Since she became minister she's had nothing but disaster after disaster. Latest one with FORSA on top of the back to school fiasco after Christmas.

Is she the worst minister ever?

It's a hard fought for title but she's right up there as things stand.

......... I could throw the following into the ring:

    * Shane Ross
    * The Beardy fella who was Minister for Health... and he was a Bloody Doctor as well! As you can see - he made a BIG impression on me.(Edit:Reilly -Thats him!)
    * Eamon Ryan......and his 'pie in the sky' ideas that everyone outside the Pale should share a car when going to the shops to save the ice-caps

It'll be hard to ever topple Reilly.

She’s in over her head anyway.

What politicking resulted in her being made a minister?

At least she fronts up and faces the media.

Leaky Roderic O Gorman is a bit of a disaster as well.

Communication to the creches during the latest lockdown has seen shambolic. Way out of his depth. Nothing from him at all.

Mary harney.....oversaw the outsourcing of cervical checks, with diastorus results

Was embroiled in several expense controversies, iirc she got tax payer to pay for a haircut, while standing on a platform of privatisation to save waste in public service

The idea that all of the nominations for worst minister ever would all come from the last six or seven years kinda shows how seriously they should be taken tbh

Start with the FF govt that crashed the country lads. Every minister since has been doing a job with the consequences of that.

Also any minister who has come to their position since the pandemic? bit of a handicap id have to say.

Now, that said, i wouldn't run to defend a single name offered above either!

Her father as someone else said and being honest having a vagina can't have hurt either.

What I find pathetic about ministers at the moment is that they will spout the government position even when they know it’s ridiculous. Case in point Norma last week schools will open come high or high water when the whole bloody country knew they wouldn’t

    John Bruton,

All he did was try to tax children's clothing/footwear! Small beer in retrospect ;)

I knew this but even still a freshman TD being made a minister is quite rare, only 8 others have done it.

The people did a good job of it too...
We really need to move on from this at this stage.

We should move on, but still it should never be forgotten that FF crashed the economy and the country.

Sure sorting out health was going to be so easy to do once they made sure the money was to follow the patient. He was useless.

We've have/had too Mary really poor ministers/tds, she's only one of many.

    Others include:-

    Eoin Murphy
    Stephen Connolly
    Catherine Zaphone
    Alan Kelly
    Eamon Ryan
    Shane Ross
    Danny Healy Rae

Doesn’t say much about the quality of the other female FF TDs.

If Lisa Chambers had been re-elected, I think she would have made a good minister.

    She's definitely a contender.

This is a thread about worst ever ministers

I didnt just wander into yer front room and start badmouthing yer party......

Dara Calleary went into a public sulk when he only got the whip position. Soon after he got Agriculture and made a monumental error of judgement one day after telling the public that Covid loves to party. He is a contender too.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

    That's seriously absurd.

He's done this State some service. Balanced and intelligent in all his Irish and international politics.

Think Ray Burke, Charlie Haughey, Kevin Boland, James O Reilly etc.

He's a donkey, stalled peace process to save a couple of border seats, brought that thing Sutherland into office,
