    How did the virus start?
    How does any virus start?
Is this the worst crisis to ever face humanity?
Is this a crisis worth destroying economies over?
How many illnesses can be spread by humans and animals?

No intelligent or analytical comeback was needed for a post that lacked any intelligence.

So restrictions were the problem?....not some peoples personal behaviour which paid little attention to any restrictions or advice? No personal responsibility on individuals to behave sensibly? Nonsense....lol

The Irish have been probably the most compliant population in the world; we've had the longest lockdown in the western world and yet very few protests. But sure blame the stupid covidiots eh

Your basing the most compliant population in the world on absolutely nothing, be honest. The number of cases suggest otherwise

I already said that the restrictions/lockdowns were too harsh and have ran for far too long in ireland. But some restrictions are necessary, there is a reason why basically everywhere on the world had/have some to a degree.

The vast majority of your questions are not relevant to what I said, just a really clear and obvious attempt to muddy the waters.

How is this virus spread? are you saying no restrictions are necessary? That would be contrary to pretty much any other country in the world, even Sweden has some.

Your last line doesn't deserve a response maybe have some manners.

    It's not muddying anything.
No, I don't believe the restrictions were helpful at all, in fact I'd argue they caused far more suffering and health risks than the actual virus.
Our measures are Draconian, are you saying we match other countries responses?

Maybe some people don't want to risk possible infection or their just being careful in case of close proximity to others. The point is who knows what anyones reasons are.

In Spain - mask wearing outdoors has been made mandatory since the End of March. I'd love to hear the reaction if the government here brought that in.

I do wonder how many would go on holiday there - if Spain still has that rule in the summer?

I live near the sea. I must start wearing a life jacket as I go about my day to day business just in case I accidentally get pitched into the sea. Can’t be too careful.

I view outdoor mask wearing in the same way.

But some restrictions are necessary to suggest otherwise is madness imo, even Sweden has had some

It is quite disturbing our kids are still not allowed train for their sports.

How? We have one of the lowest rates of COVID in the world. We have had stable numbers for weeks and weeks.

It is shocking and we all just sit back and let it happen. Trusting these ultra conservative hawks. Disgusting.

It’s apathy. Most people are doing ok so couldn’t care less.

We’ll also have one of the highest rates anywhere of overweight kids.

This bit is mostly the point of the thread. The arguments have, for much of the duration of the crisis, been in opposition to those that believe restrictions all along have been proportional and rational at all stages. There has been staunch defence of each and every NPHET recommendation and government enaction of same, which in itself is strange no matter where you fall on the fear spectrum. An opinion to open up and let it rip is rare.

I don't think anyone's looking for no restrictions at the moment but there's a sense of moderation completely lacking in ireland compared to everywhere else

Yeah cos that's what the comment said

It details those who "choose" to wear a mask when outdoors.

But make sure not to head to Spain etc atm - where the wearing of Masks outdoors is mandatory.

I said it before and I'll say it again, a **** show of a country.

This is what frustrates me, you can say to yourself that surely the opposition can’t be any worse but they sit quietly through all the government **** ups and suggest things that nobody gives a **** about ... never mind agree with.

Being in opposition should be easy right now, where none of them can be convincing at this point it really fills me with despair

It's not a crusade, I'm just asking for a source for a claim being made and if the boot was on the other foot boggles would be asking for the exact same

    Exactly this.

Is it any wonder the same politicians get voted back in? The Irish public are fools of the highest order and the generalisation around the world that Irish people are thick has been well and truly been deemed true as a result of so many idiots and me feiners who think they look at a couple of numbers and know everything.

Do you consider yourself to be a fool? Do you consider yourself to be thick and an idiot? You do realise that if you are a member of the Irish public, you've included yourself in that massive generalisation.

Just a few short weeks before we can lift restrictions once people are vaccinated. What does that mean? How many vaccinated before they're happy to allow us the live life.

Has anywhere in the world announced how many people need to be vaccinated in order to ease restrictions?

He would of course. He has in the past. I've asked questions of people in this thread too. Sometimes repeatedly. Sometimes you don't get an answer. Sometimes you do. I suppose 'crusade' was a bit much. Boggles...care to answer?

Surely its time to live up to the original claim, our hospitals are not overrun, that was the only reason the government gave for the original lock down which seems to be a lifetime ago, with our very elderly and others fully vaccinated now, its time to stop rewarding people with platitudes and to actually make meaningful changes that improve peoples lives at little risk to public health, including all outdoor sports to resume immediately (with dressing rooms and club houses closed), outdoor dining in bars and restaurants, sales of basics like clothing and shoes to resume etc.
At the end of last year the government claimed that we were on the home straight and that vaccines would change everything, and vaccines have changed things, but not our freedom to live something close to normality

If the vast majority of business's opened up fully in the morning the government, sorry I mean NPHET could not do a damn thing about it. But I do understand business's reluctance to do so, in fear of being fined etc. But, I'm afraid that's the only way this nonsense/madness ends.

This sums up the idiocy of everything we have had the last year.

Those things shouldn't be sold for a wide range of reasons.

    Covid isn't one of them.
