Never legally had to close. It was just advised from the government

I thought fines were given out for it :o

No fines AFAIK but the Garda can object to license renewal and would probably be successful

What makes you think that? It's reported in multiple media sources that NI will do this. Arlene said something similar on live TV.

No, as far as i know they didn't say they will be sending 3m vaccines across the border in the next few weeks. Could you show a link to where they said they would do that?

I have seen Arlene say she supports sending vaccines across the border and the UK government has said they are considering sending vaccines to Rep of Ireland AFTER they have vaccinated their own population, not in the next few weeks and not confirmed at all.

Firstly NI doesn't get to make those decisions as London controls the plan. Arlene thinks UK should share but listen to the detail.
When the UK has vaccinated their own people first.
Look a little further and you'll see the Irish government are unaware of any offer.
Look a little further and the suggestion is that if and thats a big if, it does happen it could be August.
Let's be honest, if they offer vaccines in August it's a bit like offering the use of a fire extinguisher after the house has burned down.

You're right apart from the last part. If we are behind the UK in August, then any additional vaccines would be helpful to make sure we have as many adults vaccinated as possible before winter.

Yeah a few will go across but I depends on what’s you’re calling a flood of people. If you’re imagining thousands of people, the probably not. If you’re imagining tens or even a few hundred, then maybe. They can’t hire a bus together, can’t all travel in a car together and can’t stay the night as hotels aren’t open.

So some people who can travel in small groups and get home the same day might go across the border. If you call that a flood, then yes people will flood across the border.

of course hotels will be open, why would hotels not be allowed open when pubs are. People will book into hotels in derry, armagh and belfast from all over ireland and northern tourist groups will naturally be delighted to see them. Someone said that pubs in the north wont be bothered with "daytrippers" how on earth would they know someones from Emyvale or Clones or Buncrana or that there from derry city or Omagh or Lifford/stabane?

If you say so. The English government are planning to reopen pubs and some other businesses before the reopen hotels. But maybe you're well informed on this matter....

Irish hospitality businesses will be lucky to open for more than a month this year thanks to NPHET.

Make sure you thank our Saviours, Tony and Micheal, for your €350 a week.

When are pubs in NI and Wales opening? Do you think pubs in ireland won't open till December or they'll be closed again 4 weeks after reopening.?

The reality is that many of wet pub owners especially in rural areas are much better off staying closed.

I see a lot of commentary about all of them getting €5000 a week to stay closed... that’s for a highest turnover pubs, my buddy is getting 750 then 350 pup, it’s barely covering costs! Has a family to feed as well

Pubs and hospitality completely ignored yet again.

The same old bull****ters have been on here today claiming "they're happy to be closed", "pubs much better off staying closed" and so on while the same types of businesses will be opening in less than 2 weeks in England!

The UK have a huge vaccine push, we haven't. If we tried that the hospitals would be full in three weeks.

Outdoor dining is opening in Scotland the end of April afaik

So in Ireland, are we waiting for enough people to get the Vaccine so we can open indoor and outdoor hospitality ?.

    NPHET very content tonight

The pubs and hotels etc. are keeping fierce quiet now!

They're getting some rake of cash weekly. A lot of the rural ones have never made so much.

    What costs??????

No rates and most pubs are owned, not rented!

Then most pubs have couples running it so add another 350 per week for her, that's nearly 1500 per week! No way would they be making this kind of money in most pubs.

That might be the case in the back arse of nowhere, but not in a city.

The cities are getting income through takeaway pints and they're going to be out the door with people when they open.

They'll have 5 years business in 1 year when it reopens.

If 1 in 20 pubs are doing takeaway pints I'd be surprised.

How are they going to do 5 years business? Are they going to suddenly be able to fit 5x as many people? Or will the regulars suddenly be on 25 pints a day?

Quite a few pubs are doing takeaway pints now. Diageo are delivering again.

There'll be more in the coming weeks and rightly so!

No doubt, but the vast majority aren't bothering, there's only 2 pubs near me doing delivery pints, and I'm Dublin CC.

It's only really viable if you're near a park or green.

Jesus like why bother, you get a much nicer beer from your local off licence and head up to the park to drink it there if thats what you want.... takeaway pints are a cod, diagio tryin to get rid of their ould shyte for double the price

I was gonna say the only drink I'd want from a pub over an off licence is a pint of Guinness, but then, I presume takeaway pints are being served in plastic glasses?
