Found this interesting - NY Times shows a breakdown of restrictions by State across the USA. A quick look suggests that we are suffering over here to a far greater extent, even though numbers in the USA are seemingly dropping quickly too. Rather than our 5km, nobody is restricted in crossing state to state. But I guess their figures are still worse.

Yes, I was talking with some people I know if San Francisco and Seattle, and life there is mostly back to normal. There are restrictions of course, but they're far more open than here. The same is true for most of Europe too.
Hopefully it will be the same here soon as well!

Ya, like I'm pro easing restrictions ATM but I wouldn't be saying reopen hospitality and even when they do it should be outdoor only for a while.

To me it's all black and white thinking ATM, theres feck all nuance to our strategy. Government saying we'll work off data instead of dates and immediately set a date we won't do anything til.

Theres a lot more that can be done to ease restrictions and keep the spread under control than they're doing ATM. Half the people are ignoring them anyway so might as well actually make it official.

I have a really strong urge to withdraw some cash.

Think it's season 1 before they got the animation style we associate The Simpsons with. Season 1 Homer looks odd in comparison.
Yeah, the episode where they're all at Dr Marvin's, isn't it? iirc, he's drawing fighter planes..

Americans do not care about covid. This has been obvious since day 1.

They had thousands at the Superbowl a couple of weeks ago.

They should not be used as any comparison and their officials should not be used by Irish media to give advice.

    Bloody foolish students in UL

Videos doing the rounds of 100 students having a party in college court

    Setting off fireworks as well

Why are they even there if most of them can't attend lectures? Because landlords refused to return a lot of deposits for student accommodation so the students obviously said might as well stay there.

Scandalous that landlords got away with that.

Blame the students for sure but have a look at the bigger picture. They should be at home with their deposits.

Fair point but having chosen to stay in private accommodation it's up to the students to follow the restrictions

Nobody forced them to have a street party on a Tuesday

They knew what they were up to

Lots of barbers operating house visits. Ask around. If you think they should be open now, then you would probably not mind them dropping around.

Just message a few barbers instagram pages. You'll have your pick of which barber you want to visit your home.
We got a turkish lad out on Saturday to give us a fresh cut.

It's really pathetic of RTE to devote a section on people breaking rules at funerals.

    On Prime Time tonight.

Watching Prime Time and hearing about the hosing crisis and the lockdown leading to the loss of the delivery of 800 houses per week.

In the middle of the debate they bring on a zero Covid merchant about reopening construction.

    Head melting stuff.

Students having a house party makes headline news now, what a pathetic country we have turned into. You lock away young people for months and months then what do you expect.

We watched a bit of the golden globes last night.. my wife was asking why they were all standing so close together and hugging etc...

Because most other countries aren't obsessed with it like here. Even our soaps on TV are ridiculous... Constant hand sanatising and masks.

There might be a small call out charge depending on the barber and how far you are away!

Well as cases get lower and lower, any clusters and outbreaks will become more noticable. So we'll be hearing more about them over the coming weeks.

Simon Harris's tweet about it is particularly over the top.

    The party looked like fun.

I have seen the videos, normal stuff really. There will be pressure from the college now to take action and ruin some young people's life's to appease the nanny state we have become. It's utterly pathetic.

What's 'pathetic' is that some people here still don't f*cking get it.

Exactly we should have locked everyone from 15 to 35 up 10 months ago and it would be all over by now. But no we keep pandering to them and wonder why we are living in a never ending lockdown.

There has been very little acknowledgement that people in their twenties have suffered the most during this pandemic, while being at almost no risk from covid. It's totally unsustainable and it's no surprise that they are running out of patience.

Yeah not if it's prolonging the misery for the rest of us then I have no sympathy.

    We're getting closer each day.

Everyone is expected to stop living. It's pathetic.
What do you propose they do about it?
