Funny never seen anyone referring to BLM protests as right wing. Could you get any more left wing than a BLM protest!!!

    Think you misread that one.

Anyone know Where’s fergal bowers lately
He's probably writing his very readable RTE Saturday column.

Everybody has a back of a Fag Box theory and its usually that thing that they are idioligically opposed to.

Also "Dublin" (in 24 counties) or "Northern Ireland" (in Donegal).

I would have thought high numbers mean lots of hospital admissions and deaths in the coming weeks, that's why people are obsessing over case numbers

I don't see it that way. The most vulnerable are mostly vaccinated now, and that should help keep a lid on hospital numbers and deaths

We may be moving towards a phase of "living with" Covid 19 until the major part of the population is vaccinated

That's not true. Only the over 85s are vaccinated. Well 99 percent of them.

I suppose it demonstrates how things have changed. My son was informed he was a close contact on Tuesday morning. Tested Tuesday evening, negative test result Wednesday.
Oh and Covid is not the death sentence some would have you believe or that a lung transplant is guaranteed.

    Mod

Literally 4.5K people dead in Ireland. Dont post in this thread again.

Of course they have, they continue to hog all the AstraZeneca vaccines.

We know that is the way forward but what exactly more can be done about it?

The very old being vaccinated will help deaths to be sure, hospitalisation less so. Many old people died in care homes without being brought to hospital and without receiving long treatment if they did go to hospital. Somewhat younger people are less likely to die, but the treatment to save them can involve a long stay in hospital. Half the people in ICU are under 65.

Those in nursing homes are. Nearly 400,000 have had their first dose, which offers some protection including 108,000 from cohort 3 (those over 70)

    2.3% fully vaccinated in Ireland.

2.1% fully vaccinated in the UK.

    Mad.

Bit of a twisted stat. UK trying to roll out as many first doses as possible, before they start second dosing, because first dose confers a fair bit of protection.

23 million have received at least one dose and about 1.4 million have had a second.

    We are nowhere near UK.

It will affect the death figures alright . Won't really see a huge drop in hospital and ICU figures until all over 60s are vaccinated . God knows when that will be

Didn’t they establish that 1st dose of each of AZ and Pfizer gave something like 90% protection against serious illness. Higher maybe. I think the 2nd dose doesn’t improve that number...rather extends the protection period

Tell that to the over 4,500 who have died, disgraceful comment. Have a look in the mirror ffs

More like crimes against camerawork rather than covid!

What is the current number allowed for weddings?

My big fat Galway Wedding. Wonder where they all got their hair done?

So tacky it's funny, but again, a law unto themselves.

I'm not defending them but there doesn't seem to have too many in the church.

As evidence grows that at least Pfizer prevents up to 95% asymptomatic Covid, Is it not time for a rethink im how we administer jabs? Once vunerable are vaccinated, start on 18-34 age groups and work your way up.

Complaining about this is pointless. The wedding went ahead because it was allowed to go ahead. The restrictions are generally not enforced. Most people would behave like this if allowed. I’m sure if any pub in Ireland was given a free night to open it would be wedged.

Well I'll be more than happy when they are:pac:

55-64 are way down the list though. It's those 65 and over that are near the top of the list

I’m sure he’s thinking about the collection plate, it’s been a lean year for the church as well

The actions at this wedding, the funeral in Carrick amongst other major breaches in restrictions will directly impact the decisions on when the restrictions are loosened for the rest of society

Would you say that if it were your mother, father , brother, sister etc. A death is a death, have a bit of cop on and don't be thinking of just yourself
