Here is more about the Visa thing:
    - https://www.coindesk.com/visa-anchorage-crypto-apis-pilot-for-banks

If I get it right, it sounds like they are building some kind of Bitcoin trading and custody backend, with an API on top of it so that banks who are Visa customers can offer the service to their own individual customers.

if correct this could be pretty big.

Yes, the easier it is for your grandmother to simply invest in crypto without any faffing about then the more potential it has.

wondering does anyone have advice for what a newbie should buy? have 1 Ether and thats making good profit so far, also I bought XLM shares, which is slow moving.

Polkadot, chainlink and cardano seem to be the ones that stand out to me - is there one that seems to have more of a practical application going forward?
Or maybe investing a little in them all is the way to go?

Ever considered Bitcoin? Decent returns over the last decade.

I actually bought 500 euros worth a couple weeks ago, and stupidly sold it at a loss in a panic when it went down - the last few weeks I've got a lot more educated so I do plan on buying some again but will wait for a dip. At the moment there does seem to be a crypto bubble so may wait on a dip for most coins?

    Kraken down for me.

Never sell at a loss, hold until it bounces back no matter how long it takes!

that's probably good advice for coins like bitcoin, but not for low market cap coins that aren't established. Shortly after I started investing I had 50% in a top 50 coin, it went to **** so I traded for eth. eth is up 3 or 400% from when I traded while the other coin is only up 10% and it could have easily been down 50%.

It’s been a decade long bubble in that case.

Bitcoin less exciting than the others, but less volatile.

If Bitcoin drops 50% you can rest assured a lot of the others will too.

All depends on your time preference.

Moved form Coinbase to Kraken and I’ve found it no better at all for uptime.

A bubble is a bull market that you don't have a position in.

Like I said a few days ago when eth was 1k. It may never come back to this level for A long long time and who knows where it could end up.

Fetch.ai on a crazy run today, +44%. Not a major amount of news on them, some partnership on DeFi stuff 2wks ago, anyone know much about it? I'm finally not a bagholder on it anymore after I picked up a hell of alot more than I should of last summer during alt season.

I've found support to be terrible lately across most platforms.

Binance suspended fiat channels on me in error. Refuse to review.
Coinbase, I've verified identify multiple times, but not showing up as verified. no reply from support
    Etoro, same as the above.

All vendors that re easy to work with charge silly fees

    https://www.google.ie/amp/s/finance.yahoo.com/amphtml/news/nydig-expects-hold-25b-bitcoin-184649437.html

That’s about 2 years worth of supply at current prices.

The number is about to go up.

To really indulge in some fantasy thinking here: BTC has done it's above ATH run and slowed down, Eth has just gone above ATH and is still moving. If Eth slows down, would be interesting to see the market turned it's full attention to an alt frenzy.

I've had awful trouble trying to get set up on Coinbase. I am Irish but living in Canada. No pictured Canadian ID so can't register for a Canada wallet, no Irish address so can't register for an Irish wallet. Seems a fairly big flaw in their system.

Their fees are 1.5% which is 40% cheaper than Revolut's 2.5% which is fairly major.

Wealthsimple, over here, have 1.5% fees but only offer BTC and ETH.

Hoping to get the Coinbase situation sorted soon but I'd have thought that two weeks ago too and yet here we are.

I've always found them to be rubbish anytime I've tried to use them to be honest. I guess they charge a premium as the leading exchange yet for that, their support and sometimes their platform is rubbish.

Have you tried Binance or Kraken?

Jaysus you should of tried them back in the day, any sort of bullish activity and coinbase was non accessible, it's a lot better now but still, they struggle. I think some of it is deliberate in order to stop attacks on crashing the market

personally think Link will be lost in the wilderness at some stage, ETH will hit 10k, possibly this year, Dot is the next Eth for me, sitting and not even considering selling until it gets into the 250 - 500 $ range. Be careful of Defi, think it is well dodgey. Dot for me is going to be huge, maybe look at some of the child projects of it. Eth will be hugerr, BTC will keep going. I like a few older projects, Dash, Lisk, ICX, Cardano, IOTA. I think they may be a slightly longer outlook though but could go on massive runs at any time, depending on certain factors coming together, 1 being if they start to break out, i would be straight in and wait for at least a 10x return.
Also take profits to cover your initial investment or indeed a bit more and let the rest ride (free roll of the dice).

Also in regard to breaking out, once a project goes on a little run and breaks milestone figures i.e. $1 then $1.50, then $2 after this it can start to really get going.
    Good luck

What are your thoughts on Chiliz (CHZ)? A lot of the big players in world soccer are on board.

Elon has removed the #bitcoin from his Twitter bio.

    BTC still at 37.5k

The good news is he can add it again.

Don't go with Revolut, Robinhood, Paypal, eToro or the likes...you never actually own your coins and are stuck in a proprietory system. With Coinbase Pro and Binance (for example) you can withdraw your coins to your own private wallet.

Elons' Twitter account appears to have been hacked. That, or he is having a melt down of sorts.

He tweeted "Doge" at 7.30. an hour later it had gone up 50%. crazy that he can move a coin with a 6 billion market cap by 50% with a 1 word tweet.

I see he's saying he will be off Twitter 'for a while'. Wouldn't surprise me if he comes back with a bang with some sort of Crypto announcement.

You were spot-on! Although in the typical backwards nature of markets these days - good news means the product will shed 4-6%...

Edit: Woops just noticed what's going on with his account...

Musk has a track history of exploiting tweets for financial gain. He is now the worlds richest man thanks to a 2020 tweet about how people's Teslas would be self driving money earning taxis by the end of 2020.

He can move markets via tweet, we can't, so unless you have a crystal ball as to which way he will tweet next, a bit of caution might be prudent.

The only person who has ever been more able to financially benefit from a simple tweet has been Trump.
