Even worse as they were there for the taking and we weren’t even that good.

O’Mahony is the man we can thank for being out of the championship, showed his superb leadership last week.

In fairness the French coach should be bulling.

How they didn't manage to kill off that game with 20 minutes to go is mind-boggling.

Gritty performance from Ireland but didn't look to have much composure or threat.

Surprised they didn't maul the lineout at the end.

But when they went wide, they just ran out of ideas after 4 phases. Good French defence though.

    Disappointing

We didn't deserve to win that game but we could have, surely when you've a 10m lineout you've a set move in the back pocket to either get a penalty or setup a drop goal, our maul was good all day, why not go for it at the end?

Aragh who wants to win a 6 nations with empty stadiums anyway. Great chance for rebuilding and trying new players.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

And it's a surprise to absolutely nobody that the best player in Ireland right now was the best Irish player on the pitch today.

Thought Gibson-Park had a very mixed game tbh. I really wouldn't be using it as any defence of his selection.

He did have a mixed game.

But the nonsense hyperbole on here is ridiculously disproportionate.

Well done France, well deserved victory.

The French are not as good as many like to think.

Disappointing stuff but we gave it a good go in fairness against a good French team.

Have we considered bringing in some Australians? These South African and New Zealanders aren't cutting it IMO

Lots of fabulous Argentinian backs also.

Leo Cullen should be the head coach.

Definitely needs to be a change of head coach. There is talent with these players but they won't realise it with Farrell.

2 points in it at the end.

Makes a mockery of the lads who said we'd be beaten by 10, 20 or 30 points last week.

That last few minutes summed up Ireland, totally 1 dimensional
The last few minutes was dictated by the clock. Had to keep the ball in hand and try and make yards and France knew that's what we had to do and just kept their defensive line intact. It needed a mistake by them and they didn't oblige.

Our provinces show great attacking rugby, but the same players at international level they look clueless

Defences are different Utah...there will always be a weak link at Pro 14 or European level. You don't really get that at test level. We desperately need a Ferris or O'Brien type player to punch holes...as well as a scrum half and out half.

I actually think that might have been an even more embarrassing end to the game than last week. Somehow, we at least managed to pull that off.

Work in progress for them. World Cup is their ultimate aim.

    As for us...

Quick, somebody tell me how that result is the fault of Sexton and Murray?

Yes POM is the reason we lost today and can't win the championship. Would you cop on to yourself

After all is said and done, Ireland weren't far off winning today.

Not many expected France to play as poorly.

Attacking play is so poor. No invention out of the centers, beyond Ringrose stepping and slipping. Everything is so lateral. No weak side runners at an angle, no effective grubbers or dinks. Best piece of of handling was Lowe and JGP along the sidelines.

Catt needs to be given the boot.

How about we play the actually talented Irish player we have who grew up in Ireland who are better than those non Irish players who started.

Can we have some actually moderation here please?

There have been outwardly xenophobic posts directed towards Irish internationals here.

It actually takes less time to report a post than to write a post backseat modding and whinging about moderation. Mods are fans too, we're also trying to watch the game, and interrupting our own enjoyment of the game to check reported posts. We haven't the time to read every single post in real time. We will review the thread but if you can't be arsed to use the report post button, you don't get to come on and whine about moderation. In future report posts or you can have a card yourself for backseat moderation.

I was on the fence with Farrell and thought these two games would make or break him but after these two games things aren’t looking good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,761 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

France did their best to keep Ireland somewhat in the game... But their defence was ridiculous

No they're not. An average Wales team with a manager that has been under criticism in Wales have a live chance to win a Grand Slam.

There was a Grand Slam there for the taking this year and Ireland had enough talent to win it, poor decision making by the manager though killed our chances.

Great times. I've been missing the heroic defeats.
