We had a very heavy hail shower a while ago. It's been a while since i saw one as good as this, just a pity it had to turn to rain after about 20 minutes.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a dusting of snow for some overnight. Higher ground but at lower levels too.

Horrible evening the weather is nearly worse than covid at this stage. I do a lot of distance running this week I’ve been soaked Monday night Tuesday night Wednesday night and last night cut in half with an icy wind. Tonight is honestly out of the question it’s just to wet and cold out there.

Big massive fat flakes above 300 metres. Was starting to stick above 350 metres.

It will be interesting to see how much is lying on high ground tomorrow morning if we get a lot of showers.

Correct, some real heavy showers today in north Donegal.

Windscreen wipers were struggling to shift it.

    Pretty wild up here now.

Strong gusts starting, with hail and lightning, a nearby strike just scared the sheep more senseless..

Its all very intermittent up here. We have clear skies and no wind or rain at the moment. Every time the squalls come through it gets wild.

Well that wasn’t a fun experience! I didn’t expect much snow if at all, truth be told I expected nothing.

Drove up to 350m, out of nowhere at around 900 feet the road turned white. Got up to the top and skid, road was undriveable, so had to reverse down the hill. Looks to be about 2cm up there.

Quite a nervy experience as my tracks had been filled in fairly rapidly and my car was skidding at times. The road itself is windy and very steep, so I was concerned that I would end up rolling down uncontrollably and slam into the bridge at the bottom!

Heavy snow showers in Cork City. Can't say I was expecting that! Huge, wet flakes that aren't really sticking.

Snowing at sea level right on the coast in Cork on the far south of the island
No need to climb to 900 ft there..much colder

900 feet was the freezing level.. and cold flow will be quickly cut off down there.

But hey never miss an attempt to give me a wee dig.

Just back in from a run this morning. I’m just hoping there’s no downgrade for next week because it’s miserable out again. Any chance spring could come?

The wind dropping for a few days will make a considerable difference -out here at least.

    Wet mayo offshore... accidental typo!

We have had some brightness here at intervals and the cloudscapes are a glory .

It’s warm enough inland Wednesday to Friday. And on the west I think. If it were dry and sunny it would be nice weather indeed. Cloudy, not so much.

The rain in SW Kerry last night was absolutely insane. Genuinely thought the windows were going to break at one stage.

Today was all 4 seasons in a day. Loads of sun, loads of rain and loads of hail. Crazy stuff.

Rotten evening in meath since about 4 o'clock, persistent rain and feels bitter in the breeze

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,634 ✭✭✭✭Graces7

The wind has eased at last out here. The silence is sheer bliss. All we need now is the temperature to rise...

I was about to go for a walk but it has started raining heavily. Ah well! Still an easing of wind even now.

Can somebody reassure me that there’s some good weather coming? Another day of grey clouds annoying breeze single digit temps and spots of rain. I swear the weather is worse than covid at the moment.
