HSE site won't recognise my Eircode (tried entering it with and without the space and or caps), nor will manually entering my address work, as it keeps telling me to complete each line (which I have).

    Anyone else have that issue?

Try O and 0, they’re the same normally but it was only recognising a 0 for me.

That’s a ridiculous analogy you gave.

And take what your given or tough ****e is exactly how we get out of this as the more people vaccinated the better. Instead of causing delays and inefficiencies by faffing around refusing some.

There is extremely low risk regardless of which vaccine you are given, so just take it

Yes and *people won't take AZ vaccine and would rather no vaccine which means we have less people vaccinated and more lockdowns

*People who are thinking I've lasted this long without catching covid, and the numbers are low so even less chance of catching it now.

RTE reporting that 65,000 vaccinations were done over two days on Monday and Tuesday this week. Seem like good numbers for Monday and Tuesday!

32,500 a day would equate to 227,500 over 7 days, 22,500 short on the weekly targets if that keeps up

Not really, it's from MVC only Not including GP

Monday and Tuesday tend to be much lower than Wednesday-Friday. Also, someone else pointed out that these numbers are just for the MVCs.

Thats on them. They are at the same level as the anti vaxxers at that point. They were offered a vaccine and refused. We can’t hold everyones hands for them.

Do those in their 40's get a choice between AZ or J&J, or is it just that you take what you get and have the choice to refuse and wait for a Pfizer vac to become available?

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'll take whatever I'm offered, but if I did get a choice I'd happily go for J&J as its only one dose. I'm in the 40-45 bracket so just wondering what was offered to the 45-49 bracket.

    What I wrote was:

There are approximately 900 serious injuries on Irish roads every year. So the risk of that is about 1 in 6,000.

Even taking the highest age-related risk of AZ at 1 in 45,000, that makes the risk of serious injury using the roads for one year 7.5 times higher than the risk of getting a clotting event from AZ.

Therefore, if people who turn down AZ are being consistent about their risk aversion, they should be seeking to use the roads as little as possible, and yet I have never seen anyone admit to doing so. I know people who don't drive for various reasons, but they still take unnecessary road journeys.

    I stand by the statement.

Most people have no alternative to using the roads less. There is, however, an alternative to AZ should people feel the risk is unacceptable. The Govt. have specifically indicated to the 40-50 age group that they have this choice, so I don't understand why anyone in this cohort choosing to elect to wait for MRNA gets this consistent "why won't you just take what you're offered", and "they are all safe" etc. etc. The level of risk is immaterial. If there are 2 vaccines, and one has a tiny risk and another has a tinier risk, it's reasonable that, depending on their age and circumstances, people might opt for the latter, especially with Govt. have specifically identified that this choice is open to them.

I will turn down AZ vaccine if offer and wait for pfizer. Various reasons:
    • Pfizer is the main one europe is going with.
    • Less side effects with pfizer
    • 16 week wait for the second vaccine with AZ
    • Europe is not ordering anymore AZ.

Now I also know HSE hasn't got the software up to date to handle people waiting for their prefer vaccine, the option is given to the 49-40 group. So HSE will be going with pfizer in this group by default

You be told in your text which one you are getting and can say no and wait for your prefer option

Also when people talk about the side effects, they aren't talking about the blood clothing, they are talking about the temps, ill for 2 days, headaches and quite tired for 2 weeks. These are very common side effects of AZ.

Pfzier seems to be more tired for a day and a sore harm. A few got a temp on the second does but were all good after 1 day

After the second dose of Pfizer don't stray too far from a toilet though... seems to be a common side effect.
AZ first dose hits harder and for Pfizer it's the second dose.

Calling people who are being offered a choice (based on verifiable medical data) anti-vaxxers is frankly ridiculous.

Clearly you know better than the experts, eh?

Side effects can happen with any vaccine.

I know people who've just had fatigue after AZ for a day, others who couldn't lift their head off the pillow the next day after Pfizer. 2 26 year olds floored with Pfizer while my 92 year grand mother was fine, next door neighbour couldn't leave his bed.. It depends from person to person.

You can't say 1 vaccine gives more side effects than the other.

As for being tired for 2 weeks, no that's not common. More than a day or two contact a GP

Haven't heard of anyone with issues with pfizer, all parents, inlaws, uncles and aunties on both side and old neighbours had no issue

Yes side effects can happen with all. We don't know how our body will react. But from what I seen and who I talked to that gone through the process, AZ has more side effects. Doesn't mean everyone will get them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,367 ✭✭✭JimmyVik

Out of about 20 people i know so far who have received the vaccine, only one has said they have had side effects (besides a sore arm) and she is a total hypochondriac.
In fact i think she probably decided what side effects she was going to have the night before she got the vaccine :)

Everyone though said they had a sore arm, but stick (with vaccine or no vaccine in it) a needle that deep into any part of your body and its going to be a bit sore for a while, so id say thats normal.

And see I'm the opposite know more that had side effects with Pfizer. We can both give anecdotal examples.

Nobody can say 1 vaccine gives more side effects than the other. Everyone reacts differently.

You claimed being tired for 2 weeks is common with AZ, it is not. With any vaccine if the side effects are still there more than 2 days or so contact a GP

Quick question there if anyone can help. I'm 52 and got my first Pfizer jab yesterday within a week of registering. My partner is 45 (Feb 76) and yesterday morning I saw online where 45 to 49 yr old could register. She was busy so I registered for her online. Now she thinks I shouldn't have and that she should have waited until Sunday.

Sure enough, next time I looked it was showing that 49 to 60s or something like that. I'm 99.9% sure I saw an invitation to register 45+ yesterday morning. Have I messed up / delayed it for her? It showed a little flow chart to say she was registered but I can't find it to check it again. Sorry for the rambling "quick" question!

BTW....She gave me permission to register her!

It said 45 to 49 year olds this morning, I saw it with my own blinkers
