It's why I don't mind Daniel James as a footballer. He's not technically gifted but he'll give it his all and won't drop his head. He'll be first in the firing line for people giving out why he's starting, playing poorly, etc.

At least he gives it his all, keeps working and got rewarded with the goal.

Stark contrast to Martial who has all the talent but none of the drive nor determination.

Talent will only get you so far, putting in the graft separate the best.

    I don't get this

I'd run through walls to play for united.

As would thousands of professional footballers none of them good enough to play for the club.

Lets face it, he'd make a decent player in the championship

he's MILES away from the level we should be looking to

and while he runs and gives it all is great, he shouldnt be anywhere near united.

I'm saying it because it happened.

Newcastle played us off the park for the majority of this game at Old Trafford.

I hope we hold on for the 3 points, but it doesn't mean I'm going to be thinking to myself that we played brilliantly, because we didn't.
We've very different definitions of "played off the park" so and you continued to say it as United started to dominate it too.

I'm not saying we played brilliantly either but there's quite a jump from there to your claims.

Looked like he just caught the tip of rashfords boot tbf, generally when defenders don't remonstrate with the ref you know it's a peno, same as TAA yesterday, he knew he had cocked up.

    Bruno is the real deal.

Not too long ago we were watching Pogba's slow run up to every penalty and the inevitable disappointment that went with it.

Newcastle shat the bed big time after being so dominant. They're down the bottom part of the table for a reason.

    Glazers Out!

We should be scoring again. But up until now we've been played off the park by a Newcastle side who sit in 17th position in the table.

We also got our asses handed to us by Sheffield United a few weeks ago at home.

You'll forgive me if I don't cream my pants at the sight of Daniel James scoring against the run of play at home against opposition of this quality.

I don't want you to cream your pants. No thanks!

I'm shocked anyone would say theyll be shocked if Newcastle don't come back and beat us at 2-1. Sounded like a big overreaction.

Yep. It's a shame players need to do it to force the situation.

Its a very undeserved victory. Weve played very poorly. The first 10 mins of the half were rocky.

You and I both but he has talent. He's a young, fast international footballer who knows his role and didn't cost an arm and a leg.

He's not a starter and admittedly he won't break into the first 11 unless he really turns it around.

But, James is a squad player who allows other to get rested like Thursday evening, can chip in with a goal or too and gets more stick than deserved IMO. A squad needs squad players and he is that.

I think surrendering the initiative in a home tie against a side down the bottom of the table is deplorable. We were lucky not to have conceded a few times after half time.

Don't get me wrong, we should be on course for 3 points here and I'm delighted with that, but there's a seriously soft underbelly to this United side and it's extremely worrying.

We've surrendered a serious amount of points to sides we should be beating in the last few weeks, second on goal difference again tonight should we win. We should be closer to city or have our standards slipped for much in the last 8 years that we're happy to be where we are?

    Glazers Out!

Not really in light of throwing points away against Sheffield United and Everton in the recent past.

How bad is harry in front of goal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,306 ✭✭✭✭Drumpot

This keeps us 9 points ahead of pool. If we can get anything more then 4 points from our next 3 games we will be doing well. This and the last 5 league games don’t inspire confidence.

With the match played on Thursday and the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea dropping points I fully expected a draw or a loss. So I’m delighted to see us on course for a win.
They’re far from brilliant tonight but a win is a win.
    (Que the comeback)

Let me not hear Ole on about fatigue for the rest of the season. Plenty of opportunity to use the bench but refuses to do so. Madness

A Welsh international...It doesn't mean anything when talking about united.

How many Irish internationals would make the united squad? :D

Nothing you said is wrong. But he still shouldn't be near united.
