who puts on a tennis match from 20 years ago and watches it?

    pretty much nobody.

sport is all about the moment (particularly tennis)

this match is a clash of titans,

every point at this stage has so much intensity and gravity to it and there are some great rallies and winners.

    has it in spades.

    can't ask for any more

Its definitely picked up in the last 30 minutes.
    Its clutch tennis now.

Djokovics second serves are very weak.

Me because I actually enjoy the game.

If they can maintain this level for 2 more sets then it can end up being a great match. But nobody can tell me those first 2 sets were anything to write home about.

I've been writing (texting) all night about them!

Even the masks are gone at this stage.

Whoever wins the tie break wins the match I'd say

    You think?

I've never seen anything like this thread for blasé, blanket, unequivocal statements!! :D

Meanwhile back at the ranch..... 15 mins to kicking out time..... dun dun dun......

people want the intensity of the moment,

that's why many billions are spent each year on LIVE SPORT rights, not reruns

    and this has it

    enjoy it while you can

they won't be both playing together in a match, both playing well at the same time, perhaps ever again

Double fault at the start of the tie-break, a sure sign of nerves.

He got over it, though! :D

Usually I find Djokovic-Nadal matches a bit tedious and boring but I'm really enjoying this episode!! Especially this set.

    POINT!!!!!:

Nadal is going to have to do some battling to get back into this.

    Great match.

Which luckily can be captured on film for future enjoyment.

That was a pure Sampras serve to go 6-4.

    How'd they manage that?

It was probably not worth the effort to get everybody out anyway. Get the security/cops involved. And we know the French aren't the most compliant.

The third set was well over 1 1/2 hours long. McEnroe won both the 1983 and 1984 Wimbledon finals in less time than that.

    What a match.

When you think Nadal is done he comes back fighting.
