The poll says 300m but it's actually 30m.

That kind of clownshoes mistake is just in line with all his other posts

Story has been repeated over and over, the EU has purchased a shed load of vaccine, these will be delivered after the rest

    Non story

So EU Commissioner Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen who is German - ignores Germany breaking the EU vaccine procurement agreement.

    Well that's a surprise.

Just as Germany decision to block a large order and shipment of face masks enroute to Austria last March

Just as Germany closed its borders with other EU countries at the start of the Pandemic when we were been told we couldn't do it here

Just as German Bond holdings got their returns and we got shafted.

Great to be part of such an equitable community

    ;)

Germany agreed this back in September. Were people outraged then?

As I recall when it first came up people were saying every country should do their own deals on top of the EU arrangement.

Afaik it was agreed that the "no member state on a legal-binding basis was allowed to negotiate in parallel or to have a contract in parallel,"

Eitherway the outcome of this could be interesting...

Was this even public back in September, people have been talking about countries making other orders but it has been shot down as against the agreement.
In a way the German action was a good thing as it caused the EU to put in a 300 million dose order. However has it been confirmed that the German top up is coming after the EU top up?
Anyway for a apparently rules based organisation it isn't great even if there isn't much direct consequences that the powerful countries know they will never be sanctioned.

I don't know all the details, but if the EU president is saying that side deals are not allowed then this doesn't look good, as all these vaccines are coming out of the same pot.

Should we not be thinking of getting in Stella Kyriakides butchers shop queue.

Does our own government have a plan or is just follow the EU Commission blindly.

Why would a union of countries even want side orders? That to me is not a union.

Didn't Germany go on a solo run with PPE last year by confiscating shipments to other countries.

They used or tried to use export controls. There was lot of that kind of thing back in March, including the US almost high jacking shipments on the tarmac!

Germany is always breaking the rules.

Germany is now the biggest breaker of EU rules, according to new statistics on enforcement actions started by Brussels against member states.
