Heathcare workers getting vaccinated on the Late Late tomorrow. You'd wonder the value of that tbh

It's a message that needs to be repeated over and over as we need to shake loose some of the 25% or so who are not inclined to get a shot.

no only cases broken down by county.

    As I thought. Had a look & couldn’t see.
    Shame.
Not that I know of, and it seems from the numbers that county data per day isnt as useful during this backlog issue as the numbers are fluctuating wildly, likely better to stick with 14-day incidence per county until backlog is cleared.

Ya backlog is the reason I was looking. Swab data would have given a better picture of what is going on. Ah well.

probably roughly a 10 to 12 day lag average from case confirmation to hospitalisation at a guess?

Then depends on how long they need to stay in, who ends up in ICU etc (if ICU space at this rate) and for how long there.

When testing is up to scratch and positivity low or stable, you will pick up cases before they need hospitalisation. When testing is overrun and the positivity becomes very high, you will see hospitalisations before cases. Basically the peak in hospital would be before the peak in cases.

China doing that thing they do - all for 100 cases.

Sometimes you'd wonder do the Chinese know something about this feck of a thing that we don't.

Then why not do it on the 6.1 News, instead of making a show out of it.

Because the Late Late is watched by more people

Definitely need to discourage vaccine hesitancy but not sure what that will achieve tbh

6.1 news is reserved for all the doom and gloom. They can't show some positivity on it!

Private hospitals must pull on the green jersey and offer to take public patients as Covid19 crisis worsens, warns HSE chief

    Yes, I agree.
How about Nationwide then? Anything but the Late Late Show.

My humour is dry and weary. I think some people there know a lot of things they do not share. The country has had a long history of rounding up civilian deaths to the nearest million, the elite still are brutal to those who are inconvenient, but yet they will not tolerate any amount of this virus malingering at all in their midst.

One of those things where it just seems unbelievably callous to not help, but also so kind and selfless and a remarkable show of solidarity and compassion if they do. Not much in between!

Yeah no-one has ever explained that. How can a country who have such an appalling human rights record do everything in their significant power to stamp out this mediocre virus?

It doesn't make sense. Surely they wouldn't care if x amount died for the greater good? They are over populated anyway.

Theres a lot to be said for bringing the clocks forward, its feels more like 6.19 than 5.19pm

Hopefully they don't have a bad reaction live on air which will destroy vaccine compliance

What mystifies me is some developing countries with 1-2% elderly population partaking in the style of restrictions in place in the West/Asia . Kenya with curfews, mask mandates, schools closed since March.. at..1700 deaths in a country with a population of 50 million. 2.5% of Kenyans are over 65, and even among that cohort the OAP population is probably a lot younger than the elderly in the West. I can't get my head around them pulling out all the stops for COVID when by all means worse diseases are in circulation throughout the year causing far higher deaths. I really don't get it, is it really just as simple as these places all jumping on the bandwagon out of fear..if the developed world are ****ting themselves obviously we should be too? and not assessing what the impact of COVID spreading in their own countries would actually be like in reality?

I had a look at the 2019 flu season report from HPSC I couldn’t believe that in that Flu season there was over 2500 cases in hospital and 116 in critical care beds crazy numbers even back then.

Perhaps their ICU capacity is worse than ours

How do that you think they do that on such a scale? And do you believe the numbers that come out of CCP

It’s very difficult to square your claim as to what you are employed as ,when you post rubbish like this.

If the insight and views of Secretary of State for Health and Social Care and a pharmacist are less than, what kind of commentary is acceptable?

    Only positive?

They can mobilise huge numbers very easily, whether civilian or military and no to the second.

Private hospitals have bills to pay like all of us. They're not going to do it just cos they're asked

They do. They know they have absolute control over their citizens. They know they can take whatever steps they deem necessary without giving any thought to civil liberties.

Tbf asking them to put on the green jersey sounds like HSE and government are trying to skimp on the deal, and now Reid has decided negative PR for them might get them to change their tune

Those numbers are really high.. but were they taken on one day in question or over the course of the whole winter?
