SNAs are there to assist 2 needs.

They are grouped into Primary Care Needs- so that would be assisting with feeding, toileting, administering medicine etc.

Then there is Secondary Care Needs which is helping with organisational skills, keeping child on task, supervising child, helping with formulation of Support Plans, assisting with production of materials and resources etc etc.

It really depends on what kind of special need and special setting you are working with. It varies so much.

I know in my school, the SNAs are constantly questioning any tasks they are requested to undertake and the principal has to constantly refer back to their contracts and job descriptions.
