    Indy can easily fix same OEM parts, sometimes for almost half the price - mainly due to lower labour rates, less fixed costs and less margin expectation on parts (BMW dealer needs to pay for that big showroom and "complimentary" espresso coffee).

    These cars can be expensive to run OP, you need to be ready for that. My 2014 needed over €4000 worth of warranty work, this was main dealer, low mileage car. When the car is out of warranty things can get costly.

    About the pull the trigger and pick up a new model 420d 202. I've done a lot of research about ongoing costs etc so I'm going in with my eyes open. I'll be keeping it for 8 years. Will I be able to get manufacturer warranty extended to year 8? Does it get more expensive year on year even with bmw service and average mileage? I have the 5 year service pack so again would hope to extend this to year 8.

    Does bmw first discount include tyres? In that case it would be well worth having it just before bringing it in for new tyres? And it can be cancelled anytime? Although I'd prob keep it then.

    I see the discount is now 10% but for 1k for tyres it would still be a saving

    I see tires are excluded under their t&c's. Never mind, still worth having maybe for just before bringing in for a service and getting the wiper blades done. No doubt wiper blades on this yoke will be €100 a pop!

    Service pack cannot be extended past the original 5 year/100,000 km taken out when the car is brand new. Extended warranty needs to be purchased every time before the existing warranty expires otherwise it gets very expensive if there is a gap in cover. Extended warranty naturally gets more expensive as the car gets older and miles creep up as there is more risk that something will fail.

    Tyres are not included in bmw-first and you would want to be mad to be buying them from BMW anyway, even with the bmw-first discount included it would still be cheaper to buy them either online or from a local tyre centre.
