    Double break!

He has definitely checked out now, doesnt want to be there

In a sense we are finally seeing age catch up with the greats. If they get taken deep in one match it's almost impossible for then to bounce back from it in time for the next.

the froggy crowd will turn to give ND a few cheers in the 3rd set but will be in vain I think by then

so much hinged on that game at 6-5 where ND had a brain fart (note to self - wrap up the set instead of having bants with the umpire)

takes that and this would be a completely different match

just can't see even ND coming back after this barring something unbelievable

Tsits has his foot on the gas and ND is still thinking how the fook he blew that first set

Just wanted that set over it seems. Let's see how the start of the next set goes and if he can mentally get back into this.

The start of this set is a dangerous time for Tsitsipas
I hope he stays focused and finishes this

Haha ha. I knew this would happen.

ND has levels, though. Any let up from ST and things can chance quite fast.

Absolutely! He has to stay calm and keep playing his best. Djokovic could come back but I'm cautiously optimistic for Tsitsipas.

Commentator just said that too :pac: Delighted with this scoreline so far

Tsitsipas will get nervous as the third set goes on this will offer Djokovic a way back, all Djokovic needs is to hold on and wait for the nerves to kick in, once he gets a toe hold into the match he'll come back strong, but, definitely up against it now, but, wouldn't count him out just yet.

I meant, I knew djkovic was going to leave the court!

This would take the miracle of all miracles. Tsitsipas just has to keep his focus because his opponent has left the court

The problem for Novak is that he needs the next 3 sets and to keep going for another 2-3 hours. I can see him winning this set, but fatigue will become too difficult an opponent.

He cant even return serve which tells you everything you need to know

what a competitor though even if he's still a massive underdog

huge game to win after Tsits showed amazing defence and resolve for 3 or 4 bps

This set is gone for Tsitsipas, Djokovic getting on top now, Tsitsipas if he gets the opportunity to close out the match in the fourth set will get very nervous, giving Djokovic the opportunity to come back, all Djokovic needs to do is stay with him for the fourth set and use his experience in the big points. A long way to go yet in this match

At least Tsits is getting a real test here

Mould the future by facing the greats - so important

    How real champions are made

Kudos to Novak for not throwing in the towel. When those breaks points were coming and going at 3-2, he could have just thought this just ain't happening today. Stuck at it, gotta make tsitsipas really fight for it

You can be sure he'll make Tsitsipas earn it, just hope we don't see Tsitsipas wilt once the real pressure comes on in set 4 and 5

Well played from ST. Great point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,082 ✭✭✭Slashermcguirk

Credit where it's due, showed heart of a lion there. Many players would have let their head drop when tsitsipas saved so many break points.

Still very much up against it but at least he is making him fight for it

A glimmer for Djokovic, pity he couldn't get the double break for the set 6/2 so he'd be serving first in the 4th ... but let's see....

    Still Tsitsipas overwhelming favourite..
