    Other than self, the guy/gal that invented democracy. Though not perfect, and certainly didn't just poof into existence, the feudal system was a bit merde for the vast majority of people.

    I'll go out on a limb and say a mediocre singer with a very niche following is not the most important person to have ever existed, but going back to your question I'd say youd probably have to mention any scientist who's research produced medicine to cure diseases or prolong life
