Is there anything a discovery can do that a land cruiser can't ? ,

No, afaik it came down to the disco and the land cruiser but there was a supply issue with the Toyota at the time.

Someone tried to give them a 2.0 Tuscon initially

Try driving one wearing a stab vest. Try being a member at the taller end of the scale, wearing a stab vest trying to get in or out of one, let alone drive one.
Any garda vehicle could end up being the one that has to keep in contact with criminals who are trying to evade capture. It isn't always RSU or Road Policing.
I'll bow to others in terms of the internal size , and yeah as uniform and kit gets bulkier ( and hopefully more effective/protective) then the vehicle is going to have to follow ... I've never been in a kona but it looks a lot bigger than an old fiesta ..
Is a kona any slower than an i30 ?

Army didn't use that type of landie at the time those Granada were still in use. (not without ****load of aerials and more windows.)
It must be for a movie or something?

Agreed, looks staged- it’s lit like a film set

Land Rover is British army spec, and Granada is the 2.0 engined one doing the rounds at shows. The lights on the roof light bar should be the 'crumpet' ones, not the tall Hellas and the reg plate has clip on letters rather than the usual pressed ones...Movie set:cool:

Have all of the Covid rentals gone back ?

I seen a few white Tuscons around Cork City in the last few days not fully marked up, just with Garda on them and they have unmarked type blues.

    In Ireland no.

Has it been done yes but not like that, if it's warranted the car is a tool and can and has to be used to stop.a threat.

Most wouldn't be trained as the specialist units so many driving around aren't even allowed use the siren never mind chase or hit another car.

I don't think they are, if you look at the picture from d51984 there is a lot of black in there but the back of the bike and the farings at the front are both white.

Only good thing about them was the matrix sign with the messages on the back. Don't know why that wasn't put into all cars.

Them fiat uselesses.... Were like driving a boat....

Is there many or any Volvo's left in the fleet, haven't seen any in a very long time.

Use to be the British first choice for motorway crunchers. Quick beasts too.

No, unless they're still in the driving school. They'd be 14 years old by now. All replaced by the Q7/X5/530d now

Plus you had to get in front of pal first....

Were the Alfa's not before the Camry? I remember them as mid 90's.

In relation to the Nissan and the Sabb marked patrol cars, how did they come about? Surly AGS sign with a manufacturer that won a tendering process and don’t go around buying individual cars?

There was and is certain purchases.

Nissan Almera were quite common even as unmarked units.
Not a huge number of primera.

Corolla 1.4 petrols were common too...

    Huge selection over the years.

They tend to go with cheapest or what looks like the cheapest.

Sure fiats were a think too with Punto and the uleseses
