I've heard of lots of young Irish expats in USA coming home to Ireland for a Paddy's Day piss up.

Very unfair on all us abiding by the rules

    Eh?
Why would anyone book a trip back to our closed and shuttered island for a pissup?
    Doesn't make sense to me.

Filling a big gap in the south too once the 5km limit goes. All the 'close the airports'ers will be dreadfully confused.

    AGAIN, how so?

    Rubbish

I wouldn't have thought that was any of our business

Hmmm, my bad. I thought the person was asking for people's input

Will they be drinking cans in someone’s house with the blinds closed?

Why would the bother leaving the USA. Society is opening back up, restaurants open, sports and recreation open, shops open, travel is enabled and the vaccine roll out is continuing at pace.

Especially for those who love reposting the article on the guy who travelled last year :pac:. I'm very surprised this has made it into the news when it's not travel related.

These kind of claims are just silly. It's a student now because it's their turn on the naughty step. Every case can lead to a neverending number of other cases, but after the first set of contacts are infected, it's not the first case's responsibility at all.

“Do you think it spread in those households by carrier pigeon?” :D :pac:

Could still be travel related. I bet this evil person booked a holiday in Spain and then went visiting people to tell them all about it. As well as a fine at the airport we will now be fined for booking flights or talking about travel before 2025 :P

If one of the students infected is studying Travel & Tourism I think it gets counted as travel related too

Eh. good luck closing airports in a foreign jurisdiction on this isle, when said foreign jurisdiction can't even stick to terms of existing international agreements.

But keep on shouting for Dublin airport to close even though it's totally pointless with Belfast open

    That's not confusing?

what nonsens is this? Please, explain how this is relevant to my question regarding a 5km limit on exercise.

On the subject of the passport office, I applied online for a straight forward renewal of an adult passport (no extra documentation needed) on Tuesday and got it today (Friday).

When I get to use it is another matter.

once the 5km limit goes anyone call travel to Belfast airport

Once the 5 goes it’ll be a restriction to stay in your county I would imagine.

    Forever?

A gradual and slow progression down the levels is the best the government will give us.

And as I’ve constantly stated here the €500 fine for travelling to the airport is NOT linked to Level 5. That can still stand at any level.

We're talking about Belfast airport, and Ryanair's new routes from there, not Dublin. It's very hard to imagine that there will still be a fine for travelling outside your county during summer.

Why travel to Belfast airport in the summer though if you can fly from Dublin? Just get yourself an essential reason to travel (it’s not difficult) and off you go from Dublin Airport.

The only advantage of flying from Belfast is you don’t need the essential reason for travel.

Will they be running there? You know the 5km limit is for exercise only and has absolutely zero to do with travelling to an airport?

So again in this thread: The 5km exercise limit could be removed today and it would have no effect on the restrictions on non essential travel which fyi, applies if you are travelling to Belfast, Dublin or Cork.

5KM ONLY APPLIES TO EXERCISE. I live within 5km of Dublin airport but I still cant go there for non essential reasons

Crossing the border can be fined as an non essential journey. Amount €100. Fine for going to dublin airport €2000 with onward travel.

The 5k rule does not apply to exercise only. I can travel up to 5km from my home and be a lazy bastard. Once it's gone you can travel wherever you want except Dublin airport to travel abroad for non-essential reasons. Once it's gone I can cross the border. What I do on the other side of the border is controlled by UK law.

    Clear?

Indeed it does refer to exercise only.
Perhaps you need to read the legislation

I'm going to read a newspaper on a bench tomorrow and see if I break the law
