The main positive is the pack. Nobody really playing poorly from 1-8. Our problem is that when we look to spread it we are lost. Catt is stealing a living by the looks of it. Too many passes out wide are not going where they should be, in front of the receiver.

does anyone think we would have played better with Murray and sexton ? I'm not so sure

Probably not. Sexton is passed his best but we have better options than Burns.

3 points a poor return for our efforts. Hugo just needed to hold a split second bon his pass to Lowe.

    Big momentum changer.

I like Keenan but he definitely could have done better there. Gave Lowe too much to do.

Be nice if the merchants that will come up with standers small yard gain for high carrying stats could watch how many players are tackling him every time he gets the ball.

Cian Healy a spent docket already.

Every pack needs a player to make the hard yards, stander does that for Ireland. He plays 6 when Doris is at 8. You can't run a backrow without one guy who aggressively trucks it up. Every successful team has that player.

Big calls to be made by Farrell at half time. France there for the taking but Burns and JGP clearly not up to it. Does Farrell have the courage to call that he made the wrong selection and change it at half time.

Burns hasn’t been that bad tbf but JGP has been poor

Why not...he's probably better than all the others you mentioned already

The national team should not be used to develop players imo.

Fellas earn their crust week in week out - Casey has this year but to suggest he is better than those other four scrum half’s is not right.

France the better team in the first have but Ireland not bad either but could be better. I blame the TMO for saying the try was not a try when it was a try.

    You listening on the Radio..?

Jesus lads - we're 10-3 down at HT against the Grand Slam favourites and yere calling for heads to be taken. We had a very dominant opening twenty or so minutes and one French surge aside, we've contained them very well.

    But sure, #AndyOut.

Neither should it be used to develop coaches

Jgp and burns kicking from hand has been reasonable.

I wouldn't mind but he's made a number of passes as well and tackled everything in sight. His offload to Keenan could have resulted in a try on another day. People just looking to create a narrative.

Ah stop its far more than that and you know it

The difference is that France have a genuine attacking game that doesn't depend on collision after collision.

Ireland are doing a lot really well - scrum, lineout, kicking game - but just don't have the attacking game.

    True

Ireland were OK in the first half...Henderson, Ruddock and Keenan have been very good. The scrum has been very good and the lineout has functioned well, although there have been a couple of dropped balls, although we got away with one.

Burns has done alright, apart from the missed penalty, but it is what it is...Gibson Park has maybe been more of a concern.

If France score early in the second half we are in trouble.

No invention in attack and couldn't exploit a 14 man France.

Appointing Catt might have been a mistake.

It's frustrating, because our scrum and line-out have been great.

A bit of a cutting edge in attack and we'd be laughing.

I suppose it's also worth noting but for an inch on the touch, and an extra inch of a jump from Henderson, we'd be in a better position.

Besides the point though I guess, we're just not looking dangerous with the ball in hand.

    We should bring Casey on

    Agreed.

  • We've played ok at points but the way they support compared to us is night and day and we're once again being let down by simple, basic skills like making an accurate pass while running at pace. Very hard to see us winning from here imo.

I think, albeit based on limited evidence, that we have the worst attacking structure in the competition. I have no idea what we are trying to do. Players taking the ball standing still a mile behind the gainline with no deception or decoy runners at all.

But tgis has always been the case. Farrell was lauded for "changing" our gameplan

Hence y many r so pissed off

They're doing ok but compare them to Dupont and Jalibert. No where near the level required

    No.

People are looking for issues with JGP and Burns because of the fuss that's been made about us playing with neither Sexton nor Murray.

Sexton misses kicks all the time, and t's harsh to blame JGP for the try. They tore through us and the defence was scrambling.

Both the half backs have been grand.

Burns is rubbish. Surely Ross Byrne a better option.

Unfortunately I can see us getting murdered in the second half. We had opportunities there and France got away with a lot. I think they'll improve in the second half and our bench isn't great.

Have a look at the French try. Players running at gaps, not at players. Trucking it up doesn't mean trying to run over people.

People calling for Farrell to go are stupid you can see real positives there but our attack is awful and that needs to be addressed before we can start taking advantage of our possession dominance

Burns has been fine, that miss was horrible though.

He's putting some serious height on those garryowens and he's not getting enough change from his chasers.

Fixed your post there, if they want to do up a video of clips of examples of penalties for going off your feet at the breakdown just show that over and over, the fact that he was trying to seal off a 9 made it worse.

    The french player backed away.
I've seen that happening more and more recently
