It may sound cynical but Im now on 350 pup, with no expectation my main job will come back before quarter three and taking eight week tco contract which would invalidate my pup claim would be stupidity. I wonder if that’s a common feeling.

PUP is due to stop in April so you will the go to jobseekers on 203 worth rethinking maybe

I’m not entirely sure what you mean but here’s three answers.

Will it end in April ? they said that last year!
I will take the job if April date holds
If im called before April what then.

It's a roll of a dice for yourself. I'd rather take the work than wait but that's just myself

Anyone else having trouble getting references? Seems a lot of places don't want to hand them out to TCO's.

I worked for An Garda Siochana and I never got a reference. They told me that they don't do them which i thought was odd. Anyone else experience this?

I am assuming that most place would give a general reference.

I can confirm that so and so worked with us between .. and ..

Not a reference as such. Anyway you could always FoI them.

If it was me I'd take the job even though it's less pay.
    1. Because it closes the gap in your CV a bit.
    2. It gets you back on the saddle so your brain doesn't turn into mush.
    3. It's probably the safest option because the pup might come to abrupt end.

I'm in the same boat, on PUP, OOM 12 in Meath, hopefully I will get a job offer in the next few months. I'll definitely take it as I'm cracking up being at home and my brain is already mush! :D:D

As far as I'm aware, unless it's an issue of logistics and you're outside a certain radius, once you turn down an offer you're off the panel.

    got a question.

i am currently on a tco contract for the next 6 months from the 2020 panel. i’m also on the 2021 panel.

i’ve heard that if you have served as a tco before, then you don’t need to go through the interview stage for the panel you’re currently on. is this true? if so, should i contact pas and let them know? or should i wait until i’m called for interview to tell them?

    thanks

As far as I know that is correct. From what I can recall the application form for the TCO 2021 campaign. The form asked about previous employment history as a TCO

    I just found this thread!
I'm OOM 8 for Kildare, last Friday I received email for self declaration/Garda Vetting. This is my first time applying for TCO. Im currently on a temporary contract with HSE which has been extended once so far. I didn't realise the TCO was only 8-26 weeks fixed term contracts. I think id have a better chance of a permanent contract staying where I am. I'll see what the offer is though :-)

Im in a similar situation but I believe they might only skip the interview if you've completed a tco contract rather than if you're still on one from the 2020 panel.

NomadicGray is correct you have to have completed a TCO contract in the last 3 years. To skip interview they ask for your TCO references.

Donegal update: they have started interviews for those as far as the 20's - I got an email advising to they will be reaching out soon for references from previous TCO.

hi, On the GARDA VETTING, do I need to declare convictions (drink driving etc) from years ago?? or are they classed as spent convictions?
Did a Garda Vetting for a job before and it came back Nil but not sure with the CIVIL and Public Service

No, friend of mine has been offered a contract without interview, he is currently on a TCO 2020 contract.
