Eve was the most important person in history, for if there was no Eve theryd be no offspring, hence no us, and then no boards.ie, hence this thread wouldn't even exist, so Eve (Adams missus) was the most important person who ever existed.

Do you think she rode her kids to make grandkids or how did they come about?

She had 2 sons, think about that!

Karl Marx. Well over a hundred million people were killed because of him. Billions have had or are having a miserable life thanks to his unique brand of twattery.

That Austrian lad with the Charlie Chaplin tache. Like him or loathe him but he was kind of a big deal.

Yeah, good point, if a little disgusting :D

Not sure the Bible tells us the answer to that?

    Same, but mine.

OP, this is like asking someone to choose their favourite song or film. Give us a bit of context.

    Irish? James Connolly.
    A European? I think Napoleon.

Napoleon is probably the answer, actually. And also my Dad.

    Donald J Trump.

I'm sure he'd agree with me :pac:

Can I just ask posters to be careful how they handle this one? As pointed out, the issue of genealogy is important. But this thread could potentially create an infinite regress, thereby opening up a wormhole to other multiverses and causing a lot of upset.

Didn't Noah's daughters get him drunk to get their way? Maybe there's precedent.

Roger waters was better. Listen to their solo stuff, which one sounds more like Floyd? Gilmours solo music is too slow and lacking emotion. There I go, can open, worms everywhere :D

I think Roger might have something to say about that.

Oh come on, Water’s lyrics were great, I'll give you that, but the sound of classic Pink Floyd was mostly down to Gilmour's amazing guitar work. (And he was always a better lead vocalist too) :p

I doubt it, he's quite a humble and self deprecating person.

How we define important is crucial? Some people are important cultural figures but if you take them out of the equation the story of mankind would probably look similar. For me off the cuff

    Romulus and Remus

    Karl Marx

    Adam Smith

    Hitler

    Darwin

    Socrates

If by worms you mean insanity.

The most importand person who ever existed is whomever you think is the most imporant who ever existed. In my own case that would be myself.

    It was Lot's daughters.

The Old Testament has lots of mad stuff in it like that.

Joe is way up there on the list alright. Without him, or someone like him we wouldn't have had movable type printing(the Chinese had printing but did remarkably little with it), which caused one of the greatest information revolutions in history after the written word. If you had been born just before his invention all you would have known of books would have been very rare and very expensive hidden away hand written texts, but by the time you were fifty millions of books on thousands of subjects would have been all around you and you could buy pamphlets on the street for a penny. This gave us things like contents pages and indexing, rapid transmission and debate on myriad subjects, more specialisation, massive changes in politics and religion and philosophy and the arts, the reformation and the enlightenment, without which the modern western world wouldn't exist in the from it does. And because of the spread of said western world, the rest of the planet too. He changed humanity's progress in a deeply fundamental way. He's defo near the top.

Religious figures like Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha also had huge impacts on humanity. Political figures are harder to pin down. Augustus Caesar would be one who made Rome imperial and set it on a long course of influence seen down to this day. Qin Shi Huang did similar for China.

Noah IIRC got drunk and got his bits out and his son saw him and/or fiddled with them. Lot offered his daughters to a mob outside his gaff.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
