Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Did you stop to see why the posts were deleted?

Typically it was petty off topic bickering (like what we're engaged in).

I read the thread daily and don't recall seeing overtly racist rhetoric used at any point.

What is your knowledge base in relation to racism within the Republic of Ireland? Do you believe this is an institutionally racist country?

    That's incredibly easy to prove.

"Yes I deleted those posts within the last hour, made by several users, (not sure what earlier posts you are referring to as I wasn't online earlier)

They were not discussing the topic of the thread. It was you and another user arguing about having poor standards of discussion and dodging questions or something along those lines. They were off topic and will not be restored."

And to use one of the more recent examples from the thread. A lecturer who has lived in Ireland since he was a child and this is the type of remarks from posters when he discussed experiences with racism "I know it is RTE, but I wonder if Tommy asked his guest about the Nigerian gangs trafficking children into Ireland for sex?". Basically painting a guy with the same brush based on nationality... So you can pick between xenophobia or racism with remarks like that.

Also I don't believe anyone has proven abusing a report button is responsible for threads being locked...

Talking about criminality coming out of a country where people happen to be black is racist?

If they said that is happening because of the skin colour of those involved, that's racist. As it stands it isn't.

This never happened. Truly. Never spoke a word about the woman trampled, never even seen the video of the one trampled. I've already addressed this with you, even a site:boards.ie google demonstrated there is no evidence for your claim.

Of course it was not racist, but it does not surprise me that he thought it was. They see racism everywhere. Unsurprisingly the rest of the quote was not provided where the post deals with the lack of partially by RTE when it comes to race relations in Ireland. RTE sells the Ebun Joseph version of race in Ireland with little to no reporting about the racism exhibited by blacks on white people in this country; of which there are numerous examples including the Nkencho gang that racially abused the innocent people in the Spar in Blanchardstown solely based on their white skin colour.

I don't recall that it was such a post, and if it was then I was under the impression we were talking about Babbitt. I am only peripherally aware of a woman getting trampled, I haven't seen the video of that, it's certainly gotten far less notoriety.

    You get offended easily.

Saying you're a big boy in relation to you doing your own research is hardly offensive.

You accused me of denying racism, offered no evidence to support that claim, engaged in childish bickering including posting a stupid picture of a waffle, and I said so much for "don't be a dick". Is that not fair comment?

I said you were posting like a madman, perhaps the use of that term in Ireland alludes you, I was referring to you posting a lot of posts in quick succession. I was not calling you a madman. But then you're not Irish and don't have the same insight into Irish issues as most on this site so I can understand that.

Or the perfect example of where posters should be removed from a thread and not let the few ruin it for everyone else who are contributing positively.

The George Nkencho thread was a **** show right from the start. Before his body was even cold people were on that thread spreading false information. A lot of new profiles were popping up to help spread these lies and there was a lot of racism. Thankfully pretty much all the racist posts were removed by the mods.
But for weeks you still had many posts basically revelling in the death of a guy. It was very disturbing IMO.

At this stage from what I saw of that thread before it was closed, after thousands of posts, it was basically just an extension of the multiculturalism thread and not much of the incident itself was being discussed.

I am surprised by a lot of what is allowed to play out on the CA forum given how heavily moderated Boards is in general, but in the end I guess It's up to the people who run this forum to decide what they want to leave up and how they want to manage it.

The biggest issue is people are using the term racism to shut down discussions ,
Is someone asking about why there has been no mention of sex trafficking gangs from Nigeria operating here in Ireland racist ,
At best you could claim generalisation but not racism ,

We have a full legal definition of racism and racists ,yet any discussion is labelled racism when it comes to economic migrant's claiming asylum or various different criminal gangs based on LA and London street gangs ( no discription other than that) allowed.
Is discussing bogus asylum seekers racist ?

It seems to me that it's a small cohort of people banding the word racist to cover a thousand different topics that doesn't actually involve anything racist
