So many here love to stick the knife in to the lads, team and country when we lose a rugby match...

A single score was all. Against France...60 million people. Far more into their rugby than we ever were..

    *** not trolling ***

But as an Irishman I’m delighted they lost.
The team is as Irish as an ‘Irish bar’ in Bangkok.

Rugby is and always has been an elitist sport.
.. and don’t start me on the national anthem mega mix !!

    mod -banned.

Ahhh so now we are going to use population as an excuse to accept mediocrity...

    It’s not 60 million v 7 Million

    It’s 23 v 23.

French were very poor today, we could have sneaked it in the end . A bit more composure and it could have worked out for us .
I’d pick the following team for Italy match , who will be a lot better than France were today

    1. Healy/kilcoyne
    2. Kelleher
    3. Porter/furlong.
    4. Henderson
    5. Ryan
    6. Beirne
    7. VDF
    8. Stander
    9. Murray
    10. Sexton
    11. Earls
    12. Henshaw
    13. Ringrose
    14. Larmour/Conway
    15. Keenan.

You can’t hide the fact this game might have been won had different decisions been made behind lads sticking the knife in.

We would have been pinned in our own 22 for the whole of the second half if it wasn’t for the boot of Lowe. Has a cannon on him.

Have to agree with above. Poor performance from "fans"

As for stadium sound. Jaysus sounded like playing away in Turkey. He should be sacked.

Happy to be wrong about Byrne, both him and Burns were fine. I don't think either will reach the requisite standard though so.

Man of the match for Ireland is Paul o connell the line-out is a few leagues above where it's Been for years, as for the game it shows where we are comfortably 3rd in the northern hemisphere. There's room to improve but solid in contact need to find a way to drag our marquee player's into games more.

Well at least he can kick

Pity his tacking and defensive reads aren’t functioning

    Yes. That’s sport. That’s life

It’s the almost glee like comments and criticisms that are so prevalent against our rugby team...

Why go with guys like Sexton and Murray against Italy in a tournament we are out of. Ide be throwing out some new caps

Head is not in the sand

    We lost a match....

Some of the slagging and criticisms are way OTT, but not surprising..

I'm going to say we did better than I expected before the game.

I'm also going to say I'm frustrated at the apparent the lack of ideas in locker to bring our best players onto the ball and advance up the pitch.

I would also congratulate France for their ability to change up and down the gears at will and also for putting Robbie Henshaw in their pocket all day.

Williams more or less saying Farrell has not brought ireland forward

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,867 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

Lowe had as many bad kicks as good kicks.
His almost try was only an almost try.
    His missed tackles were criminal.

The only reason we lost by two wasn’t down to our ability, it was French mistakes that stopped them scoring more and allowed us a soft try.

The French mistakes flattered the score line but the were never in trouble.

I think a leading voice is something were missing too in the times where we were really under pressure, during the 3rd quarter of the game there were no Irish voices to be heard in an empty stadiums. Very telling nobody driving performances, nobody overly confident. But a team of world class players who can very much put it up too anyone.

We replaced Ryan and POM with Henderson and Ruddock. Little to no drop off in quality. Replaced Murray and Sexton with JGP and BB. Huge drop off in quality. Therein lies the issue.

We were beaten by a better team, well done France. We need more quality players to match the large playing population countries. More investment in youth, get all the academies to Leinster standard and have more a level matches.
