because Murph is pretty poor at presenting/interviewing, better as a side kick with the odd quip

There was a couple of times where he started a question and then had to reword it and he just sounded flustered, was really annoying

I wish they'd stop pushing the George Gibney podcast. It's been a year of promotion. Everytime I hear that keyboard line I want to throw my phone at the wall.

    Agreed.

Sorry, just wondering is it me or is it them I suppose. Do other people find the podcasts dragging lately or is my disenchantment part of this phenomenon

Premier League during the pandemic has become a chore with matches on every day

The truth is, that the Premier League and European leagues generally are a bit crap, with winners very rarely being in doubt when the last games of the season roll around. If it wasn't for tradition, we might be able to tear up the structure of these competitions and make them into something more competitive and unpredictable like the NFL, but as it is, they'll continue to soldier on with a straight league format producing 2 or 3 genuine title races a decade.

Murph can't get out of his own way when asking questions.

to be fair to Murph at least he is not a smug twat, even if egomaniacs suggests otherwise

The scumbag email from the Leicester fan on yesterdays pod was one of the best ever. :D

He obviously enjoys the sound of his own voice so I'm surprised at the amount of fans of the show he blanks!
Personally I'm getting really sick of him constantly butting in and talking over eoin and Ken. Especially if it sounds like Ken is about to go on a classic rant. Let the 2 lads finish a sentence at least murph FFS! Or better still just sit out the football podcasts. There is just too much murph interrupting and labouring the damn point for me these days.

I know Murph might do it a little too much but I do think interrupting is needed from time to time on podcasts, as guests or hosts will go off an a tangent or waffle. As much as I love Ken, he could veer off talking about quantum physics or Shakespeare for an hour uninterrupted and go way off topic!

Eoin has been badly missed this week! That sinking feeling on a Monday pod when Murph is doing the intro

Don't get the Murph hatred. Don't get it at all.

Think the pod would be way worse without him.

I think a Eoin free week is adequately filled by Murph hosting. What is the alternative for Murph haters? Just Ken asking himself questions?

I am not a big fan of Murph but he is a cog in the wheel of second captains.

I do wish he wouldn't interrupt the lads as much and adds the least in normal conversations. Sometimes he is a nice foil for ken but he takes forever to come out with a question or thought.

Mark has done it excellently in the past so not sure why he doesn't step in. Don't get the Murph hate, he's fine as host.

I enjoy Murphy, but I do prefer Mark as a stand-in host if possible.

I think murph is good as the side kick, but hosting doesn’t suit him. Today’s pod never got going because he nearly talked as much as Ken. Newsflash: we’re here for Ken! Eoin let’s Ken ramble and ramble, and thats when you get the best content.

Though I feel terrible to criticise him too much for fear he reads this. That would be horrible to read about yourself.

I think the podcast today was hampered by Ken trying to describe minor passages of play during the game. It’s a drawback of the non visual medium they operate in.

I've enjoyed murph and Ken dynamic this week. I like when murph punctuates ken and makes him laugh.

It's not BBC or rte sport. Yeah they do serious stuff but I like it mixed with the light entertainment vibe of a few mates hanging out. If they behaved like journalists all the time they'd be way less interesting.

The bald-headed anchor man does his thing and does it very well but have to say I always enjoy the way Murph & Ken bounce off each other in Eoin's absence, akin to when the head teacher is out sick.

SC was a great escape valve during the worst days of Covid (to have been a fly on the wall in SC HQ last March when that sh!t hit the fan) and for that, I'll always be grateful anyway.

Great when Eoin's there. Great when he isn't.

Great to have some dog chat on the pod, hasn't been the same since Frank's departure. Ken's recital of the spew incident was brilliant :D

I'm not saying he's like Ger but Ger has a tendency to really drag out questions for about 30 seconds and then you forget what the start of the question was before he gets to the end. Murf can do this at times too.

Tbf that is true, i think he was asking Caitlin Thomson a question and his question took about 3 minutes to ask

You just cant beat the full dynamic when all 3 are there, they compliment each other very nicely

That's exactly what I want from Ken ;-)

I like murph and think he's an important member of the team but when he over does the interruptions and talks straight over Ken and eoin that's when he becomes tedious for me.

Completely agree. I like Murph, he and Ken were pretty entertaining this week in the absence of Eoin. The interruptions though are dreadful. It seems to often derail the flow of a topic. I struggle to think of any host/contributer on any sports podcast who talks over others as frequently. I've never noticed it with anyone on Football Weekly, or Totally Football pods. Some on OTB are probably guilty of it, Gilroy was mentioned in this thread and he's fond of jumping in while others are in the middle of a point.

What can you do though, no one's perfect and the SC pod wouldn't be the same without him.

Gab Marcotti was notorious for it when he hosted The Game podcast.

    I like Murph.

I can't believe my emotive reaction to that sentence. He was so bad.

Mark was great as the lead on Friday podcast. Quick, funny and to the point. Everything Murph isn't, pretty much.

Murph is tolerable as the third wheel, but isn't 'med' for anything more. Even his dog sounds boring compared to Ken's!
