Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He was 8 behind after round 1 2 weeks ago in Quail Hollow, so I think we are being a bit premature fully writing him off. He is 6 back currently.

Closing the gap and he isnt even playing!

How the hell did he shoot 13 under at this golf course with a 75 thrown in!!! Ridiculous golf.

Any chance he could just shoot a 69 or 70 today? Would be massive I think. Just get back to level par but won’t be any bit easy with the afternoon conditions.

Has got to hit the fairways and then take care of the par 5’s.

2012 played completely different to how it is playing. It was in Aug and very very wet. Wind didn't blow and suited his towering approach shots

The 2nd round was atrocious weather. Everyone struggled.
McIlroy went out in the best of it and shot a 75.
So did Tiger but a 71.
Harrington (The Legend) shot a 76 in the worst of it.

    I see him shooting a 73 today

Rory is by no means out of it if he is on form, but he is not playing his best or anywhere near it. Too loose off the tee around here.
He needs a 68 minimum today to put himself back in the mix.

No he doesn't, 70 would be more than acceptable. If he shoots 68 he will nearly be favourite.

Brad Faxon described Harry Diamond as Rory's "secret sauce" there.

    A little OTT possibly.

Faxon now believes Harry is the "ace in the pack"

Rory and par 5’s!!! Another bogey. Inexcusable from the middle of the fairway once again.

Something went badly wrong with the bunker shot, which is usually his forte

He has been so poor on the par 5s...

Yep it’s 4 6s he had on the par5s so far

He’s playing very well. Could have birdied 3 of the first 4 and you’d have expected him to at least birdie the par 5 after the drive. Another great tee shot on 5 and about to turn and have the wind at his back for 9 holes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 699 ✭✭✭bamayang

So close to a few birdies dropping.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,143 ✭✭✭DellyBelly

I agree. Playing very well.. Could easily be 2 or 3 under.

This means he has bogeyed the last 4 par 5s he's played !!
It must be doubtful this has ever happened to any other world top 10 player before.

Another poor par 5 and no birdie.. This will hurt him because he is playing as well as anyone out there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

At least it wasn’t a 6 on a par 5!!! Probably felt like it when he had just a 9 iron into the green.

So frustrating when he is hitting it so well. 3 yards too far left with his second

9 Iron from 205 is crazy even if it was downwind. Would like to see him hit an extra club but be much smoother.

Rory has played so well tee to green today. He should be -5 on the round if he could hole a putt.

And you can see the frustration starting to kick in. Perfect off the tee but now not getting the putts. Got the putts yesterday when he was all over the shop

Takes the most difficult one then!

Nice birdie on 9. 2 hrs 35 for the front 9.

He's not the only one. Koepka has had a similar number of close misses (another one there) and JT also. Seem like difficult greens to read.

Beemer surely isn't walking the course with Rory after playing in the morning?!

He's made the cut, I'd be putting my feet up and having a glass of something, the Sky wages must be good!

Had a disaster towards the end of his round. +4 for the last few holes to leave him outside the cut.

If he holds where he is that will be a good finish

Putter looks way more composed this week. He’s inches from dropping 3 or 4 birdies. Much better compared to the usual head scratching 18”+ misses
