    What's a balls up

Not about getting the numbers down its all about getting the hospital numbers down

We will see other variants of this virus and we have to be cautious. Rulling out travel for 2021

    ****ing hell this is infuriating

Probably wants to desperately prove you wrong.

    Yep.

    Don’t bow to pressure though.

I’d rather this forum retained its honour for speaking the truth.

It’s became a beacon of the fourth estate

Well every other hospital in the country must be bedlam bar the one I work in. If I could bring you in and show you you'd be shocked.

Besides Pat wouldn't have me on, Luke o'neill has that gig

You’re just 1 person working in 1 part of 1 hospital... what would you know?

    Am I doing this right?

Ehhh I suppose you missed the part where alcohol only pubs in Dublin have NOT been allowed to re open since March 2020.

    Well now you know.

That is so funny lol you dont seem to be very well informed at all :pac:

Have you got comprehension issues? I stated that you refused to support Irish hospitality ie hotels.B&Bs last summer when you flew off on a foreign holiday instead of staying at home after wailing for weeks about Irish people not being allowed to do so. Nice deflection attempt by you though old buddy. Par for the course I suppose.

Oh god, I was in A+E in Connolly hospital last week and I gave my personal account.

I had several posters jumping all over me for saying how quiet A+E was.

I would have been better off pretending I waited 2 days while watching healthcare workers pass out with stress.

Me too when I commented how quiet the hospital I was working in was 2 weeks ago.

The panic and mass chaos we are told about by the media just wasn't happening.

You were working on the ICU ward?

I can walk anywhere in the hospital that isn't a red zone which means full PPE, gown ect. I have good friends who work in Covid and say they dont really do much. It's a long day.

Now ICU can be busy but it is every year, covidbor no covid

For clarity, you were not quoted for saying A&E was quiet, people agreed that it probably was as people were staying away. The issue was you saying that was a reflection on the hospital as a whole. Connolly was almost at capacity as per hospital reports that day. This was pointed out to you also.

But sure, don't let the truth get in the way of a good story. :D

Your vitriol for healthcare workers is really strange. What have they done to you?

ICU was actually closed for parts of the summer, so the staff had to be redeployed to general wards to tot up their off duty hours. ICU has 7 beds, when its open it can be busy because its 24/7 around the clock care.

I honestly think people here want to see ICU's overrun for some kind of bizarre justification for lockdowns. It's like saying seatbelts are not needed in cars because deaths from car crashes are low.

Why would anyone want to remain in lockdown? Genuine reasons if you have them.

But doesnt Tony tell us that hospitals are close to being overwhelmed?

Could you tell him to be a bit more specific and clarify that its the ICU's he is referring to exclusively?

    For accuracy, you know.

Usually at this time of year, hospitals are well over capacity. Hospitals have been way busier previous winters.

Seems like there’s a few people on here who would only love if hospitals were overflowing with Covid19 patients. It would justify their hysteria.

Just listening to Matt Cooper’s show on the way there and a self-employed man text in saying he lays floors for a living and had loads of work lined up but that’s gone for him. He said he’s worried sick as he will struggle to pay rent, bills and feed his family on €350 pw. He has used up all his savings.

Some people think the whole country works in the public service and backed by unions. Nice WFH arrangements for them, save a few bob on travel and see the kids more. I’m alright Jack.

We rarely hear from the self employed or private sector workers. All about the public service.

Paying doctors €35 to inject one patient but leave the ordinary working man hang out to dry.

A country of selfishness and greed.

Would anybody hazard a guess at what the movement limit will be by Easter? Will it be county or more do ye think?

I really am feeling increasingly oppressed and dejected. So am trying to see what I might be able to possibly look forward to then. 5km,even county is too much imo if numbers are down significantly and hospital numbers stabilised.

Only reason is to keep ICU numbers down and prevent avoidable deaths.

Unless mortality rate of new variants goes to 2 - 4 % I really dont see how the damage that has already been done and is being done to say children's education, working class people, business owners, etc. can ever be justified.

Have ICU ever been this overwhelmed? It has been pointed out on here numerous times that hospitals that don't have critical care beds available are the main problem because anyone needing them, whether already in the hospital on a general ward, or coming to hospital urgently cannot get the specialised care they need.

Patients in hospital can deteriorate very quickly and need ICU.

Last week 13 hospitals had ICU at capacity. While some patients in them will recover enough to move to general covid wards, sadly some of the people in them will have died and that frees up beds in them. It's why a daily overview of the hospital situation is important to see current availability.

Over 8k cases not 2 weeks ago now it’s around 1k. Around 80% drop. But let’s tighten restrictions and extend lockdown for another 6 weeks.

    Utter fcuking madness this is.
