can people now travel within 20 km of their home by car? or it is just for physical exercise?

Its exercise "or recreation" now so car is fine.

Be sure to carry proof a €9 meal though in case the gards stop you though.

So HCWs can't live our lives now, even though we have risked them and in some cases lost them while working throughout this pandemic. We are also the guinea pigs for the vaccines (see: the nurse who got a rare blood clot due to AZ vaccine this week) and it's still unclear how long vaccination confers immunity. So we could be wasting months of precious immunity because bitter sad individuals won't want us to be free until they have their freedom too?

I mean, it's true but it's pathetic and those people need to take a look at themselves.

travelling abroad is going to end anyway, the governments signed the Paris agreement (the green deal)and as you can see at page 6 flying and shipping is going to end. People never read what government signed. With zero emission of course there will be no flying and shipping.

I never said travelling abroad! I'd be happy to go to feckin Carlow or even to a beach at the other side of my county. Or will emissions prevent that too.

Also i don't like flying, i always get the ferry when I'm heading over.

Its just for exercise. But that can be to exercise further away than 5km. So if you live 15km from a beach or forest park for example, you could not drive to it, go for your walk or jog, and then drive home. But from tomorrow you can do that. Note that the drive plus the exercise still has to stay within the 20km.

thanks, I have been in a personal lockdown for the last 10 years due to health reasons and I will be happy if the park beside my house will be quiet again. Finally I will be able to sit in a bench when I am too tired. It was bizarre thinking about all healthy people around me having the same style life of a disabled and sick person.

Its within your county or 20kms from your home if its another county.

And its not just for exercise either

as you can see in the pdf travelling will be permitted only by an electric vehicle...no ferry sorry. Ships are not zero emission

it doesn't specifically say it is not for exercise, this is the reason why I didn't understand

I was delighted when I first seen this

Then I remembered I’m delighted been told I can drive across my county and 20km into the next one without being asked for my papers at a checkpoint.

Im obviously suffering some weird form of Stockholm syndrome

Yeah people will have a bit more lee way from tomorrow. When you think back to around a year ago or a little more did we ever think we’d be here at this point being almost grateful to be permitted to travel small a portion of our own country.

Anyone know if you should calculate your allowed radius from your front door or the end of your driveway?

if travelling abroad is to end emigration will go through the roof and immigration will stop to a trickle...part of the attractivness of living in ireland is being able to earn decent money and then fly anywhere in the world...or get away for a few weeks in the winter for some sun...also if polish and lithuanian ect cannot fly home to see their familys once in a while theres no way they would live here long term

If you contact your solicitor, they can furnish you with a map of your property held on the land registry. I would use a compass to calculate the radius from the north, south, east and west points of your property on the map and then connect the edges of the circles to form your allowable travel radius.

I for one think it's wonderful that we're finally being allowed this tiddlywink of freedom despite there being 200 people in hospital with Covid. It's marvelous.

Your talking ****. it's says net zero not absolute zero emmissons. The flying can be offset.

I mean, it's true but it's pathetic and those people need to take a look at themselves.

You should be able to go visit whoever you want at this, go shopping, have a meal with friends, get your hair done etc. There's no good reason why everyone, vaccinated or not shouldn't be allowed. It's absolutely crazy.

With that said, people have been asked to give up so much to protect the vulnerable and health care system. If those two groups get these ridiculously named "vaccine bonuses" then the government will lose all control of the general population and they are terrified of that.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Emigration will not be possible only if you have the right paper given you by the government . If you had experience in first person of what is living under communism you know what I am talking about

it literally says in that report that these are the changes required to hit zero emissions by 2050 using existing technology....

meaning nothing changing in the next 30 years

the idea behind it is to provoke strategic thought into the matter and show the extreme measures that may be needed down the line if innovation doesn't speed up

Now we know why we had so many hospitalised patients 'with covid' in January

1972 patients acquired it in Hospital since December 2020 while being treated for something else.
I've been saying this for months now. Another Conspiracy theory that turns out to be true

    https://www.independent.ie/world-news/coronavirus/revealed-the-hospitals-where-patients-caught-covid-during-the-third-wave-of-the-pandemic-40298584.html

When the bill for this is all totted up, Irish people will finally realize the con job that has been pulled on them.

It'll be too late by then of course.

10s of billions pissed away for nothing.

and why they are closing all the airports?

And that figure will be even higher. I think the article said that three hospitals including the Mater still haven't provided the figures despite repeated requests. So how many of those who died with it caught it in hospital ?

The only two people I heard of who who died with it both caught it in hospital.

we are already living under communist restriction, it will be very traumatic for many people when they will start to realize this

and why they are closing all the airports?

    they're not...

that report is an example of what needs to be done to hit true zero emissions using existing technology....

Where in reality, no one will be able to hit this by 2050 without advances in technology and heavy investment in carbon offsetting (which the report has very little on)..

as mentioned, it's a strategic thought provoker study.

    edit:

    from the report

    "In writing
this report, we have therefore assumed that:
    • the target of zero emissions is absolute - there are no
negative emissions options or meaningful “carbon
offsets.” Absolute Zero means zero emissions;"

so it's not taking into account any current technology trends such as carbon offsetting methods, energy storage, smart grids feeding back into the network, de-carbonising transport methods, creating lower emission technologies, lab grown meat or insect consumption won't increase yada yada yada..

I know how life was in Yougoslavia, some people liked communism especially the ones that worked in public sector. I didn't like the lack of freedom but the place was very clean and not criminals in the streets, only in the government

The problem is that it's almost impossible to discuss any of this because it is dismissed as a conspiracy theory. Someone will come along soon and write 'conspiracy theory forum is that way'.
