Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pink Floyd,, the only band that can sell more albums than Led Zeppelin..

If LZ 4 was a 40M seller,, just look at PF, and what WYWH,, DSOTM,, TW,,, are doing on vinyl at this time, this Day.
Some say,, 20 million a year on vinyl,, per year, as per their back catalogue, in these days.

There is no way LZ are doing 20M a year on their back catalogue,, and that is why PF will pull ahead in sales numbers as time goes by.

Have you a link to those figures. I think only 18m vinyl in total were sold last year.
I'd be very surprised those 3 albums are doing 20m a year per year.

Agree. He did say He cannot wait to get back on the road again especially after basically sitting on His butt for the past 20 years.

He only cancelled the Irish one, the UK ones were rescheduled

I can set recruiting searches on the app for my Linux satellite box and it just notified me of an upcoming Pink Floyd night next sat the 26th September on Sky Arts

Thanks for that. So next Saturday night is a Pink Floyd night on Sky Arts. Just a pity their broadcast of P.U..L..S..E. is only 75 minutes long, meaning the Gig will be edited, which does that Gig no justice.

Damn it, my IPTV is glitching and it's got adverts. I have local copies of all anyway.

Being honest ( am only speaking about P.U.L.S.E ) sky are ruining the Gig. Ads etc and squeezing a 2 hour plus gig into 75 minutes ain’the best way to show the Gig.

The newly restored and remastered version of Delicate Sound of Thunder is on Sky Arts this Saturday 21st November.
It is followed by Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets "Live at the Roundhouse".

Anyone listening to the Rockonteurs Podcast by Guy Pratt and Gary Kemp? Probably mentioned here before, but It's absolutely brilliant! Nick Mason kicked off the series. Weekly podcasts with some very cool guests from Hank Marvin to Gary Numan etc. Well worth a listen/search

Totally agree. One of the best gigs I ever seen and heard. The lighting for ‘one of these days’ is something special.

Not sure if there are any P.F. vinyl collectors among you.
An eba y auction for an absolutey Mint condition 1st issue Dark Side of the Moon, complete with original posters and stickers etc ended yesterday at an eye watering £3,600.00 (approx 4,200.00 euro).
And no, I wasn't the buyer or seller.
But don't get too excited about your own Dark Side album valuations, it's a particularly rare specimen that reaches this price point..

Listened to the knebworth 90 gig on Spotify and turned it off.
Worst version of great gig in the sky I've ever heard, slap bass interlude during money and dirge like sorrow.
    Floyd lite.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,468 ✭✭✭WishUWereHere

Lately Sky Arts ( which IMHO is a great channel ) has broadcasted P.U.L.S.E. in 1 hour 20 minutes. Totally destroys the gig, which in my book, is a superb gig.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,104 ✭✭✭rolling boh

Bought the Knebworth cd pretty underwhelming really .

Roger Waters "The Wall" available to view on Netflix...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,159 ✭✭✭rednik

Roger being Roger again :rolleyes::rolleyes: but definitely looking forward to the 5.1 blu ray version of Animals which is my own favourite Floyd album. Have the other immersion sets and they are superb except The Wall which is lacking a blu ray version.

Really highlights the difference between Roger and David these days. Roger is still angry and politicised, Dave would rather sail his boat wearing his straw hat.

A momentary lapse of reason getting it's own updated & remixed release on October 19th in various formats. Will go for the CD/Blu ray myself. Something to keep us going until Dave & Roger agree the Animals updated release if they ever do 🙄.

I love this song. It is actually the only post-Waters song by Floyd that I like.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 256 ✭✭Echoes675

This came out previously with the Early Years set. IMO it still sounds dated owing to the awful reverb on the drums. That said, I do enjoy a few of the songs on this in terms of the songwriting and Gilmour's guitar work but it's nowhere near my floyd top 10. I prefer the production on the Division Bell; sounds closer to the floyd sound I prefer myself.

I think it would be an interesting project to cover AMLOR but imagine it from the perspective of pre-The Wall floyd.

Really like this reaction video series. She seems very genuine and really knows her stuff vocally

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,107 ✭✭✭eviltimeban

I think there's some good stuff on AMLOR; I've gone back to it more the older I've gotten and enjoyed it, it's pretty laid back adult rock but sometimes I prefer that to, say, The Narrow Way or something like that!

The remix was ok, it modernised things a bit but some of the charm of that album was the 80s sound and production.

I had a listen to the newly released "360 Reality Audio" mix, and to be honest I didn't really hear anything spectactual.

Something of interest.... An early Christmas present....

There seems to be a number of live albums from the 1970s released onto streaming services. (Spotify) Bootlegs I would guess. The sound quality is iffy.....

Listening to Pink Floyd live in Lyon and Tokyo 1972 at the moment. Full version of DSOTM. A few tracks very different to the finished album.

I must do some digging to find out who released these live albums.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,016 ✭✭✭✭The Nal

The band released them. If they didnt within 50 years they fall into public domain. Copyright protection expires after 50 so its use it or lose it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,142 ✭✭✭OldRio

Thanks Nal. The early work on the DSOTM material is interesting to listen to.

I think there's a dozen or so albums to check out. Although the sound quality is suspect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,565 ✭✭✭K.Flyer

Oh holy mother frickin' god, they have agreed, at last, to disagree, and now, finally, after years waiting, it is going to be released...

    Pigs will Fly..

    Animals - Remastered

Roger has something to say about it.

These live albums that have shown up on Spotify are apparently sh1t bootleg quality recordings I recommend you seek out John Peel's Perfumed Garden series, a set of performances at the Paris Theatre 1970/71. Personally I like the comp recording of the shows titled An Hour with Pink Floyd. The first three tracks (1970) being a complete Embryo (as opposed to the only half finished studio recording that ended up on on the Columbia records comp Works), Green is the Colour/Careful with that Axe, Eugene. (1971) One of These Days, Echoes. I love Peel's anecdotes describing Floyd's music. Worth seeking out if you can get your hands on them.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Animals standalone Blu-Ray disc is up for pre-order now. I have ordered several discs from this shop and found them useful and have just pre-ordered, just to note you can add around €11 for Customs when it gets into the Country. Pretty decent price considering the other Blu-Ray discs can only be bought in the Immersion sets.
