O here we go, challenge getting staff, FFS, Cummins, your industry could have maintained staff by utilising wage subsidy schemes but no, you F***** them out on the street when the pandemic started. Makes my blood boil listening to this clown

Was that Verona Murphy? The HSE should give her a shout after the show to use her expertise in cybersecurity to resolve the extremely complex ransomware issue. She might be able to just foghorn it into leaving the systems.

Independents really are a complete waste of time.

No, not Verona for a change, Sharon somebody, horrid individual

Well, only thing that emerged from today was that Ossian Smyth was in complete control.

This bolloxology needs to be called out.

We have a body charged with protecting the nation’s population from a pandemic and a group looking after themselves who just don’t have to worry about that .

Let’s do things properly, do we want holidays to supercede everything and bring in the virus from abroad?

Only 20% of the population fully vaccinated!!!!

Ossian tore them out a new one on today’s show.

A now Brendan, we're you listening to another show?

Minister unaware of Travel ban in place
    Minister unaware Fine in place
Minister drops bomb shell re PCR testing requirements for children travelling
Minister Back Tracks and will talk to transport minister

This all in the space of 30 or so minutes??

Just listening to her there, her name is Senator Sharon Keogan
There’s more about her here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharon_Keogan

Quite an unpleasant character - it’s no wonder that Fianna Fáil didn’t select her (despite her having been on their national executive) and that she failed to get elected in three general elections.

Our Sharon never took the hint, though, and fair play to her, she managed to get elected to the very expensive dosshouse that is Seanad Éireann (on the Industrial and Commercial panel).

She had absolutely nothing of value to contribute to today’s discussion.

They weren’t far off suggesting that the State should pay for a foreign holiday. 2 weeks in Tenerife with enough vouchers for 10 pints a day and a full fry-up in O’Sheas.

The problem with Ossian is that he gets over confident and starts stating inaccuracies - problem for him this time that Katie started querying him (Unlike CB earlier in the week).

As for Sharon....my ears still hurt..

If UK residents require a PCR test for travel it MUST be privately sourced. The free NHS tests are not valid.

I agree. Why should the taxpayer pay for people to go on holidays anyway.

Very dislikable individual. She is the right wing version of Brid Smith. Would be interesting to see the two of them on the same show but there is a risk putting that much pure spite, hatred and anger in one room would create a singularity of bollixology powerful enough to destroy reality as we know it.

If you can afford to go on holidays and boost the economies of other countries you can afford to PCR test your kids here.

Verona Murphy was a disgrace as a public representative on that show today. She only need look at the worrying situation of indian variant spread in the UK (where vaccination rates are far higher) to see what damage it can cause. Doesn't she know the primary objective is to protect the health services at all costs.

    They actually quoted 10% earlier.
Which leaves us with a huge proportion of people who only have around 30% immunity to what is the most dominant variant in the UK - here too in no time. Most of the people who received the AZ which leaves a considerable lengthy gap between first and second dose are the "highly vulnerable" and over 60s too.
It's like we are actively embracing wave 4 and the possibility of another hospital surge.

If we let the Indian variant proliferate here holidays will be a moot point - no one will want us visiting their country and infecting them. We will face hotel quarantine where we are accepted.

There is so much depressing shortsightedness going on.
It's basically twitter running the country now and our political overlords bowing and scraping to the loudest special interest groups to try and appease their social media campaign angst.

Not stating anything about individuals, but I tend to look at the big picture.

If somebody is leading in a job of work, my priority is that they are in control of the main event, not that they know every minutiae of the innards so to speak.

There are others with that responsibility.

In fairness there was a very weak opposition crew today, but catching the “boss” out on bits and pieces that make up a job would be very low on my radar.

Amazes me that a certain coterie of folk put so much ‘meas’ on it.

Like expecting the CEO of Bus AC to know where the #24 route goes and the stops.

Grow up lads…. BIG PICTURE for those in management.

Grow up Lads? , are you offended your alone in your opinion on the Ministers performance, perhaps play the program back "slowly". Your statement about the Minister in control was quite outlandish for reasons given. It's not personal, likable chap Oissin, but my god his performance today pretty shocking, I'm sure he was relieved not too much time spent on the cyber attack?

Suit yourself, dude, continue with your hyperbolic description (shocking) of stuff that you don’t approve of.

Rest of us ,meanwhile, will evaluate what actually matters.

If you were looking at the bigger picture then you would realise a politician going on national radio and telling porkies is short term thinking at its worst, irrespective of party.

Someone being found out in lies is not ' catching the boss out as you describe it'.

Ossian is our very own version of Matt Hancock - that's the bigger picture !

Rest of us (you mean, rest of you), shocking perhaps a little extreme but seriously how you could evaluate the Ministers performance as good is a complete mystery. Dude? We've had exchanges about this before, but the sun is shining, garden has come alive so I'll let that go, given your obvious trauma at being wrong.

Ahhhh, so *SHE'S* the one who wanted to microchip disabled kids. Its all making sense now.

She even resembles Verona Murphy, only rougher, if such a thing were possible.

LOL :), I think even Katie was horrified at the senators performance, I'm predicting no more invites to the show, I was watching it and the looks of exasperation on the faces of other guests said it all really.

The only consolation was she was sitting in the corner (social distancing, looking like a spoiled child who'd been sent to the corner for misbehaving, perhaps that's why she was so animated ), camera's didn't pick her up once albeit her screeching abilities unfortunately made up for that :)

A bit off topic but media related, I have noticed a ‘swing’ in the sound media on the various programs after months of cheerleading those objecting to the regulations to now querying “are we opening up too fast”.

Late debate should be a bell wether to see if this ‘trend’ gains traction over the next week or two.

Talk about having your feet in every camp.

Let’s not forget the media’s cheerleading ‘breakout ‘if a fourth wave happened or a new variant takes hold.

Events in Dublin City Centre last night would give rise to the belief that there has been serious breakout.

The first inklings will be on BOC and by the time we get to Katie next week it will be the only story in town - but that's what happens when you have vested intetests on air with no balance and weak presenters.

    Parallel universe :
In the UK the talk has been all week about not if but when they will have the next wave - MM addressing the nation as if the pandemic is nearly over.
Germany/France /Austria closing it's borders to the UK while vested interest after vested interest here looking for the immediate reinstatement of travel with the UK.

Next Saturdays listening will be interesting. ...

I agree that breakout is happening, in fact it has been for ages, it's just reaching a critical mass now. It has happened before, with previous relaxations of course, to a greater or lesser extent.

I don't think that particular "cohort" are taking their lead from the meeja, however, but it is grindingly inevitable that the permanent oppoisiton would oppose any consensus. They are shameless, and it's a poor mark on the collective intelligence of any country, that people lap it up unthinkingly..
