I didn't get to finish my message. My little lad could miss 1 day from school. What now? Now he and my wife will have to spend 2 weeks in detention each time. Plus the additional costs. Plus I will have to take time off work to mind the other children.

Even if they were exempt from the MHQ, there will be nobody flying and they probably can't get flights.

I'm writing to my local TD's but I'm not expecting much help to be honest

It shows how ill thought out this is. We are heavily connected with the UK and the EU.

Just continue to be nastier by the minute.

Some full of excuses why the guy couldn't see his father and why the vaccinated lady from Israel had to stay in quarantine, and now that both are released, completely upending these said excuses, just turn to bitter digs. Very sad.

    Jesus. You are very touchy.

It was the 'put herself in the public eye' bit that I was talking about. Just scrambling around with excuse and all you could find was nasty.

Time to move on after two cases that some on here argued that it was tough luck they were in MHQ, but now aren't in MHQ after all? What does Kingston Mills think of the word 'convenient' ?

I don't think that her details were leaked out after a crack surveillance operation, Mossad or equivalent.

She wasn't in the country a wet day and she rang Liveline and had her name and photos in all the papers.

(I'd say she has more paper qualifications and is better paid than a nurse if that matters to you)

    Totally irrelevant.

'Woman complains about unfair treatment, gets fully vindicated days later'

But yet the only problem you have is the fact she was so rude to speak up about it. Horrible.

I'd say you are right. If they are living in a cave then they are either very down on their luck and stuck for money at the minute, or else from Clare.

Either way, MHQ is probably down their list of priorities at the minute.

"New immigrant wants special treatment and exemption from local rules even though the country she is coming from has far stricter rules"

Are you equally as supportive of every single nutjob that rings Liveline? (Not saying this wan is a nutjob before you go apoplectic)

    But it was tough luck?
The reason they are out is because the government must presume they wouldn't win in court. What government is going to go to court and argue this case?
Better and easier to let them out, because of the court was to struck down the law, then MHQ is gone.

What do you think a court is for? To argue if something is legally wrong or right. If they thought they were going to lose then something must be wrong.

Lot of scrambling going on here today.

    Who is scrambling?

It is simply likely that, now that Israel is not in the list, that the law was not written in such a way that the mandatory designated hotel quarantine could continue to be enforced for them

They will still need to quarantine at home. So the fella with the father in hospital is still not supposed to visit him.

Why was Israel on the list in the first place and why was it taken off?

It was on the list due to the presence of VOCs. It was also on many other countries equivalent lists.

It was on Germany's "red" list to until the start of the month. That meant you could not travel from Israel to Germany unless you were a German resident or citizen, or else an EU citizen. Not MHQ. Just no entry.

I know the Germans don't have a great historical record against many of the people who might live in Israel, but they have become a little better over the past few years so I gather it was based off scientific reasons in this instance.

Er obviously? They thought they would lose, so they won't fight it.
    Who's scrambling for what??

Incredible that Israel sorted out their variants in the space of a week. Fair play to them.

Well I’ve done what I can for now - written long emails to all of my local TDS and councilors and made complaint to the EU.

Fair enough. What about the islands of Bonaire who haven’t had a COVID case in 2021. What variants should we be afraid of there?

Getting to there and back would mean transiting through the Netherlands who are not on our red list.

    What are these “further documentation”?

Or maybe the state knows he’s likely to win

I expect to be corrected on this ,but one of the other cases being brought the state admitted that MHQ is a from of detention, on another forum I visit the conscience is that papers peouduced would amount to if in fect MHQ is a form of detention, that prisoners in a state run prison/ detention centre have in the past been given permission to visit diying relatives and even funerals on compassionate grounds.
Would such grace not be given to people in MHQ

Was the Israel woman released because the country was removed or was it because she was vaccinated?

But they Also released the other Israeli detainee who had no dying relatives or pressing personal matters.

It was because the government don't want the courts examining the constitutionality of MHQ.

Mauritius were on it 2 weeks ago but managed to sort their variants too so were removed from MHQ last week.
Oooh ...... just checked now ... they’re back on mhq. Goodbye logic

Is the process for addition and elimination from MHQ - Civil servants playing with crayons on a globe map?

Well actually, that is not a necessarily strict logical conclusion. You see, all that happened was that the situation in Israel had been improving over time. When the first list was published, they were over some threshold. When it was updated, they were no longer on it. There were numbers published showing drastic and sustained falls in numbers over there the last month or two.

A country might be on a list for a month or a year or longer. But at some stage it will move off the list. So if you start monitoring it just the day before, it might appear to you that the country was only in that status for a day. That would not mean that they sorted out their problems in a single day.

Ireland was also on Germany's red list too until recently. If I give you the German list from the week before, when Ireland is on their list, and the list from the week after. when Ireland is not on the list, you would be incorrect then to conclude that Ireland had just sorted out its variants in the space of a week.

I like how people argue that it is not a detention centre, but all media write that the 2 people have been "released" today. So they were detained?
