Incredible, amazing, awkward, awe-inspiring, innovative, breathtaking escapism, beautiful realism...et cetera, et cetera...

I'll start with this, as I am listening to it at the moment....

    Thanks Rednik, love that !!!!

And while we're in that classic era...

I'm sure we've all seen "Classic Albums: Dark Side of the Moon", but here's a great documentary of "The Making of Meddle".
"The first real Pink Floyd album" - Nick Mason.

Meddle for me is my essential holiday album :P

Two different outfits as far as I know. Their stuff on YouTube looks great though.

Anybody like any of the barrett solo stuff? Although a lot of it is raw and somewhat unfinished songs like gigolo aunt and dominoes are imo truly great.
But I hover between piper and animals as my favorite Floyd album depending on my mood, but they are all excellent in there own way

I find the Barrett stuff a bit depressing tbh. Like a soundtrack to his implosion.

I must say, I'd have a hard time picking out a favourite. I've been 'immersed' in the Immersion box sets of Dark Side, Wish, and Wall, which I picked up when they were released. That's a lot of versions to get through! Also picked up fresh 180g vinyl copies.

My name is endacl, and I'm a Floydaholic...

LOVE Pink Floyd. Animals is my favourite Floyd album, love its darkness and cynicism. Hopefully going to see Roger Waters in the Aviva next month, if I can afford a ticket. Saw The Wall tour in the O2 a couple of years back and it was awesome.

    The wall live was stunning.

Speaking of which, dave gilmour's solo spot in London. Years in the making. Rumours rife for months beforehand. Will he? Won't he? Speculators speckled. Pundits punned. Musos mused... The finest gear, equipment, and tech support available to any musician ever. He appears on top if the wall to unleash the first solo from comfortably numb and.....

.... Somebody forgot to tune his guitar! WTF?!?

Was watching that again on Pink Floyd.com and on the behind the scenes bit even Roger looked a bit bemused by the sounds coming from Dave's guitar,.wasn't one of his best efforts.

Two seperate bands. The lead guitarist and leader of Brit Floyd was a founder member and lead guitarist with Aussie Floyd.
I think they split over musical differences.

Had a nice Floyd night/early morning.

Could not sleep last night and at a little after 01:30 I decided that the idea of lying in my dark bedroom with some Floyd playing was an appealing one. I just love being in a dark room with nothing to do or think of save for letting the music that is playing work it's way into my head.

So on went The Dark Side Of The Moon, and it went off after two tracks. Just could not get into it.

Then threw on A Momentary Lapse of Reason and Wish You Were Here back to back. What followed was 95 or so minutes of just letting some fantastic music wash over me. Don't think I had ever played them back to back before, but they just worked so well.

The Division Bell has always been the PF album that has toyed with my affections the most, but I must admit that in recent years I think that A Momentary Lapse of Reason and especially Wish You Were Here have taken my number one and two slots for favourite PF albums although it is difficult for me to pick which order they come in.

What has Piper at the Gates of Dawn and The Division Bell got in common?

    No, the answer is...

The first vocal you hear on the first track of Pink Floyd's first studio album Piper At The Gates of Dawn is of their then manager Peter Jenner, (reading out celestial names through a megaphone)
The very last vocal you hear on the last track of Pink Floyd's last studio album The Division Bell is of their then manager Steve O'Rourke. (speaking to Dave Gilmour's son on the telephone).
Pink Floyds albums, book-ended by their managers voices.
