Here is Johnson in January this year talking about Trump:

I believe what President Trump has been saying about that has been completely wrong and I unreservedly condemn encouraging people to behave in the disgraceful way that they did in the Capitol."


Here is Johnson talking about Trump in 2015:

Yeah they are very much of a neocon, interventionist sort. The stories about the various negative aspects only came out in the early period of the Biden administration. Imagine a lot of their indiscretions could be overlooked when there was a danger of a another Trump term.

They are in an awkward position. Imagine some of the members thought they would waltz into some new posts under the guise of bipartisanship. Alternatively they would merge back into the GOP having spent a few years as the "principled conservatives", out of the party due to their disgust at populism.

Neither seems to be happening. If I was particularly cynical I would predict that they try to limp to the midterms. Then use wishful thinking to solicit more donations for Senate races etc.

by the time he got back on the ground though Biden had been humbled:
