People would be saying "something is afoot".

Have I fallen asleep and woken up in a sherlock holmes novel?

Joe wouldn't be the candidate as he's sleepy....
Joe wouldn't make it to the debates as he's sleepy.....
Joe wouldn't win the presidency as he's sleepy.....
Joe wouldn't make it to inauguration as he's sleepy.....
Joe wouldn't have a press conference as he's sleepy.

    Slow and steady wins sometimes.
    Not insane rambling and lies.

'Joe hasn't done anything in 47 years!' transitioned in to 'Joe is doing too much too quickly'.

Just another example of how Biden's weak on work/life balance.

he got very passionate about republicans introducing a bill re voting laws.

didnt understand that as they republicans cant do a thing without bi partisan agreement from (i'm not sure how many representatives and senators).

about the filibuster, i disagree with it. those who have the majority (and the population by extension) should be allowed to pass laws. it will lead to tit for tat whenever the same party has the majority in both houses which is counter productive really.
so maybe get rid, but agree you need 52-55 votes (or something), so at least there is some bi-partisanship.

on the face of it, i dont see the problem...those with the majority can do stuff. need to read more on it and why it would be so detrimental to get rid of it.

I have no issue with the filibuster per se but they should be made do an actual filibuster instead of just the threat of one being enough.

Jim Carrey summed up the MAGA heads in his SNL Biden impression.

"Plan for the pandemic? You don't even have a plan for me. First I'm creepy, then I'm sleepy. You say I have dementia, then you say I'm a criminal mastermind."

as i said, i need to read some more on it; but i will draw a comparison to ireland (and this may be way off).

imagine a majority government (or a coalition with a majority) tried to pass a piece of legislation and mary lou spoke (or threatened to) for 12 hours to stop that being passed.

    just doesn't seem correct.

So it's not just doctored videos you post then but out of context quotes as well. The full quote is:

"You don't have Russia talking about communism anymore. It's about autocracy. That's what's at stake. We have to prove that democracy works."

I'd ask you what you think about this but there's no point as you seem unable to have an independent thought of your own.

    Ah Jasus, that's fairly pathetic.

    But expected.

dont know if that changes anything, but thats the full quote.

Some posters on here determined to shoot the messenger and ignore the message.

A very heartening press conference from a competent President who cares and at least has a coherent agenda.

Bit, but, but, he stutters! The professional trolling on social media is quite depressing and designed to dishearten and discourage rational debate.

It’s very telling that there’s very little criticism of Biden’s policies on the thread.

The trolls don't have the intelligence for rational debate, that's why they focus on his stutter etc. They just post to get attention and a reaction. Ask them anything about his policies and they run away.

got a bit shouty at times..republicans trying to change voting laws, and rebuilding the middle class.

i initially thought i liked his answer on china. not so sure, he was framing it as 2 old pals going into competition against each other with a little dig on trump for not doing that. i dont think china will give a ****.

not sure how he will square the need for infrastructure upgrades with the climate agenda. you shut down infrastructure already with the stroke of a pen.

all in all, think it was a fine press conference. he read off a script re north korea but that happens. answered all questions, didnt dodge any. there were no howlers (i was expecting at least 1).

few contradictions as well, at the start it was everyone wants to leave these central american countries. at the end he was questioning why they even want to leave.
liked this one though...about his great grandfather leaving via the irish sea cos of what the brits were doing :pac:

maybe some more follow up questions should have been allowed but as an anti-Biden, i will give him props. i think polls will show that over the weekend.

about gun control...was reading in the other thread that this right cannot be removed. if that is the case, that this huge right that cannot be removed; I would pass a law giving an equally huge responsibility. if a gun you are the registered owner of is used in a crime, you are charged as if you were also the perpetrator. unless you can prove it was stolen from when you were not there to use it to defend yourself.

gave himself a get of jail with this meeting with the leaders of EU countries to cut it short.

thats abit rambling as i was typing during it.

there were virtually no questions on his domestic policy.

immigration must have accounted for 75% of that press conference. and it was all we have a plan. no questions on who is being let in, what vetting is being done, where they are going, how they will make ends meet, have they all been tested for covid.

no question on potential tax hikes, which the person on the ground is more concerned about.

infrastructure...well he has demonstrated that that doesn't really matter.

job creation...nothing, except a statement about how the middle class will get better somehow.

i thought the boy done well ( i realise the grammar if that's your gripe), but it turns out he didn't take a single question from fox.

    what a coward.

    Maybe Fox didn't attend.

They might have been down in Mar-a-Lago polishing Trumps balls on the golf course.

Fox make clear they are *not* a news station.

Doocy therefore isn't a proper reporter.

I wasn’t talking about the presser.

I mean in this thread, very little criticism from Trumpers of Biden’s policies. Its usually because he’s made a slip of the tongue (or feet), or Biko posted above, a self deprecating joke.

It basically comes down to Trumpers not caring about policy, they just prefer the pantomime that surrounded Trump.

He also complained afterwards that Biden didn’t cover most of what he had prepared.

Considering what Biden did cover, vaccination roll-out, immigration, the filibuster, Rescue Plan, re-election and Afghanistan, it begs the question what did Doocy prepare questions on?
Appearing on camera from outside the White House, Mr Doocy held up a “binder full of questions” that he had ready, complaining that most of the topics he had prepared were not covered at the event.

Ah, the famous "binder full of".

Wasn't that a prop used by Kayleigh used in that press conference which she wouldn't open?

The same kind of folders trump appeared with when he was claiming he had divested from his companies?

An empty folder is a perfect symbol for Doocy.

So many perfect questions, no one ever had so many great questions as Doocy. The binder was full of the most perfect questions ever.

Also quite telling and predictable that this thread was overrun with Trumpsters when Biden fell but hardly a whimper from them after the press conference they were whinging so much about him not holding. It's almost as if they didn't care about the press conference at all and it was just another weak stick to beat him with. What are they going to cry about now?
