I don't think we will be seeing too many on these shores anyway. These are now 120k plus cars here before you even look at the options list.

I think BMW make dealers order a certain number of high end cars like these every year so I’m guessing there will be a few in stock around in a short while.
They are crazy money here though I agree.

Yes and I'm sure Colm Quinn will find homes for them. I think I remember reading before that he sold more high end BMWs than any other dealer in the country.

Yes it’s remarkable. Colm Quinn are only in business about ten years I think yet have managed to grow hugely and outsell other dealers.
I bought my current car there and they were pretty good but negotiating was a bit bizarre.

I've heard you'd need to be pretty thick skinned to work for him.

Yeah they opened the Athlone depot in 2008.

It's one of the nicer BMW showrooms I've been in. Staff are very friendly and they make sure you take the free coffee and grub when you're there :D

Yes. I imagine beneath the veneer of friendly chat, coffee customer service etc. It’s dog eat dog and survival of the fittest in there for the workforce.

No personal experience of dealing with them but I heard nearly every negotiation has to be approved by the boss himself too.

That is true. When I bought the 535d from them a few years back I was dealing with a salesman, who then had to report to the head sales guy who then cleared everything with colm. A very odd experience of sitting in an office with two sales reps and colm lingering outside. And I've heard he is a tough cookie to work for too, and not in a nice way at all.

But the staff have always been sound and great to deal with.

I sent them a mail before asking were they in the business of selling cars or what when I couldn't get a reply while trying to buy a 640d. I got a phone call from the main man himself after that. :D

I'd say someone got the sack that day :D

I don't think so at all, backed the employee all the way over the phone. Perhaps a telling off happened privately but I got the impression they were just so busy it didn't matter much.

Had a very similar experience. Spent a couple of hours with sales guy but when negotiating, brought into a room with sales guy opposite me and then manager sat between us with his laptop which neither I or sales man could see. Manager made the running up to a point but when it came to the crunch he had to go to Colm who I could see in the office opposite to get the go ahead. Thinking back it was slightly unnerving as it was one against three but I got what I wanted in the end so all was well.

Its one of the oldest car sales tactics in the book - walking out to talk to the boss makes the buyer feel special and that they are doing everything possible to get the best deal for you etc. Hence the many glass walls you see in garages. Its highly likely that the junior sales guy knows the bottom line and Colm in this case isn't actually adding anything to the conversation, but the buyer seeing him makes them feel special etc.

I had the opposite experience buying a new Skoda- was dealing with the garage owner, but when it came to pushing him on price, he left the room as he said he need to talk to the expert and I could see him went out to chat with his junior sales exec - another tactic designed to confuse!

Does that kind of hardball negotiation apply in the Colm Quinn superstore do you know, hardly I think as they are not selling the high-end cars there. But trying to negotiate at the mo and not getting v far - was offered v little for my trade in. Obviously in these times it is not face to face so it is harder to judge.

Look what's back again. I can't remember for sure but has it gone up in price a couple of grand?

I think you’re right and that was for sale for about 40 grand recently.
    45 is too high

Yep, it was 42k when I posted it back in early February:

    https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=116194913&postcount=6569

Now seems to be back at near the price is advertised last year down in Waterford. Seems to be moving around like Covid.

Edit: Motor tax website says ownership hasn't changed in the last 3 months so I wonder was it being used by a member of staff?

I know that a car like that is dearer to import now, but that fact doesn't mean that the prospective buyers can immediately fork out another few grand.

That sales technique is a load of crap.
Wouldnt deal with that at all.
Got enough of bmw galway when they sat me down to look at figures on a demo 330e a few years back that had 11k off as advertised even though it was actually more than the new price after grants.

If they have what you want and the price is right sometimes it's worth putting up with their nuances though.

Yeah. At the end of the day I enjoy a bit of haggling and knowing you can always just walk away if not happy.

It seems to be a sellers market at the moment due to demand outstripping supply. I would recommend trying other dealers to give you a realistic idea of what your car is worth to the trade.

    Picked up my 330e yesterday.
Very happy so far. It’s a huge step up from the f30 series model I had before. Quality, fit and finish are comparable to the five in most areas and way better than previously.
Performance and handling really are excellent and the ride on the adaptive suspension is much more comfortable than I expected. In normal mode It’s impossible to tell a lot of time if you’re running on electric or petrol power. Sport mode turns it into a very very fast car but it’s quick enough in normal driving. It feels much more like a sports car than the five series which handled well for its size but was a bit of a boat compared to this car.
Interior is obviously less plush than the five but not enough to bother me. The harman kardon sound system doesn’t sound as good as the five series but I’m hoping it just needs to bed in and I’m just accustomed to the old audio sounds.

I have a feeling it’s going to be very cheap to run and a bit of fun when required too.

    Lovely car.
Im not a fan of estate cars usually but that looks great.
    What size are those wheels?

Woah that looks great in that colour spec! When you said you were going for black I thought no don't do it! But that looks smashing!

    Looks absolutely great, enjoy it!

The G20 is a real step up in interior quality from the F30.

Got to see G20 when it was unveiled in Paris in 2018. Myself and my colleagues were so impressed by it, that we went back three times to take a proper look.

They’re 19” alloys. They’re the standard alloy with the m sport pro pack. Pack also gives you adaptive suspension so ride is not harsh at all.

Colour choice isn’t great on the m sport. Black, white, mineral grey or portimao blue.
Will be constantly cleaning it though. Black always high maintenance to keep looking well.

    Tell me about it.
2 black cars, at least hers isn't moving much with lockdown.
Mines a black estate, the back is a disaster to keep clean.

That said looks class when clean

Red break callipers really make it I think. Didn’t know they were an option, did you consider an xdrive one?

Beautiful car, well wear and safe motoring
