We are getting some nice points

I wouldn’t say disaster as it’s very early days. But we’ve a lot of work to do!

Relax lads, it’s the first game of the league, one which cork need to win a lot more than Waterford

For a team that was in an all Ireland final a few months back it's an embarrassing performance. Defence were abysmal ,the captain in particular . 5 goals conceded says it all . No threat beyond shooting from distance .

I know its the first game and all that but our defence looks junior C standard. There is some load of work needed. This beating might be good in the long run...... desperately clutches at straws.

A well oiled team vs a very rusty one

Cork are far from a well oil team. Marking was very loose today. Can't give any team the space Cork got

Flip one of those days, Cork were pretty good tbf and as was said we were very rusty and have a lot of work to do

We need a big score next week against Westmeath

Didn't look like a red at all ? Lyons barely touched him.

That particular ref has previous, he's very fond of showing the cards.

    Ridiculous decision:

On the positives, Aussie and Bennett are again in great form. I’m especially happy to see Michael Kiely come on, win his own ball and score a nice point. And in fairness I suppose Kearney deserves a mention considering all the stick we give him. He played well but whether he does it in the championship remains to be seen.

Defensively and in midfield, we were in trouble. Not one of Calum’s better days but we know what he can do.

At worst, it was a yellow. Wasn’t Callum’s day even before that.

In addition to those already favourably mentioned, I thought that Darragh Lyons ‘put in a good shift’, as well as McNulty.

Pleasing to see Miikey Kearney doing well on his introduction and also delighted to see Kiely come on near the end.

I wouldn’t blame Prunty for all the goals - his fellow defenders must also shoulder the blame - plus, marking Horgan is a handful for any full back. Today may not do much for Billy Nolan’s confidence but overall, nobody died.

In general Wford were a long way off the pace.
    The defence was very poor.
In midfield Cork swallowed up Waterford players when they were in possession, Waterford never got any pressure on the Cork lads.
Some nice points scored but conceding so many soft goals was worrying.

Westmeath next week and then a trio of hell in the following rounds

    Limerick (home)
    Galway (away)
    Tipperary (home)

Lyons pull looked worse in real time. In replay wasn't bad, yellow was enough

    A trio of hell! Nice!

Form is not for now. I'd expect Waterford to shore up what went on today as they go on.

Pure utter lunacy the half backs following their men out the field, leaving acres of space in front of full forward line

Bit of inexperience and obvious not much skills work or collective training done so far.....hard to pick positives up,except the sublime form of stephen bennett, who has picked up where he let off last year

As someone who tradionally suffered serious enough issues,if he ever gets injured,we're in serious problem

Maybe Cahill wanted to have a look at something...

From the outside looking in Waterford are a tier 1 team with Tadhg de Búrca, tier 2 without him.

After 10 mins or so,at 3 points each,i could have told yous, our full back line wasnt coping

Theres no excuse to be shipping 5 goals at this level,no mind 5 goals, whose build up was near identical.....time to stop.the rot is now

We're likely to be relegated this year in the league and for what end.....its ball winning forwards we need, not inexperienced defenders following their men out field leaving a mile of room infront of an at best average full back line and againest one of best full forwards of last 20 years, who excells in running onto ball in space?

Will same tactics be repeated vs limerick and how many goals will aaron gillane and limerick full forward line score in such scenario,8 or 10??

Ye lost the first league game. This reaction is bordering on the hysterical.

    Relegated !

Westmeath will be happy with that. Is there is any relegation this year.

O right yeah....yous are happy with shipping 5 goals and see us hammered game in and game out,by those tactics...start as yous mean to go on

No wonder we never win fcuk all.....other than maybe scrape past westmeath....how much do you think we win beat either galway, limk or tipp by??

Will our scoring difference at end of league be closer to 0 or minus 30,going on todays performance?

Some fellas overreacting to what was essentially a Munster League game given the circumstances this year. We'll see where we are come Championship.

Cork looked like they were way ahead in terms of preparation than us today....

talk of relegation is hysterical, that is essentially predicting we lose to westmeath

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,178 ✭✭✭killbillvol2

    Disaster! Relegation!

    Get a ****ing grip.

Bit of Arsenal Fan TV vibe to some of the stuff here, just to clarify if Waterford were relegated Laois, Antrim and Westmeath would stay up at their expense.
