Did NASA have to calculate today's figures?

Its more that it shows how unorganised they are. After 9 months of this surely they can release numbers at a set time everyday..

No it doesn’t. None of us knows what’s going on in the background. I’m sure we’ll have the number shortly. Doesn’t make much difference whether we get it at 5pm or 11pm or somewhere in between.

Today includes modelling, not something you can do on an abacus!

Easy saying so while sitting at home, isn't it?

    Oh I agree.
    It's not Coronation Street!

Just interested to see what they will say.

I would say they might be considering how to answer the inevitable questions about school opening. Do they hang the government out to dry.... or not. Who said what and when, it might take some time to get the story straight.

They're very late with the presser/numbers.

The ASTI just said they won't co-operate with the Department of Education directive so they're probably in panic mode trying to figure out how not to answer any questions about what they think about schools.

It certainly had to do with cost. Cost of medication is a huge burden upon the HSE.

Funny you never mentioned cost until Stephen and myself responded to your post about Hancock being worried that immunity may last only 6 or 12 months followed by a worry emoji for effect. Anyway I ‘ll leave it at that.
I think everyone knows the HSE when allocating treatments places a financial value on a life.

Its not my job to contact all the testing centers and ask for there last 24 hours numbers then add them up and release.. I really don't see who this isn't nearly automatic at this stage.

I don't think hhe vaccine stops you spreading it or at least they don't know yet.

We could be a long way off foreign holidays even with the vaccine.

True, but if you’ve had the vaccine you’re unlikely to occupy one of their hospital beds infected with Covid.

This is where I feel for the people involved in NPHET, as they are scientists, and should not have to deal with issues of politics.

I'd fecking hope it is automatic at this stage. It would be fairly incompetent of them if it wasnt

The number is so high it's taking them forever to type it out

The guy with the 9 toes keeps skewing the count

Apparently that's acceptable to people here. No holding the Government to account because .... green jersey.... all in this together.... etc etc.
I think a lot of folks are wearing that green jersey a bit too tightly.

the main issue is lack of vaccine available.

in the EU procurement system like all the other EU states

should have ordered more Pfizer but didn't

Reporting of cases “has caught up” with positive lab results. Backlog clear.

Don't see how the backlog is clear when there's about 8k swabs unannounced, they're hardly all re-tests.
