    Who knew?

    Not me, for one!
    Hmmm...!

Though the map of Australia the continent includes PNG (and, being anal, because I've a big score coming up now!) Tasmania, so Australia still isn't both an island and a continent. (At best there's two separate entities with the same name)

is greenland smaller than madigascar or what is the criteria?

Greenland is part of Denmark officially, though I think it has its own local government in place for most things.

Denmark is actually the 12th biggest country in the world by land area, if you include Greenland. Without Greenland, it only comes in at #130.

Dependency of Denmark, but not in Europe. Like Mayote and Reunion are part of France, but not in Europe.

    VSO? Oh!
I'd love to say I was being a good person then, but really I just thought it would be cool to go :o

Jesper Gronkjaer is one of the most famous Greenlanders; played in the Premier League for Chelsea. And got 80 caps for Denmark.

The internet (which is always right ;)) says although it is in North America, it is politically and culturally more aligned with Europe so wrong but not so wrong after all :D

    N3KpTPD.jpg

Wellington is the most southerly capital city

Baku is the lowest capital city in the world at 28m below sea level, and goes by the nickname of City of Winds, supposedly because the name derives from Persian meaning "wind-pounded city", though this etymology is not verified.

And I took Omack's sixth spot off him!

Happy out with that. Good way to spend 90 minutes or so (while watching UCD go 4-0 up by half-time as well :) )

Cheers quickbeam! First one of these, but I'll keep an eye out on the next one.

Congrats to everyone who played. I mean it, I was seriously impressed by the standard of answers in this game. Only 4 countries didn't get answered at all.

I'll take a top 10 finish there, Canberra was (one of) my downfalls unfortunately.

    Well done rainbowtrout :D

That's some fine spooning there Strawbs!

Great game QB, cheers for running this was very enjoyable!

Strawbs thanks for saving my blushes. I'm thinking geography is not really one of my strong suits.

    Rainbow well done.

Thanks Quickbeam that was interesting, entertaining and embarrassing all in one go.

God damn Asuncion, that was the one that killed me off. :( *strikes Paraguay off the bucket list*

Congratulations rainbowtrout, well deserved victory. Enjoy the wooden spoon Stawbs.

That was a great reveal, I've been googling so many of those random facts to learn more :D Thank you!

Congrats rainbowtrout and others on their heels :)
Even if I had remembered the more obscure ones I know or picked less sheepie choices, I still would not have had the knowledge to be anywhere close to the top of the table! Ye are a fine bunch of nerds :p :pac:

Happy spooning Strawberry Milkshake - an essential for the kitchen!
