Over 8k cases not 2 weeks ago now it’s around 1k. Around 80% drop. But let’s tighten restrictions and extend lockdown for another 6 weeks.

    Utter fcuking madness this is.

You want to go back to over 8k cases per day?

    Seriously?

For clarity, you were not quoted for saying A&E was quiet, people agreed that it probably was as people were staying away. The issue was you saying that was a reflection on the hospital as a whole. Connolly was almost at capacity as per hospital reports that day. This was pointed out to you also.

But sure, don't let the truth get in the way of a good story. :D

Your vitriol for healthcare workers is really strange. What have they done to you?

    Never said that at all.

And fcuking talking about what Christmas 2021 will be like.

Who gives an absolute sh1t about that. There will be nothing left here if this crap continues.

    It’s unbelievable this.....

Unfathomable even... where is any logical thinking.

Let’s get the case numbers down so they can go up again.

I’d nearly rather a million cases a day at this stage. Be all over in a week .....,

You dont say 'vitriol'. It's an expression of feeling. Look it up. You have continuously pushed the agenda that healthcare workers are lying about their levels of stress. I can't help but think you blame them for keeping you in lockdown. Do you think it's all a big conspiracy and hospitals are lying about capacity?

Stress is subjective as well. I have very stressful days some days and other days, not so much.

You have also stated numerous times that we are all being led to believe hospitals are overrun with ambulances queuing up outside. The daily hospital reports are available for you to look over and will tell you how busy hospitals, particularly ICU, are. Why not look at them? Or does it not suit your agenda to have the facts on this?

When Varadkar says "naive population", in that context, he is using medical terminology.

    naive

"expose a naive population to the virus"

Like night following day, the crash of metal whenever the HSE are tasked with any notion of responsibility. Too many administrators who don't know their arse from their elbow, and we're relying on them for a return to normality later in the year. God help us.

Seems like there’s a few people on here who would only love if hospitals were overflowing with Covid19 patients. It would justify their hysteria.

Just listening to Matt Cooper’s show on the way there and a self-employed man text in saying he lays floors for a living and had loads of work lined up but that’s gone for him. He said he’s worried sick as he will struggle to pay rent, bills and feed his family on €350 pw. He has used up all his savings.

Some people think the whole country works in the public service and backed by unions. Nice WFH arrangements for them, save a few bob on travel and see the kids more. I’m alright Jack.

We rarely hear from the self employed or private sector workers. All about the public service.

Paying doctors €35 to inject one patient but leave the ordinary working man hang out to dry.

A country of selfishness and greed.

Only a sick and twisted person would actually want people to be in hospital and potentially dying with covid. Think about what you said.

And all for what? To keep themselves and everyone in lockdown. Just because someone agrees with lockdown doesn't mean they enjoy being in it.

Surprised it took so long really.

Historical evidence of competency is severely lacking on their behalf.

Looks like reading is not your strongest point, I clearly said ICU is busy.

Perhaps try to read posts properly before arguing?

I’ve tried to give the government the benefit of the doubt since last March and by and large I have. I like many others have followed the rules and have done what is asked of us even if we didn’t like it. It then you get stuff that happened tonight. Honestly is Steven Donnelly the worst minister for health ever ? He seems to just say stuff in a word salad and it makes varying degrees of sense. Why in the name Of Bernie Murphy are the government talking about next Christmas ? Am I right in thinking the government have a PR wing to it ? If I’m right I hope they kept the receipt.

But it’s ok if the annual winter flu kills them? But Covid19 means we must ruin lives to keep them ‘safe’?

It’s still quite remarkable to me that if someone had Covid19 and dies of cancer it goes down a Covid19 death but if that same person has flu it’s not counted as a flu death.

    Something very wrong with that.

Let’s say that he is. It shouldn’t have to be clarified constantly. That’s my main issue is the constant clarification on regulations and choose words carefully.

This is just all too much now. Micheál wouldn’t even answer when a journalist asked him to give people some hope and positivity. It’s just hard to see what’s the point now. There’s only so much we can do collectively without feeling like our efforts are being made a mockery of. I can’t believe there’s already talk of a restricted Christmas 2021. This will never end

yeah . i mean he is talking to the general public he should know better than to use the medical definition of naive when he is referring to us like hello. dont u want votes.

    I feel so naive :(

There were one or two posters who said "Its only skipping Christmas for one year." They've already been proven wrong.

    Is this true?

Stephen Donnelly magically conjured up over 80 million euros to pay GPs and pharmacists for delivery of the vaccines. I wonder if this will have to be paid back in some form, say like the next budget

    Is this true?

Yep. Sure haven’t they been getting €20 for every test referral for months now. That’s basically a phone call stating your symptoms then they decide if you need a test. €20 for a 5 minute phone call.

    Crazy.
