So the deaths have been spread out over the last couple of weeks and 2 from last month.

If the deaths are low tomorrow I will be thinking that somebody is playing games with this.

    Not really

Just depends on when they're notified of the deaths so yes they can go up and down

What exactly do you mean by that? Death are as reported following registering of deaths - usually by family.

Theses no manipulation if figures, if that's what you mean.

    Perhaps you can elaborate.

    Gut microbiome relevant.
Cannot quite work out if they think pre covid gut microbiome is relevant to getting or not getting, but at least it may be relevant during disease to mitigate severity, and afterwards to clear lingering problems. Meds will affect so perhaps there should be supplementary probiotics etc.
Worth taking good probiotics with the vit D, and making a bit of sauerkraut..

    And lots of fibre!

One day doesn't make a trend. Wait a day or two. And the Hospital cases lag by up to 13 days, with ICU after that again. Not for the first time, you have predicted far too early.

The swabs and positivity rates are definitely trending lower though https://covid19.shanehastings.eu/api/swabs/

The dogs in the street were saying that opening up retail and hospitality in the weeks coming up to Christmas was a bad idea.
Now we have 46 deaths today RIP.
I hope everyone is happy now with how Christmas went for them.

Why didnt the dogs on the streets stay away from retail and hospitality?

The fact is opening up stuff was hugely popular with the public.

The deaths are a factor of the case numbers. They are very similar to the factor of deaths v case numbers in the north. While the North has been getting 10, 15 deaths per day regularly for the past ages, that is the same as us getting 30, 45. It was due to their case numbers. Now we will have proportionally higher numbers. There is no conspiracy. No one is manipulating anyone. The deaths will be higher when there is higher virus in the community. It is very annoying that people call conspiracy when the truth is under their nose..

The Irish Times reporting of today's numbers leaves the impression that they are really just reporting this stuff in bad faith now.

Every day the headline contains cases and deaths. Every day. Except today. Today, it's just the deaths. No mention of the cases until you click into it and at that, nothing said about the fact that the cases are down further today.

Also nothing about when the deaths took place. Obviously, it is very sad to learn of another 46 deaths. It's tragic for so many families and may they have comfort and peace.

It's bad enough having to live through this nightmare without being only given partial information by what is supposed to be and used to be a newspaper of record.

I'm not downplaying Covid, but the Media has used this virus to create maximum fear in return for print sales and clicks on websites. Which is pretty poor by them and it's all of them not just the so called lower base tabloids.

There have been a lot of suspiciousions over this since the Summer. That they let cases and deaths backlog for when they want to send a message. Cases have seen big highs before some sort of government/NPHET meeting before dropping back to average. Today we had a massive drop in cases but for some reason today they have decided that it was the time to update us on backlog deaths.

If it turns out that they have been manoeuvring numbers to send messages, I would fully advocate taking measures against whoever would be behind it.

They have gone down morning to evening before.

No one gets discharged over night. There's a! Full days discharges and about 8 hour admissions between the morning number and the evening numbers.

Thtt said discharges are way up now (because admissions were up 10 days ago).

Compare morning to morning or evening to evening.

Noted. Last time the afternoon update was lower than the morning update was 1st January though, so I do take it as a slight positive sign.

I get what you are trying to say, but the headline news is going to be the 46 deaths.

They do mention that 44 of the deaths occurred in January in their article.

You're making a lot of assumptions there.

It isn't obvious that these people in ICU in their 30s or 40s have underlying conditions. You're assuming that.

The majority of ICU admissions is people in their 50s or 60s. That was the same last Spring and is the same now. Is that old? I don't think so.

"Older people" would not be able for ICU.
Here's a thread explaining what its like.

    https://twitter.com/Jopo_dr/status/1344620439767666688?s=20
This is what I said "Obviously some people in their 30s and 40s will have compromised immune systems and have underlying health issues."
I think that is a correct assumption or are you saying that 100% of people in their 30s and 40s have no underlying conditions. Really?

Have you a reference for your assertion that the majority of ICU admissions are people in their 50s and 60s? I know for a fact that approx 66% of people admitted to ICU this month are over 65.

You can see why people might be bamboozled by the daily numbers. They go into the big HSPC cauldron and you never know what might be poured out!

So, this is the sort of krap that has us in the current state. Argos recently suspended click & collect to stop people attending the stores. This has now been changed such that only 'essential' items can be collected. There is a post on boards where somebody just collected a PS4 controller!

Given our small population, you'd think we would get the population vaccinated very fast.

    But obviously not.

Given the simplicity of the vaccination plan, you'd think people would understand it very fast.

    But obviously not.

Interesting tweet regarding the latest outbreak figures. Outbreaks reported in schools and pubs in the first week of Jan!
The outbreak figures don't show what's happening now, but are historical, it seems. Very difficult to base any exit strategies on this type of data, I would think?

Of those admitted to ICU in the 14 day period up to January 10th, 51% are under 65 and 84% are under 75.

According to the RTE news 65% admitted to ICU this month are over 65. have you a link?

Also the non believers. I am sick of seeing their social media rubbish. They often tend to be people with not many vulnerable family members.

We'll be the best boys and girls in Europe again in a few weeks after being the worst in the world yesterday. The media are so fcuking annoying with RTE top of the pile with their blasting misery headlines when it is all going wrong. When it starts to improve they still try to make it look miserable. Fcukers.

Caitríona Glynn on Six One there: "As cases keep rising, we'll discuss the implications with Ronan Glynn..."
Cases haven't increased in several days, pushing malicious lies designed to intimidate the viewing public. Numbers falling off simply isn't worth dwelling on, shameless bias from our national broadcaster.

Yeah it was a dig at the shameful things I saw going in in the weeks before Christmas. Grafton Street, Henry Street. etc.
Packed streets with people without masks roaring into each others mask less faces. Not giving a fiddlers.

Ronan Glynn is on RTÉ with Caitríona Perry. The 2 of them are talking like they are acting. It's bizarre to look at. Not an ounce of naturalness between them. Wierd as ****.

46 deaths unfortunately looks like it might just be the start.

Anecdotally hearing of a backlog in some funeral homes delaying families from holding funerals by a few days.
