They were concerned last year when we had 10 cases and no hospitalisations so I think we are fairly fecked to be honest.

Yes that's true and the government won't be challenging NPHET anytime soon

    Yeah, what were they thinking?

Remind me again who was right?

As I've pointed out before, Ronan Glynn was laughed out of the room by many on here, and everything he said about dropping the guard turned out to be absolutely spot on.

Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has said there are currently around 1,000 to 3,500 international arrivals into the country each day, while 10,500 people arrived at Dublin Airport last week.

Is there any chance of more vaccines being approved and in use for the 2Q? The list i see has the 3 currently being used and J&J.

How was he right? Cases were very low at the time. The fact that there's cause for caution now doesn't make him right last summer.

If they had eased up on things more back then, it might have been easier to keep people on board now.

So the solution to ****ing everything was wet pubs all along.

    I'll be damned.

What did you want - 12 months at level 5/6/7? Who the feck will pay for that?

And don’t start that zero Covid ****e and blaming everyone for a meaningful Christmas. No vision meant they lost the dressing room.

It comes after Leo Varadkar insisted Ireland's lockdown exit will be dictated by data, not dates – refusing to reveal if the Government is targeting specific numbers before starting a reopening.

SO GIVE US THE F-G NUMBERS FROM THE DATA!?!

    He did not say that.

The zero Covid crowd are sitting there undermining vaccines to support their end goal - do you support that?

Are you in a financial position to live in an Ireland without multi national business?

In a normal week there are 250,000 arrivals. The vast majority of those 10.5k are Irish citizens. They now all need a negative PCR. So what’s the issue?

You really have passive aggressive down to a tee. Anytime you are in a corner you take the same approach and come up with the same response. Typical at this stage.

    Hospital numbers at 8pm today

Total 597 (down from 642 last night)
ICU 135 (down from 149 last night)

Lowest total number since 1 Jan.

    Great progress in those figures

He stated this as if it is good news.
One year ago, would anyone think this was good news.
    Or, is it bad news.
10,500 selfish people. They should all be locked up.
    I don't know anymore, it's very confusing.

Starting to get back to the lower level of covid. At last.

He stressed the warnings of how fast the disease can spread if we let our guard down.

People paid attention at first, and were careful, then week-by-week they took another inch. I'm not blaming them for this, its complete human nature (bar a select few who took the piss completely).

This happened twice. Once before October and then over Christmas. So what he was constantly stressing back then was proven to be right, twice.

Glynn's foresight is completely underestimated here.

First, I don't think you know what passive aggression is.
Second, you're just plain old aggressive.

when might one be able to go there and get one privately?

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

Are you a member of the government by any chance? Recently over 2000 came in from Brazil. They were text to come forward for a test. Less than one third did and around 10% of those tested positive. Another 3,500+ came from countries on the mandatory quarantine list.

A similar story was in circulation in early January. Its almost March now and it is the same ****e. Still no sign of them getting it set up or banning entry to those people until it is.

And you ask what's the issue? My word. It doesn't matter what happens you'll always defend this joke of a government.

not sure how to isolate the video below chart and post..if someone else can? From the dail.

Two questions why is a 75 year old woman being evicted if they are tied to 5km guidline/level 5? And whow did yer man get the ashes on the forehead if churches are meant to be closed?

I'm happy enough to concede he was right to give the warning. The issue is the accompanying restrictions. I think it caused some people to tune out. I know that sounds counterintuitive to the likes of you or me who keep at least somewhat up to speed on these threads. But think of the average person who isn't. "Sure they're saying we need to be careful and putting these restrictions on us and numbers have been low for weeks. They don't know what they're at".

As I'm typing this out though it's occurred to me that Glynn seemed happy enough to ease up on restrictions when numbers stayed low while he was running the show, so maybe I'm doing the man a disservice.

I agree with your last bit. Glynn is a decent skin. And I think Nolan and deGascun are also. Tony has a big ego but his heart is in the right place. I think the structures have not really worked and communication has been dreadful - down to Government and broad strategy.

Some of the other commentators such as McConkey, Ryan, Staines and the sensationalist RTÉ are a different matter altogether.

You could collect ashes from Church iirc

    “To those people”........

Who are coming from countries on the mandatory quarantine list. Sad attempt at deflection there. Less than one third came forward for a free test so we'll all be locked up at home far longer thanks to a totally inept government.

Churches were putting ashes in Envelops and letting people pick them up, some were put in Envelops in letter boxes. For someone to ask that question in the Dail is some joke and shows just how poor the level of politics has got to in this country - petty little things.

ICU down from 149 to 135 in the last 24 hours but 10 deaths in that period.

Hospitalisations have broken the optimistic 600 mark with 597, 4 days before the end of the month.

Was 600 in hospital the optimistic projection by the end of the month?
