    Monsieur Spade
The Queen’s Gambit co-creator Scott Frank is heading back to the 1960s. Clive Owen is set to star in Monsieur Spade, a one-hour drama series from Frank and City On a Hill showrunner Tom Fontana, which is currently being pitched, generating a lot of interest from buyers, Deadline has learned.

The predominantly French language series will be produced by French production company Haut et Court (The Returned, The Young Pope) and will be shot entirely on location in France. It is being eyed as an international co-production with a premium cable network or streamer.

Co-written by Frank and Fontana and to be directed by Frank, Monsieur Spade centers around writer Dashiell Hammett’s great detective, Sam Spade, played by Owen, who has been quietly living out his golden years in the small town of Bozuls in the South of France. It’s 1963, the Algerian War has just ended, and in a very short time, so, too, will Spade’s

    Let the Right One In
Showtime has given a formal pilot green light to Let the Right One In, a vampire drama starring Demián Bichir (A Better Life). The project hails from Away creator Andrew Hinderaker, who will serve as showrunner, Seith Mann (Homeland), who will direct, and Tomorrow Studios, which has been the driver behind the project in its various incarnations for more than six years.

Inspired by the best-selling 2004 novel by Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist and its 2008 Swedish film adaptation, the series centers on a father, Mark (Bichir) and his 12-year-old daughter whose lives were changed forever 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire. Locked in at age 12, perhaps forever, Eleanor lives a closed-in life, able to go out only at night, while her father does his best to provide her with the minimal amount of human blood she needs to stay alive.

Ugh - Demián Bichir To Star In ‘Let the Right One In’ Showtime Drama Pilot From ‘Away’ Creator & Tomorrow Studios

“The series is both a love letter to the original film, and a story entirely our own,” said Hinderaker. “And casting a true artist like Demián epitomizes our bold aspiration to be one of the most terrifying shows on TV, and one of the most moving.”

They're already changing the core premise, so I guess they'll change more than enough to squeeze a series out of it.

Must be hard to plan a series about an eternal 12 year old. Unless they get an adult who looks 12, how do they account for things like puberty/growth spurts?

‘Killing Eve’ to End With Season 4 at BBC America, Spinoffs in Development

The critically-acclaimed BBC America series was renewed for a fourth season in January 2020, but filming was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production on Season 4 is now slated to begin in early summer in the U.K. and locations across Europe. The final season will consist of eight episodes.

In addition, AMC Networks and Sid Gentle Films Ltd, which produces “Killing Eve,” are working to develop potential spinoffs to extend the world created in the series.

“’Killing Eve’ has been one of my greatest experiences and I look forward to diving back into Eve’s remarkable mind soon,” said series star Sandra Oh. “I’m so grateful for all cast and crew who have brought our story to life and to the fans who have joined us and will be back for our exciting and unpredictable fourth and final season.”

“Killing Eve” is based on the “Villanelle” novels by Luke Jennings and follows a British Intelligence operative who engages in a game of cat and mouse with an international assassin. It stars Oh, Jodie Comer, and Fiona Shaw.

“’Killing Eve’ has been the most extraordinary journey and one that I will be forever grateful for,” said Comer. “Thank you to all the fans who’ve supported us throughout and come along for the ride. Although all good things come to an end, it’s not over yet. We aim to make this one to remember!”

Laura Neal will serve as the head writer, showrunner, and executive producer on Season 4 in keeping with the show’s tradition of naming a new head writer each season. Phoebe Waller-Bridge filled the role in Season 1, followed by Emerald Fennell and Suzanne Heathcote.

Shaka: King Of The Zulu Nation
Showtime has given a series order to hourlong drama Shaka: King of the Zulu Nation, executive produced and directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day). The series, an epic drama centered around one man’s personal journey from stigmatized childhood to warrior king, hails from writers Olu Odebunmi and Tolu Awosika (The Terminal List), Ben Silverman and Howard T. Joe Exotic Documentary for BBC in the Works From Louis Theroux

10 years after he first met the Tiger King, 'Louis Theroux: The Cult of Joe Exotic' will see the doc maker return to Oklahoma to explore what happened since.
The Tiger King is getting the Louis Theroux documentary treatment.

Joseph Maldonado-Passage, better known as Joe Exotic, will be the subject of a new feature- length film from the BBC's famed doc maker, who returns to America for the first time since 2019.

With the working title Louis Theroux: The Cult of Joe Exotic, the feature was commissioned by BBC Two and comes 10 years after Theroux first met Exotic whilst making his documentary America’s Most Dangerous Pets. Heading back to Oklahoma, Theroux will explore what has happened since, with the big cat man now residing in a federal prison, having been found guilty of a murder-for-hire plot and multiple animal cruelty charges. But rather than a pariah, Exotic is now a media phenomenon with a well-funded campaign team who were attempting to win him a presidential pardon. Meanwhile, Nicolas Cage is due to play Exotic in an upcoming CBS drama series picked up by Amazon.

"This is one of those quintessentially American stories, taking place in the heartland of Oklahoma, with a cast of characters almost too colourful and larger-than-life to be believed," said Theroux. "I spent eight or nine days filming at the park back in 2011, over the course of three separate visits. I’d forgotten how much we shot until I went back into the footage during lockdown. It’s extraordinary how much was there. Since then the story just got stranger and bigger, and in going back at the end of last year I uncovered a real-life drama that took me in directions I never could have expected."

Added Clare Sillery, the BBC's head of commissioning, documentaries, history and religion: "In this follow-up to Louis’ revelatory first-look at the life of Joe Exotic in America’s Most Dangerous Pets, viewers will be taken even more deeply into the weird world of one of America’s most notorious figures. This feature-length special will be full to the brim with never-before-seen footage and brand new interviews with those on all sides of the Joe Exotic story."

‘Man Who Fell to Earth’ Series Shifts to Showtime From Paramount Plus

The drama series starring Chiwetel Ejiofor was originally developed for Paramount Plus, née CBS All Access. The show’s segue to Showtime is the second half of the decision made last month to send “Halo,” the long-awaited adaptation of the popular Xbox video game, to Paramount Plus after it had been years in the making at the cabler.

The series shuffle is a perfect illustration of the calculations going on at major networks and studios all across town as entertainment’s biggest players launch content-hungry streaming platforms.

Programmers were once challenged to figure out which night and time slot would be best to turn a new show into a big hit. Today, execs stare at grids of multiple platform options and strategize how quickly, or not, to give a show a second (or third) window on a sibling channel.

    Roads To Freedom
Ridley Scott and Steven Knight are teaming for Roads to Freedom, a 10-episode epic that will tell the story of World War II from several international perspectives, based on Sir Antony Beevor’s books.

The intention is to tell the story using fresh and unique perspectives. While most Hollywood war films have focused on the American and British effort, Roads to Freedom will portray the brutal realities from multiple viewpoints, with characters not only from the U.S. and UK but also from Russia, Germany, France and other countries across the globe. That includes women, and children struggling to survive. The emphasis is on humanity, the characters bound together by one dramatic story. Some of the story lines will be discomforting, but heroic, and the race between East and West to capture Berlin will shed light on what became the foundations of the Cold War.

    Five Days At Memorial
Vera Farmiga has been tapped as the lead in Five Days At Memorial, Apple TV+’s limited series from John Ridley, Carlton Cuse and ABC Signature. The project, which chronicles events in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, reunites former Bates Motel star Farmiga with the Psycho prequel’s co-creator/executive producer Cuse.

Written by Ridley and Cuse based on the acclaimed nonfiction book by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Sheri Fink, Five Days at Memorial chronicles the first five days in a New Orleans hospital after Hurricane Katrina made landfall. When the floodwaters rose, the power failed and the heat climbed, exhausted caregivers were forced to make life-and-death decisions that haunted them for years to come.

Farmiga will play the role of Dr. Anna Pou, the doctor on duty at Memorial when the storm hit.

Ultimately, 40 dead bodies were found in the hospital. The book looks to answer the question of whether medical staff at Memorial, led by Dr. Pou, euthanized critically ill patients after being trapped in the hospital for days without power. It also focuses on an attempt to prosecute Pou and two nurses for homicide after an investigation showed elevated levels of morphine and other drugs in 23 patients who had died at the hospital over the five-day period during Katrina.

Three More ‘Game of Thrones’ Spinoffs in the Works at HBO

HBO is developing a trio of new “Game of Thrones” prequel series, sources tell Variety.

One spinoff, titled “9 Voyages” or “Sea Snake,” hails from “Rome” co-creator Bruno Heller, while the other two, “Flea Bottom,” and “10,000 Ships” have no writers yet attached.

“9 Voyages” would center on Lord Corlys Velaryon — known as the “Sea Snake” and head of House Velaryon, husband to Rhaenys Targaryen — on the Sea Snake vessel. The most well-known nautical adventurer in all of Westeros, Lord Corlys — built a house even wealthier than the Lannisters and claims the largest navy in the world.

“Flea Bottom” would take place in the poorest district of King’s Landing, while “10,000 Ships” revolves around Princess Nymeria, who journeyed with the Rhoynar to Dorne and married Lord Mors Martell.

While this thread is brilliant for following what shows are in the works, is there a thread for posts when they start to air? Because I know that I'm either going to forget about or miss most of them! :pac:

I use this (decent app also):

    https://www.tvtime.com/

Anything that looks interesting I add there and it tells me when it is on.

    https://seriesgui.de/ with Android App.

It is a pity that these apps/websites are going to get 'lost' in the thread.

    Edit: -
Found this old thread, so quoted posts from here on it: - How do you track your TV shows?

‘True Lies’ Pilot Moves Off Cycle at CBS
One of only three new pilots CBS has ordered this year, “True Lies,” which was given a pilot order last month, is moving off cycle to give producers more time to produce and film the pilot this summer.

The series is an adaptation of the 1994 film of the same name starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton, Tia Carrere, Art Malik, Eliza Dushku, and Grant Heslov.

CBS has a total of nine pilots, two-thirds of which are holdovers from the previous season, which was swiftly knocked off course by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Burn Notice” creator Matt Nix is penning the “True Lies” pilot; he is also executive producing via Flying Glass of Milk Productions. McG will direct the pilot and executive produce via Wonderland Sound and Vision. James Cameron, the director of the original film, will executive produce through Lightstorm Entertainment alongside Rae Sanchini. Executive producing are Mary Viola of Wonderland with Josh Levy of Flying Glass of Milk and Corey Marsh of Wonderland co-executive producing. 20th Television is the studio behind the series.

This version of “True Lies” is a second endeavor at adapting the film into a TV series, after Fox handed the project a put pilot commitment in 2017.

Rounding out CBS’ trio of new pilot orders this season are comedy projects from Sarah Cooper (a single-cam project based on her book “How to be Successful Without Hurting Men’s Feelings”) and Mark Gross (an untitled multi-cam project based on the life of professional bowler Tom Smallwood, who in the series is laid off from a GM factory assembly line and decides to provide for his family by bowling professionally.

David Hasselhoff is heading to Germany to star in a comedy spy series produced by Christian Alvart’s Berlin-based Syrreal Entertainment in what will be the first project from the company’s new international first-look deal with CBS Studios.

A straight-to-series order for Mediengruppe RTL’s SVOD platform TVNow, “Ze Network” sees Hasselhoff playing himself as he travels to Germany to headline a stage production in what he believes is a major theater in East Berlin, only to discover it’s actually a small venue located “east of Berlin” — in the town of Görlitz. Once there, the Hoff is plunged into the center of an international conspiracy of former Cold War assassins, while around him the fabric of reality seems to break down.

German actor Henry Hübchen (“Go for Zucker,” “8 Days”) also stars as a more enigmatic version of himself who may actually be a former international spy — and a member of the mysterious Network.

I Would Do Anything For Love… But I Won’t Do That
Meat Loaf is preparing to run right into hell and back with a TV competition series based on his iconic 1993 hit “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That).”

The artist, born Michael Lee Aday, has sealed a pact with Nobody’s Hero, the production company set up by Christopher Potts and Jonty Nash, two of the creatives behind Netflix’s Nailed It!, to develop a relationship competition series.

Maybe he’s crazy, but it’s true that Meat Loaf, who will exec produce the project, will feature as the ethereal figure behind the madness. He will pull the strings in the show, which will see couples compete in a variety of comedic physical games designed to reveal how well they can work together and how much they really trust and believe in each other – all to a soundtrack of classic hits, performed live in studio by the original artists as well as new stars.
