    To impeach doesn't need a 2/3 majority.

That's why he has already been impeached once. And by the numbers calculated he will undoubtedly be impeached twice.

The 2/3 majority is needed to convict him and remove him from office.

    That won't happen.

    yeah, we know.

Don't count in it, a number of republicans now comming out saying they will vote to impeach.

The US Military Chiefs have spoken out and condemned the Capitol assault. They also acknowledge that units to be deployed for protection duties on Inauguration Day will need to be screened for possible extremists.

So we have the army of a democratic nation being dragged into politics and wary of possible extremist elements in its own ranks. This is third world banana republic stuff. In the USA.

Two thirds is a bridge too far though I think.

These are congressmen, it don't matter if the entire congress voted to impeach him, unless it gets the supermajority of greater than 2/3rds in the Senate then the Donald has nothing to fear.

The fact Mcconnell is discussing in house about favouring removing Trump and prominent Republicans are backing it. Trump is looking to be in a far more precarious position.

I agree in that he won't be removed, but is being twice impeached a badge he wants to wear?

Could be said that he is already using it to perpetuate his victimhood and distracted his base supporters from suspicion of him.

This idea of him not being allowed to run again appears to be much more complicated than first reported.

Republicans are feeling the pressure. Even so, being impeached twice is a damning indictment on his presidency.

I'm beginning to expect a substantial GOP vote to impeach tomorrow.

A;so given the trial will be after Biden gets in Republicans will be more inclined to vote against Trump to keep him from there party

Just noticed on the BBC Sheldon Adelson died. One of the last Republican Megadonors. Could be yet another part of the GOP suddenly getting a conscience.

Only takes 10 to vote for conviction and 10 not to show up.

I can almost hear him now, "they rigged the election, tried to get rid of me not once but twice by Impeachment", I can see him as the GOP Candidate in 2024 and most likely winning. In the crazy game of politics anything is possible. There will be alot of people severely disappointed with Joe Biden just how Obama disappointed. And even more people who would not back Harris in 2024, (Biden is 1 term he says). And in a potential Trump V Harris race there will be only one winner for me. Lets hope Joe Biden does deliver some of what they promise, end the pandemic and get the US and Global economy back on its feet.

Biden Nominee, Kristen Clarke is Joe Biden’s pick to lead the Justice Department’s civil rights division.

In 1994, while at Harvard Clarke wrote a letter to the Harvard Crimson in her capacity as the president of the Black Students Association. Clarke wanted to explain her views on race science and that is what she did:
“Please use the following theories and observations to assist you in your search for truth regarding the genetic differences between Blacks and whites.”
“One: Dr. Richard King reveals that at the core of the human brain is the ‘locus coeruleus,’ which is a structure that is Black, because it contains large amounts of neuro-melanin which is essential for its operation. Two: Black infants sit, stand, crawl and walk sooner than whites. Three: Carol Barnes notes that human mental processes are controlled by melanin–that same chemical which gives Blacks their superior physical and mental abilities. Four: Some scientists have revealed that most whites are unable to produce melanin because their pineal glands are often calcified or non-functioning. Pineal calcification rates with Africans are five to 15 percent, Asians 15 to 25 percent and Europeans 60 to 80 percent. This is the chemical basis for the cultural differences between Blacks and whites. Five: Melanin endows Blacks with greater mental, physical and spiritual abilities — something which cannot be measured based on Eurocentric standards.”

Clarke says "her job is simple, it’s to end hate..... ‘Melanin Endows Blacks With Greater’ Abilities..... where in history have we heard this type of talk before? But of course this is Joe's priority

I guess the Republican have discussed this in great detail, so I'd expect the votes to be the same in both chambers.

No point in the Republicans in Congress voting for impeachment and hanging their colleagues in the Senate out to dry.

So if they vote to impeach in Congress, is that an indication of how a senate vote would go?

Anyway, is there even time to hold a trial? I'd imagine lawyers can drag it out until the 20th.

Mittt Romney was the only Republican to vote for impeachment the last time, as far as I recall. Two more have said they will vote to impeach, could 7 more actually grow enough spine to do it? Maybe Murkowski from Alaska?

Well if he gets convicted in the senate he can't even run for office ever again, so if Mitch is up for it as rumoured then that maybe wouldn't be a problem
