Loved it, one of the best games I have played. I have put it aside and await a couple patches and the xbox series x becoming available and then I'll dive back in and play it again for hopefully an even better experience.

I work in enterprise app development, and a few years ago we had a small number of machines infected with a virus, and we were down for little over a week cleaning things up and making sure things were secure. Thankfully, the only damage was lost time, no data or anything was lost or stolen. The type of attack we had was relatively minor compared to what is being described by CDPR.

I can well believe that they lost 2 or 3 week at least to this initially, and there seems to be ongoing issues, with stolen source code and not to mention employee data.

Now, they could be using the attack as an excuse, and they could have been well behind already. If we don't see a patch in March, then I reckon you are right in your estimation.

Fair enough and thanks for that insight however, I still think this patch was going to be delayed even without the hacks. If this patch is basically supposed to be the one that fixes the majority of issues I can't see how it was ever going to be ready for February considering the plethora of issues players have said they've encountered.

Just a quick addition to the above... oooof.

Ya it makes a lot of sense after reading that. Initially thought it was bs but forgot the work from home element.

This can also be how they got hit: working from home employee drops the company VPN to, let's say, entertain themselves on dodgy sites.

Has anyone run into a bug in the mission
    Chippin in

I have the first part completed and now waiting on a call and it has not come, only thing I have not done is skip time but I'm not sure it will work.

Its the last mission I have before going to the point of no return.

I remember the mission but I don't remember any issue with it.
But I had other missions that were stuck, or progressed only after the next mission was triggered, one of the fixers went like that, I was only getting the mission complete phone call and reward when I was approaching another one that belonged to the same fixer.

Finished this at the weekend. I rather enjoyed it overall. The overarching main mission line is pretty good (not amazing, not terrible) but does have a bit of satisfaction to it. The side missions really are where the colour is in this game though, thoroughly enjoyed the variety they provided. Think I put about 60 hours into it in total and none of that felt particularly empty or wasted.

    Got the ending where
Johnny and Alt break into Arasaka tower, which I thought provided great closure to their story. At the end I chose to let Johnny join Alt while V continues on solo (for a while at least). The last scene where you're shooting through space to the space casino certainly leaves plenty of options for expanding on the story.

Overall, probably a 7.5/10. Would be a 8.5 without the bugs that become prolific the further you get into the game.

Play the other endings and make sure you are super buddies with desert girl and vr porn girl.

I got a lend of this to play on my OG PS4. I was prepared for it to be janky and whatnot, but it crashed during the install, and now, having installed, it can't get as far as the title screen. Keeps crashing giving the CE-34878-0 error. So, should I abandon any hope of playing it? Or is there some tinkering with settings that can be done? Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,581 ✭✭✭Cordell

It is bad, but not THAT bad :)
So if it crashed during install and it cannot even start it may be something wrong with the installation or even with your PS4.

Nothing wrong with my PS4, apart from it being old. It installed and asked for the play disc, but then wouldn't load. I'm install it again though so we'll try that.

You should have prepared yourself for it not to work - it doesn't work which is why everyone was refunded.

Yes my very low expectations were even too high, it seems...

From what I heard so far it's really bad on base PS4 and XBO, but it runs. It's runs slow, with crashes and streaming issues, but you should be able to play it, even though it's going to be a painful experience.

Finding this to be fairly uninspired so far, about eight hours in. Loads of exposition and talking, bewildering menu system, bullet sponge enemies, stealth bits pinched from Watch Dogs 2 but not at all intuitive. Also started playing on Hard but was getting killed a lot so changed to Normal and now it feels a little too easy. The world is cool but the gameplay seems a bit Poundsaver Far Cry.

Got my PS5 today so gonna pop Cyberpunk back in and finish the game without the blurriness and the low resolution. A bit nervous as most of the egregious bugs I've seen are on next gen consoles and PC and I had very little issues on the base PS4 aside from the terrible graphics.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,581 ✭✭✭Cordell

You had very little issues on PS4 because you stopped playing :)

Yes, I stopped playing after 46 hours according to my PS5 which is more than enough time to encounter any of the game breaking glitches and performance issues others have. :)

Cyberpunk got nominated for 4 BAFTA Game awards:
    Artistic Achievement
    Narrative
Performer in a leading role (CHERAMI LEIGH, Female V)
Performer in a supporting role (CARLA TASSARA, Judy)

It's probably unlikely to win any of them, but still interesting, nonetheless.
I do agree that female V was the best lead performance, but male V and Keanu Reeves must be disappointed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,581 ✭✭✭Cordell

There was nothing special about male V and Keanu just read his lines, but Judy was a very memorable character.

I liked the Keanu Reeves performance. He played it like a cringey edgelord which i thought really worked given the context of the character and the world.

My thoughts exactly. The characters talk and behave by what they think is cool in their world. Not ours.

I played about 8 hours, right up to the end of the prologue, and female V and Keanu were pretty good IMO.

Waiting for the proper PS5 version to crack on with the rest of the game.

But he wasn't a mere cringey edgelord, he was a narcissistic psycho that nuked a building just because he thought it was the right thing to do.

There are definitely better actors out there who could have given a superior performance for Johnny but by the nature of the character they wouldn't be half as likeable. Keanu Reeves is an extremely likeable guy which is perfect for an aging rockstar parasite that's killing his host (you) because on paper he is a despicable person, easy to resent. In my game Johnny and V are friends which I would have never thought possible if you had given me a description of Johnny prior to playing it.

Regarding the Baftas, I think those nominations are fair. Cyberpunk 2077 is not complete trash. That's why what happened to it is so sad. There's a lot that's so good that you cannot help but wonder what a masterpiece it would have been had it been finished. I do hope the upper management at CDPR have learned from this and will treat their staff better. Crunch isn't worth it even when the final product is good. You just can't treat human beings that way.

Man, I really wish I had got the PS5 earlier. Playing this now after 46 hours of blurriness and low res on the PS4 is like a breath of fresh air. I think I subconsciously underestimated just how much the graphics were affecting my ability to engage with the world because now I'm doing all the blue mini activities that I avoided before simply because I could barely make out the world and so only wanted to stick to "essential" side quests. It actually looks like a PS4 game now.

These little activities are like the question marks in The Witcher 3 but more fun because the combat is enjoyable. I love rolling in with my favourite sniper rifle (thanks, Panam) and just one-shotting everyone. I also modded the rifle with the pax mod to make it non lethal so I can still do my honourable merc roleplay without compromising my playstyle. However, the enemy animations are so ragdollish that I have to put my crosshair over the body and hope it shows red to indicate the NPC is still alive.

I only had one crash in this roughly 7 hour session (maybe longer) and one bug where the braindance prompt stayed on the screen but other than that no problems as usual. I guess I'm just blessed when it comes to Cyberpunk because this is nowhere near as buggy as say something like AC Valhalla. This isn't even in the top 10 buggiest games I've ever played.

The load times for the PS4 were already quite quick but on the PS5 it's even quicker and no longer stalls when switching between menus. No more stick drift (although this may have been addressed in a patch) and no late load ins of models.

With all that said, now that I can actually see the game it's drawn attention to flaws I never card about before: Night City is gorgeous but the world feels very empty and fake. Barely any NPCs on the street. No birds or animals in the badlands. No interactable places like bowling allies or restaurants. Really unrealistic physics.

The biggest issue though remains the economy. There's no point selling anything as the payout is so little that you'll be there forever trying to reach your target goal. Yet all the contacts are constantly trying to sell V cars that I cannot afford. I managed to scrape enough eddies from side quests to get the double jump cyberware mod which is awesome and I wish I had it earlier. A shame really because the ill balanced economy greatly limits experimentation.

Can't wait for the next gen patch. I've been watching some PC vs PS5 comparison videos and the graphics on PC are perhaps the best I've seen in an open world game with maybe only RDR2 rivalling it.

With all the rumours about large amounts of the game being chopped, I wonder if the economy was predicated on a much longer game. I'm a scrooge so I did bother selling all I could. Something I regard as a flaw/bug is that one of the abilities you can choose early on is to automatically convert junk into resources. I chose that early on before encountering junk items that were worth a considerable $750 They should have had a an on/off toggle for that.

Still, by the end of the game I could afford any car or thing I wanted, but once you get that calebsomething there isn't much point. They should knock at least a zero off the vehicle prices, because by the time you can afford them, you no longer need them due to the reward ones.

The other flaw is not having a bumper vision option when driving an enclosed vehicle. That is because in the car you are teeny weenie little midget who can barely see over the steering wheel, so you are completely blind to the road configuration ahead if you are approaching a decline in the road or are cresting a rise. Driving a vehicle from above and behind, third person, has always sucked in every game that has it.

These faults ensure that anyone who wants to get around quickly probably chooses a bike as their main form of transport.

It would be amazing if they continue working on the game so it becomes what was originally intended. The map is so amazing it feels only two thirds used, which I think reflects the original intent of a longer game with greater scope. A third should be free due to the launch problems and bugs, but I'd pay for an expansion beyond that.

You really are left wondering about the cuts and what got left on the long finger.

They seem intent on going with a minimum number of staff at CDPR. That leak of all their files won't help when it comes to other studios headhunting. Keeping it small, a revisist to the gangs. Flesh them out more. I don't think that 'Americas army' gang was fleshed out in the lore and it shows in the game. They in particular need a regig and a revisit, from the clothing up. Any type of of story format that brings a deeper look at the gangs.

I adore the gang minding the base' aspect, it's a contstant empty key when you know for definate that there will ony be a sparse few of the same again. 15 more quality attack/infiltrate the base missions.

Another 2 big long missions, similar to the Nakimura snipers mission with boss battles and all the rest.

Heafty transport. I don't care if it's to the moon, too some smaller city via flying/sea cargo cantainers. Something to take a long trip on and a ton of missions to go with it. Will they do it? I don't know.

The ability to sit down. It's so remis to not have that abilty in the game. CDPR are missing out on about 100,000 tweets of people just saying they are sitting somewhere taking in the view. There are people right now on deviant art just playing with the camera editor and mods placeing their own characters sitting around in the prescipted spots. That's how bad this is. That's first patch material before any add-on

I think you might be spot on regarding the economy being built for a longer game.

It's not just the cash that the game is stingy with either. It's the crafting system where you have to craft this thing to craft that thing to craft the other thing to finally craft the thing you want which just so happens to require all of these things that you've just used to craft things so you'll need to craft more of those things to craft the thing you want and it goes on and on and on... Often it's not worth it because the amount of resources required to craft even with perks to reduce resource cost is too much when they could be used for ammo and health, and it's far less costly to just buy resources. It needs a lot of work.

Anyway, I'm really digging the main story. I've reached the third act. The campaign is a healthy length but gets buried under all the open world fluff. Again, that's likely because so much of it was cut.

Sadly, I don't think Cyberpunk will ever be what was originally intended. It would almost be an entirely different game and first buyers who stuck with the game rather than refunding would feel truly cheated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,044 ✭✭✭Carfacemandog

I liked the game on the whole, but the shoddiness of the crafting system was one of the most jarring for me, especially after TW3 where I immensely enjoyed grinding away for certain swords, armor, potions, decoctions, etc. In this it just felt incredibly boring, limited, un-immersive, and frankly just not worth the effort. I checked back in on it a few times while playing, but never went beyond the initial 2-3 items I crafted early on if I recall.

Space Oddity glitch has helped remedy the money problem and the game is even more enjoyable now. :D I'm not surprised it has not been patched out yet. From a PR standpoint it's not a good look to patch a positive that directly combats the negative all the while having many of the glitches unpatched.

Speaking of which, seems my good fortune has run out ever since the mission where you have to take out the three snipers. I'm getting silly things like open world activities not showing as complete even though I've completed them, crashes when driving into more visually busy areas, HUD remaining on the screen etc. Nothing that can't be fixed with a simple reload but annoying all the same.

Quite surprised I've reached the point of no return already so I'm doing everything I can before initiating it. The story is a healthy length but is unequal in heft to the side stuff. I can't remember playing a title where the main campaign was swallowed whole by open world fluff and side missions. Even The Witcher 3 and Skyrim which are known for brilliant side quests still had a campaign that held its own against them.
