Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Those couple of seconds when you've finally flushed one, you're watching it in the air against a blue sky and it looks on right line with the pin...........

Nipping a wedge shot just right and watching it fizzing towards the pipe. Marvellous.

Teeing off on the first on a lovely sunny morning with good company and enjoying the anticipation of the next few hours

    • That bit of moisture on the fairways early on a summers morning.
    • Sound of a well hit drive.
    • Feel of a well hit iron.
    • When that putt rolls exactly as expected, and hits the back of the cup.
    Perfection :D

After a days work being out on the course till 10pm on a long summers evening!

Driving in the gate on a fine morning knowing that you have 18 holes ahead of you

Nothing beats the feeling of seeing the ball travel through the air over a forced carry towards a perched target

When you have looked forward to a new course you’re visiting for months, and you are finished up, it’s everything you expected

Landing close to a pin on a Par 3 when your playing partners have all missed the green. :D

Calling your shot in advance and hitting it exactly that way

Days where you just seem to be making every makable putt

The once in a blue moon perfect pro chip/pitch when it really needed it and it looked like I knew what I was doing.

Following the flight path of a Draw* shot from distance into a narrow green.

*High handicapper so Draw being completely accidental btw

Getting up and down from a bunker.

Finding ProV1s when you've gone looking for your €0.50 distance ball.

Socialising with different people and making new mates.

Absolutely nailing a hybrid or fairway wood off the deck and watching the ball ascend.

Taking a new club out for the first round.

Taking in the fresh air, experiencing nature, and spending 2-4 hours without a care in the world.

    Finding your ball, everytime

Two things that really get me going on the golf course!

Absolutely creaming a nice low one with my 4 iron, Jesus, is there a better feeling!

and a close second is a low spinney chip that just pulls up before the hole and rolls out to within a foot.

And i really enojy the craic, and chats.

Hitting the practice ground with a bag of balls and an unlimited amount of time to spend. Peace, tranquility and the joy of trying to work on something with my swing. God, I'd be out there all day (and no-one complaining about how long I'm taking :pac: )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,036 ✭✭✭youcancallmeal

Striking an iron well, even if it's offline I actually don't mind as long as I struck it well and it went the distance it was supposed to go.
Hitting a long putt close to the hole, my pace is all over the place so I'm delighted when I can 2 putt from outside 20 feet.

Judging the wind, elevation, temp etc just right on a par 3 in non normal conditions and using a club 2 up or 2 down to land it pin high in front of your mates .....pro feeling!

  • Registered Users Posts: 348 ✭✭frink

Playing brutal for 15 holes only to play the last 3 perfectly. Just enough for you to love the game again and bring you back the following week

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,590 ✭✭✭blue note

Taking on a difficult shot and pulling it off. Maybe you were forced into a flop shot or maybe you just said feck it, I'll go for that sucker pin. But you feel like the man when you do it.

And of course - the big drive. The combination of wind, elevation, hard ground, a favourable bounce and most importantly nailing it! And suddenly you're 320 yards down the fairway and have a 9 iron into the par 5 green for your second. That definitely feels good.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,781 ✭✭✭Motivator

Giving a 3 wood absolutely everything to a long par 5 and watching it sail through the air. I don’t think there’s a better feeling than nailing a fairway wood. The sound, ball flight and landing of a high one is so satisfying. On one of our par 5s your eyes can play tricks on you with the way the backdrop is. Sometimes you think you’re long and OB and the ball suddenly drops 30 yards short. Every once and a while you give a 3 wood everything and you end up pin high for a back pin. Another 15 yards and you’re OB so when the course firms up if you catch it thin you’re adios.

The sun shining brightly and your tee time is fast approaching.

Hitting the green on a driveable par 4. No better pleasure in golf. Followed by 3 putting for par!

Hitting what you think is the perfect iron flush and hearing that lovely plop sound and seeing the little splash of water as your ball sinks to the bottom of the lake bliss

  • Registered Users Posts: 48,742 ✭✭✭✭Wichita Lineman

    Birdie on the first hole.

Being drawn in the singles against the club Billy Big Balls who thinks he’s a pro and beating him on the 18th!

  • Registered Users Posts: 48,742 ✭✭✭✭Wichita Lineman

Hitting a loose tee shot and getting a lucky ricochet off a tree to stay in play.

  • Registered Users Posts: 48,742 ✭✭✭✭Wichita Lineman

Irish Open tickets - but I'd say they will be very very difficult to get.

The sound of the Cup after you hole that 10 to 15 footer for Par or Bogey, and those rare times it’s for Birdie and you feel like a Pro for few seconds.

It's the shame about having to keep the flag in. I loved the sound of the ball dropping. Hitting the flag just isn't the same.

Loading the clubs into the boot of your car and the neighbour says it's a grand day for it.

Makes me grateful to be able to get out and play and so thankful to my late father for introducing me to the greatest game.

    Birdie on the first hole.

Last time i started with a birdie i went OB on the next 2 holes. So I'll quite happily take a par on the first :D

Home course is a par 5 so would take a par or an eagle. :D

Has to be nailing a long iron from a tight lie.

Sound and flight of that shot gives me great satisfaction because its one of the hardest to hit IMO

  • Registered Users Posts: 48,742 ✭✭✭✭Wichita Lineman

Par 3's - leaving the bag at the next tee and walking to the green with a putter.

Call me a simple man but a good solid tee shot on the first.

being able to do that on the 2nd in Moate is particularly satisfying :)
