Its not your fault agreed, but premiums are based on risk, and insuring a car that can be easily stolen is a risk and premiums will increase for those types of cars.

I just renewed my insurance and sent my full 5 years NCB in, it actually says that I have 0 years insurance without a claim because I had a no fault claim for a window screen to the value of 215 euro in march 2020.

The new insurance company accepted my NCB, but it has me thinking how long before insurance companies start blurring lines

I'm not saying it's "not your fault". I'm saying it's defined as a "no fault claim".
Similarly to your windscreen claim. Some (cheaper) insurance companies class windscreen claims as an at fault claim.

Most don't, and your stolen claim will indeed be listed on your NCB form. But, even without NCB protection, it doesnt affect your NCB.

Pre-LCI have ID7 Lite. Just tell dealership you've got intermittent reverse camera issues and they will upgrade software for free. Looks like we will never get RSU for Pre-LCI cars.

Worked a treat! Was actually having intermittent Bluetooth issues (for real) brought it to JD and they updated the software.
All working now and even have Android Auto.

Besides the lack of RSU, what other features are missing in this 'ID7' lite software version? Back in the market for one of these again and not sure whether to go for the 192 or just pick up a 181 or something.

Edit: From this bimmerpost post it looks like:
essentially it’s the “Intelligent Functions” “In Car Experiences” and “Remote Software Upgrade”. These will never be available on the current cars as the required hardware is not installed.

I can live without those, but the RSU would have been nice. In any case, it's still a big step up from my old F10, so I'll probably opt for a 181-182 with a decent spec.

So, do any of you use the e-cars network to charge when out and about? Or do you just wait till you get home.

I’m wondering if I should subscribe to ecars?

No harm subscribing but personally I wouldn’t use them when out.
The charge speed V the cost V parking fees means it’s cheaper to just throw a €1 petrol in and drive home. Charge at home then.

Now opportunity charging is another ball game. If you park some where that’s free parking and free charging then grab it. I follow the ABC rule in my BEV. (Always Be Charging).

I guess PAYG with the 20 euros deposit is the way to go?

That’s all I have. I don’t even use it on my BEV and that can charge at 22kw on the slow chargers or more on the chademo/CCS heads.

Each to their own but work out whether it’s worth your while or not.

Has anyone managed to get the BMW iWallbox from their local BMW dealership?

I bought one on DoneDeal 2 years ago for €200.
It’s a huge piece of kit. Looks space age but its size was a nuisance.

22kw capable with a 3 phase supply so that was handy. I ended up removing it and selling for €275 this year.

    Guys, strange one.
My mam swears a picture or symbol of a reindeer has popped up on the dash of here 530e in recent weeks.

It’s become a bit of a running joke within the family but she swears it happened again today.

Episode 1 ; she was driving at 60kmh on a national road and hit a small pothole. Nothing to be worried about, more a bump in the road.

Episode 2 ; driving this morning. She said a guy in front of her on a bike done a uturn and it popped up again.

Now the car has night vision cameras, pedestrian alerts etc so I’m thinking it’s something from this popping up but it’s hard to figure out as I can’t see anything online about it or in the manual.

    Anyone come across it before?

Do all the 201 and beyond 530e have the live cockpit professional? I am finding the various 'live cockpit' designations a bit of a minefield when browsing the specs of these cars.. Is there only one control display screen size in that 192/201 year model? Difficult to know what to be looking for.

Also, does anyone have the 201 and what's the edrive exterior sound all about?

It's probably the pedestrian warning. It only pops up briefly, in red. It's accompanied by loud beeps though.

She'll know all about it if it ever actually emergency brakes. Mine did it just once in a year & a half of ownership - glued itself to the road. I guess the massive M-Sport brakes & 275 tyres do have their benefits .

Its a pedestrian warning sound that plays out from the car when driving slow..... it says 'Warning BMW Approaching'

I've gone and put a deposit down on a 201, MSport Plus.

Hopefully will be driving it in a couple of weeks. Nice to get the iDrive 7 (lite) and the 12kWh battery. :D

Ya the bigger battery is that bit more useful. Lovely car.

The exterior sound thing is a mad kind of turbine noise i believe.

    very space-age..

edit: can't find any official source so if anyone with a 192 or up could confirm, i'd be curious.

I can confirm my 192 makes a similar sound. I only heard it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. l was outside the house when my wife reversed out - it’s actually quite loud.

    Quick question:
Picking up a `17 530e next week. AFAIK mine is only coming with the 3 pin plug home charging cable but there are charge points in work so I'll need to pick up a full type 2 cable.
    Any recommendations here?
I'm guessing they're pretty standard unless you go full Chinesium?

Prefer to buy from an Irish business.

    NFTs funged. No questions asked.

Waiting on delivery of my 201 530e and looking into getting set up with a home charge point, SEAI grant and all that.

Do these cars include a type 2 to type 2 cable from new? Or is it just pot luck? Or is it just the 3 pin to type 2? Dealer didn't know, car is being prepped to be imported.

Want to get the BMW i Wallbox and the correct cable all sorted soonish.

Normally just the 3 pin granny cable.

BMW wallbox is a big lump of plastic. Make sure you have the space where you want it. I found it very cumbersome.

Few good things about it though, it’s tethered, it’s 3 phase capable (22kw).

I've got space for it, I actually might be in the minority but I like the look of it too :P

Just wondering if anybody has experience of trading in a 530e after 3/4 years with around 100k km on them? I'm considering buying a 201 530e with about 10k on it and normally do about 30k a year mostly commuting 60km round trip to work every day where can charge at work. Normally have traded my previous cars when around 100km on them but wondering if fact that warranty for battery only covers up to 100k km/ 6 years, will dealers claim the value has dropped more because its going to be out of warranty and will cost them to provide a further warranty on it?

Don't think they'll go into that level of detail, they'll just be more interested in what someone will pay them for it. There's 2017 530e msports advertised for around 28k with 100k kms on it and someone is making money at that level, so I'd imagine trade in values for a 4 year old are 24 to 25k at the moment. Depends on how in fashion and in demand they are in 4 years time too.

Is adaptive cruise standard in 2020 models? If not what pack is adaptive cruise included with?

I don't believe active cruise control is standard on any models. For the 5 series, it's part of the "Driving Assistant Professional" package, which in turn can only be purchased as part of the "Technology Plus" pack, which currently costs €6,485.91

Ouch! Guess not too many second-had cars will have adaptive cruise then
