Looks like Biden will indeed be a great friend of Ireland.

Hardly in the door and Biden is planning the first major federal tax hike since 1993.

Propping up the economy during a Pandemic ain't gonna pay for itself.

I am confused now though. I was told Biden was corporate Democrat subservient to Wall Street yet is threatening to make corporations pay their fair share..

Good. Drumpf's cuts cost them an estimated 1.3 trillion. Time to squeeze some rich pips.

Jesus thats a bad move especially at such a precarious time in the economy . Typical of democrats to do the wrong thing tax wise. The government needs to tighten its belt, not tax people more during this.

mandating a 21% corporate tax worldwide is absolutely insane, Companies should be free to be tax resident wherever they want without an oppressive top up tax to it.

you must love paying more taxes then! i think we should move to 15% soon, just to cool all of this off a bit, or we ll be forced into somewhere that really will be dangerous for us

Nonsense, while this could be a bad move for Ireland it is potentially a great move for the US.

The last thing Governments should be doing now is cutting expenditure, it should be ramped up with increased capital expenditure, and the US is crying out for improved infrastructure, which can be paid for by increased taxes on corporations who have up to now been on the receiving end of some very generous tax cuts at the expense of actual people.

america is a sovereign state, it is the creator of its own currency, so it effectively doesnt have to pay back its own debts to itself

You increases taxes on business and they just pass it on to the consumer anyway.

Jesus thats a bad move especially at such a precarious time in the economy . Typical of democrats to do the wrong thing tax wise. The government needs to tighten its belt, not tax people more during this.

The most significant planned changes are:
    • increasing the income tax rate on earnings over $400,000
    • increasing the corporate tax from 21% to 28%
    • increasing the GILTI tax from 10.5% to 21%
    • creating a higher capital-gains tax rate for individuals making at least $1 million.

So, the average American will barely be affected (if at all) and the rich will instead be taxed more. Would you like to explain to us why you think this is a bad thing, and how you would instead go about improving the US economy?

Well proven that the government don't waste tax payers money? I have a truck load of evidence to the contrary.

    Exhibit 1: the HSE

So more expensive products and less businesses breaking even. Sounds like a plan.

so for example, if we reduced funding for the health service, do you really think it would improve it?

Are you suggesting that the US government does not waste tax dollars?

That comment alone demonstrates that you don't understand basic economics, but do please tell what your alternative plan is to improve the economy anyway. We are all ears.

I'm not suggesting anything. I am asking why a reference to the HSE is relevant to a discussion on the US economy.

    Riddle me this.

How come our per capita spending on health care is one of the highest in the world? You think the solution is more money?

or a more serious attempt at reducing rapidly rising wealth inequality! you do realise most wealthy individuals, businesses, institutions etc etc, arent actually using this wealth to truly create jobs, and bettering society?
