Still have mine. Almost 4 years and 150000km of really good driving. Will have to decide soon whether to trade up this summer (to what? Recommendations welcome) or keep it for life and cheap motoring...

After 4 years and 150k you probably wont get what the car is worth.
If you fancy a change then theres a lot of new EVs in the last 4 years to investigate! But no reason to need one other than that IMO. I loved my ioniq28, did 50k in 12 months in it and it's now in the hands of another boardsie!

...and with COVID, I've only added 70k more. Still loving the Ioniq28

My car was just under 30k km when it went for the second service before Christmas. It only passed the 30k mark last week, at current driving patterns I wont have hit 35k km by the time third service rolls around.

With the 5km limit gone and the weather improving I'm going to hopefully take a few scenic drives at the weekends though.

Brought ours in for its' first (early) NCT today. As expected flew through; the tester had a good chat after, the first he had done so was very interested. He mentioned was very well made, almost Germanic quality..:pac:. Unkel take note:D

We had very similar feedback when ours did it's NCT in January, the tester thought it was a nice car :cool:

You're right, it probably won't get what it's worth and I am inclining towards keeping it and save towards a new car in a few years without getting a massive loan to finance it. It drives the same as it did the day I bought it - though probably not getting the same mileage from a full battery. It owes me nothing though - charged 95% at home at night at 8 or 9 pence a kWh, got me through a 100km commute 5 or 6 days a week and all the ferrying of kids to sports, activities etc. Excellent car.

Still like having a few sneaky looks at the other offerings out there - the one thing I would like is longer range for those days when I have to cover more than 180-200kms.

First hot day of the year and there's no cold air coming from the air con. It's definitely blowing air only its not cold!
1) Do these need a regas (172 BEV)
2) Is this covered under warranty

Regas wont be covered under warranty no and they do need it eventually.

Thinking of selling my 191 Ioniq. "Iron Grey " colour, 20k miles on it, in excellent condition. Trade in offers are unsurprisingly very low, so even though it's a hassle, I'm contemplating selling it privately.

What would be a reasonable price to ask for a private sale these days?

Miles or km?
Presume its 38kWh model.
Does it have leather seats etc.?
I would ring electric autos in.Kildare for a starting price and then try sell privately for more.

Note trade in prices often are based on you buying a new car from dealer, so the number they give you is not the same number as a direct trade in.

Typically depreciation is 20% in the first year and 10% subsequent years, but supply and demand can make a big difference, certain cars with used shortage such as niro will hold value better.

I'd assume it's the 28kWh version. Low 20s I'd guess?

It's the 28kWh version, yes, with almost 20k miles on it (NI Import), and is the SE model, not the premium SE trim, so no leather seats.

When you say call electric autos, do they buy cars if you're not trading in with them?

If you know what kind of car you want to trade up to I'd contact as many dealers as you can who stock it. I was offered betwen €15k to €22k for mine.

Yes, however they have 3 x 28kWh ioniq for sale at the moment.

It's a good base price to start with but you might get 1 or 2 thousand more on a direct sale. Many people do not like buying expensive cars direct as they worry about aftercare and warranty trade ins, and also loans arranged through dealer but not really an issue for ioniq.

There are 3 or 4 EV specialist dealers that might give you realistic quotes and you should ring them all.

Covid + warranty running out is hitting 2017 ioniqs hard. If I were you as a prospective buyer of an Ioniq, i'd have zero issues buying one out of warranty. Even better if it's off a regular here (though most of us have moved on of late). If we ever needed a 2nd car (we have one, it sits in the driveway 24/7) for a runabout i'd get an ioniq again (when they're cheap as chips).

Yes, it appears so. Since the UK supply has basically ceased, not particurarly in Ioniqs alone, but all EVs & given the 2020+ Ioniq is realistically a flop, "classic" Ioniqs are holding their own.

I'd likely have gotten as much now as I did a year ago, for my 2019 Ioniq.
Still did very well with it though, TCO was barely anything.

Mine did this the week after the new owner had it. Bad timing, but a weird issue... especially on the passenger side door.

Known issue..google it. Dealer will.probably claim its your fault.

I've read you have to be directly opposite the door handle when you pull on it, due to a design flaw where the heel meets the handle. If you pull the handle while standing further to the right, e.g. in a tight car park space, the heel pops off due to friction from the moving part.
