Same posters who never had an issue with Donald playing golf and watching tv all the time are now demanding Biden should be working 24/7. And you have the other fella saying he was signing so many EOs he was a dictator. They can't make up their mind what kind of faux outrage to go for.
It looks like he has been working 24/7 to this point in fairness.

Is sorting the Julian Assange situation top of your list of what he should be doing? I suspect he has bigger fish to fry at the moment.

It's something that can be done very quickly and send a good message around the globe. I think he should do it quickly.

Obama/Biden tried to get at Assange based on the sexual assault allegations.

It was the Trump administration that indicted Assange in relation to the Espionage Act, something Obama wouldn't do because he knew it was a load of bollocks and would be detrimental to journalism.

The New York Times and other outlets were privy to the same information that got Assange indicted.

Assange was charged (by the Trump admin) with 'conspiracy to commit computer intrusion' and shortly thereafter was indicted (by the Trump admin.) under the Espionage Act.

The whole shabang was exacerbated exponentially under Trump.

The sexual assault that took place in Sweden? Or are you meaning they were open to catching him and extraditing him to face charges in Sweden..

That's a strange take on why Obama/Joe didn't take the steps we seen under Trump against Assange.. The Obama administration has the reputation of being against journalism that is based off of leaks..

I'll ask again, what had you pinning your hopes on Biden doing any favours with regards anything WikiLeaks/Assange?

Also Assange showed up in the Mueller probe in relation to Roger Stone iirc. He rarely behaved as a simple leaker of important news. Eg he refused to engage with Russia leaks in 2016 so I tend to lack much sympathy for him. My sympathy does go to people like Manning though.

I'd be of the same opinion, whatever good that he did initially, he completely tarnished his reputation in laundering the dnc hack by Russian agents

Yeah, I'd agree with these thoughts, I think the DNC leaks were more salacious stuff then actual public interest info like the Chelsea Manning stuff or Snowden.

I'm pretty sure the starting point of his downfall was the iraq war files leaked by Chelsea Manning? After that, the force of the US fell upon WikiLeaks and himself to shut up and stop speaking about leaks.. Visa/MasterCard/PayPal etc were all stopped doing business with WikiLeaks..

Given the above, thinking Joe biden is gonna help assange is a strange thought process.

Mentioned it yesterday but more details on the child benefit to lift many children out of poverty in the US. The Relief Bill will contain of $250/300 per month, higher payment for under 6s. That is a really radical move and much more important than the size of the once off Covid payment.

I see they are also going to give people money to help pay for funerals, this will be retrospective as well

Eh, you missed the part where Biden put an embargo on deportations for 100 day but a federal judge over ruled the order. Or you're just being disingenuous. I'd like to give you the benefit of the doubt but Trump supporters usually post in bad faith so likely the same here again.

There's not many people on Boards that are further to the left than me.

So, ironically, you're closer ideologically to Trump than I am.

Has Joe Biden made any indication about the annual st Patrick's day visit from the Irish taoiseach

I'm sure that is at the top of his agenda every morning.

Yes he included it in his non-existent Covid plan.

Has Joe Biden made any indication about the annual st Patrick's day visit from the Irish taoiseach

Why would he? Have past presidents made announcements?

I'm sure if he invites Martin, you will reply - "I can't believe he is allowing someone into the country when there's a global pandemic. Lol - typical hypocrisy from Biden"

    And if he doesn't

"So now oul "Irish Joe" couldn't even bother to ask Martin over? See how disingenuous he is?"

His predecessor could never break 50%.

Another achievement by Joe in a month that Trump couldn't achieve in 4 years.

Relations must be quite sour between the two countries as so many want him to go and can't envisage him skipping it for a year.

Relations between the US and ourselves have dramatically improved in the last month.

What happened during the Trump term?

The threat of taking back US multinationals never materialised, another failed promise by Trump.

This is a popular policy in America. I could be wrong but I seem to remember Biden supporting such a move.

There has never been a time when the trip to Washington was 'necessary' as a consequence of poor relations, and that isn't the case now either.

It is an opportunity for a private meeting with the holder of the most powerful office in the world, someone who is very proud of their Irish heritage and could very possibly be their first meeting with a foreign leader since they came in to office.

It maintains the good relationship there already is between the countries and that is nothing but a good thing.

Not that you have said it, but for those who might be thinking it, it is nothing like someone wanting to go off to the canaries for a week.

Not going to debate this nonsense.
    Since this a Biden Presidency thread here's what he's doing today;
' today president Joe Biden and vice president Kamala Harris will be meeting senators – from both parties it appears – to discuss the need to invest in infrastructure at 10am. Transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg will be dialling in virtually for that.

Later on the president receives his daily brief at 11.15am, then visits Viral Pathogenesis Laboratory at the National Institutes of Health. He’ll deliver remarks to staff there at 4.30pm EST.'

Frankly that is a weird reply.

So if our relations aren't bad, then it can wait a year.

    That's the point.

It's similar to a Trump nutter reply tbh. I don't see much difference.

We gain more by having it, than by postponing it.
Biden and Martin are both being tested daily and Martin would travel on the Government jet.

It should absolutely go ahead as long as the message is that it is safe, streamlined and not a junket. If either party wants to cancel, it should be done via a joint statement.

I actually think Martin should not go and make a big show of not going, I’m sure the Biden administration would happily accommodate making a show of we’re not doing this this year but the bond remains strong etc. Why that poster is trying to make a deal of it in here is beyond me.
