This is false information. There are under 18s that have been severely ill. Lots of under 18s experiencing long COVID symptoms. What the long term effects are who knows. Keep your kids safe.

This is just baseless scaremongering that's becoming extremely tiresome. Its extremely rare for under 18s to have serious illness and this is evident from the data available. How many children have died in Ireland from Covid? Very few fortunately and zero primary aged children. If serious illness was prevalent in children there would be far more deaths in this age group.

The risks to this age group are extremely tiny, more so for those without any underlying conditions and there are many many resources and studies available that prove this for anyone bothered enough to do their own research.

Why does your side of the discussion always revert to these pointless attacking posts? I posted facts and opinion. If you disagree then explain why. Attacking me when you hear something you don't want to hear just makes you look childish.

Nothing to do with anyones side. Just sick of these hollow, patronising phrases.

As if the one who's saying it is in the sole possession of the one and only and obvious truth and anyone disagreeing is obviously intellectually challenged or something.

If you want an actual discussion cut it out. I'm not your 7 year old child struggling to tie their laces.

No deaths today and low corona numbers. The government need to get proactive.

I personally know 3 children who got it very bad. 2 hospitalised and 1 very nearly.

So when I see a family go shopping together, kids pawing everything, I think they probably should take things more seriously.

Suggesting children are immune is not true though

Suggesting children are immune is not true though

All data shows this is not a significant risk for kids. End of story.

Neither is suggesting its any kind of extraordinary threat to them.

If only people were as concerned about the kids who don't have symptoms of covid.

Exactly the Ombudsman for children raised this a few weeks ago, their mental health etc.

Can people with a BMI of less than 25 get on with life as normal?

78% of people hospitalised with COVID were either overweight or obese.

Instead of trying to restrict everyone's movements, maybe NPHET should address the public health issue of obesity and focus on promoting good diet and exercise. It would also help to reduce cancer, cardiac issues, and a whole host of other illnesses which kill far more people than COVID.

NPHET/Government have forced gyms to close while declaring takeaways and off licences as essential. Mind boggling when you think about it.

Most healthy people who get COVID won't even know they have it.

    This. Times 1000!!!

I’ve gone from an active, healthy 42 year old to having no sporting outlet. No gym, no Wednesday and sunday soccer. Drinking at home, 2 stone gained. Can’t travel outside 5km for last 6 months.., no trips to beach, hikes, paddle boarding.

A year on.., and the most draconian of measures still in place.

I can only imagine the damage it’s doing to families, students and children...

It’s nowhere near as deadly as our PISS POOR health system would have you believe!!!

Easier said than done. The 2 games of soccer were HUGELY beneficial to my physical AND mental health. But yes... need to stop the rot.

Can only imagine how parents with few/many kids are coping. Or those out of work. Perpetual Lockdown is insane...

I think you can always find the way to exercise. It's not easy on parents for sure. If people would cop on, we wouldn't have as you say perpetual lockdown IMO.

Edit: sadly we are all paying the price for peeps who just can't follow simple guidelines.

It's far more enjoyable to go for a kickaround with a few lads than to go for a run on your own.

It’s far more enjoyable to be able to go 5km from your house than stay within that radius but people make do.

Some exercise > no exercise. Best of luck with it.

Most people I know go outside their 5km almost every single day.

They'd be accused of fat shaming before they can even finish their sentence. It goes against the Body Positive "Healthy at any size" from the woke brigade. Saying a 500 lb land whale isn't healthy [and beautiful] is tantamount to heresy.

Walking, driving, running, biking, hopscotching, you name it.

Why not just keep those who refuse to get vaccinated in lockdown by required vaccination documentation to enter crowded public spaces? Then the responsible people are safer.

Yeah because the accusation of Police State dictatorship, etc and such aren't already being thrown around. "We'll get of the Police State accusations by acting like a Police State. What could possibly go wrong?"

Kids losing out hugely. Think about a year more or less without sport/ hobbies, that’s a year they will never get back. Was wondering if they’ll ever catch up we’ll only know this in the future of course.

A child psychologist recently that say for a child of five they’ve lived one fifth of their life in lockdown. One has to wonder about the long term effects of this on a child.

On a positive note more kids going back to school tomorrow which is good.

Yeah I'd say driving is the main thing, hardly to put it down as exercise :D

This is why there hasn't been a concerted effort anywhere in the West to encourage proper nutrition and exercise through out all of this. They're afraid of being accused of fat shaming.
